I can't say what I'll be thinking when I die, but... I'm not gonna regret the way I live!
~ Yuji to Yaga
I now understand my role. For the sake of Fushiguro, Kugisaki, Nanamin and all my upperclassmen. I have to make sure they can get through here to Gojo sensei. Even if it means dying I'm gonna take him down! I don't have to be the one to save Gojo sensei!
~ Yuji to himself

I still don't know what it means to die naturally... until I do, and until I can kill that thing... I won't lose to anything.
~ Yuji

You're right... Mahito. I'm you. I wanted to reject you. Convincing myself that you were wrong. But that doesn't matter now. I'm gonna kill you. Even if you come back as another curse... I'll kill you. Change your name. Change your form. I'll kill you again. I don't need to find a meaning or reason. Maybe a hundred years after my death, the meaning behind my actions will become apparent. In the grand scheme of things... I'm probably nothing more than a cog. But I'll keep killing curses... for as long as I can. That's my role in all this.
~ Yuji to Mahito

You know... up until recently I thought I should simply live to fulfill my role as I understood it. I thought if I died like that, I could at least consider this a proper death. But know... I feel like that's not entirely right. Walking the dog, raising a family, any sort of role like that is just fine. Even if you don't have anything like that, as long as you can eat, shit and sleep. Even if you're stuck in bed sick, even if you spent all your life with no connections and nothing remains of you... More than memories made in one's image, it's within the little, tiny fragments that remain drifting off, where the value of life lies.

It never had anything to do with the ways people die. I just couldn't ever forgive those who acted as if that value didn't exist. Sukuna... I loathe you. Humans aren't tools. We aren't born with any set role. Which is to say... I don't know. I don't know whether humans are fundamentally good or evil.

I could very well be doing the wrong thing here. So I thought I should at least let you see the humanity of someone other than yourself. Of someone you see no value in

~ Yuji explaining his new found ideology to Sukuna

Sukuna... You are me. We're born into this world unconsciously shouldering curses. What sort of monster you turn into is entirely decided by luck... and I had my gramps. Sukuna let's try one more time. Living not by cursing someone, but by existing alongside them. Even if no one else will accept you... I'll live with you.
~ Yuji giving Sukuna one last chance at life

Summary

Yuji Itadori (虎杖いたどり ゆう Itadori Yūji?) is the main protagonist of the manga and anime series Jujutsu Kaisen. He is a high school student with exceptional physical abilities, even before becoming a jujutsu sorcerer.

Raised by his grandfather, Yuji is taught the importance of helping others and living a life with meaning. After his grandfather's passing, he inadvertently becomes involved in the world of jujutsu when he discovers a cursed object, one of Sukuna's fingers, and consumes it to protect his friends from a powerful cursed spirit. Upon ingesting Sukuna's finger, Yuji becomes a vessel for the King of Curses, granting him access to a portion of Sukuna's immense power. However, this power comes at a cost, as Yuji is constantly at risk of being possessed by the malicious spirit. Recognizing the potential danger he poses, Yuji resolves to collect and consume all of Sukuna's remaining fingers, thereby eliminating the threat posed by the King of Curses once and for all.

To achieve this goal, Yuji enrolls at the Tokyo Jujutsu High School, where he trains as a jujutsu sorcerer under the tutelage of Satoru Gojo and forms strong bonds with his fellow classmates, Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki. Throughout the series, Yuji faces various challenges and opponents, including powerful cursed spirits and other jujutsu sorcerers, while seeking to balance his newfound powers and responsibilities with his personal mission and desire to protect those around him.

Name: Yuji Itadori

Origin: Jujutsu Kaisen

Gender: Male

Age: 15 years old

Classification: Human, Jujutsu Sorcerer

Powers and Abilities:

Resistance to:

Attack Potency: At most Building level normally (Nanami considers Yuji's raw strength to be superhuman, to the point that his punch reinforced with weak Cursed Energy is still 20% stronger than the average Jujutsu Sorcerer,[5] allowing him to accomplish feats that no ordinary human could do such as busting through a wall.[17] Megumi after fighting Todo and training with Maki thinks Yuji can win against any of the other Jujutsu High students in a fight where Cursed Energy isn't involved[18]), up to City Block level with Cursed Energy (The delayed second impact in Yuji's punches comes from his main source of Cursed Energy[5] which is demonstrably stronger than the initial hit from his reinforced fist[5])

Speed: Superhuman travel speed normally (Can run 50 meters in 3 seconds[2]), Subsonic combat and reaction speed with Cursed Energy (Is one of the fastest students in the Goodwill Event, as none of the Kyoto students can land a hit on him,[19] having his speed complimented by Todo,[20] a pure physical fighter)

Lifting Strength: Class 5 (Casually threw a shot put ball 30 meters[2] with enough force to bend a metal goalpost[2] and also jumped to the fourth story of his school[2]), higher with Cursed Energy

Striking Strength: At most Building level normally (Knocked around a Grade 2 curse with his punches but ultimately couldn't harm it due to his lack of Cursed Energy control[2]), City Block level with Cursed Energy (When enraged, he was able to punch an off-guard Mahito hard enough to cause his nose to bleed[6] and then later in their fight, bruised his face with several headbutts before breaking his jaw with a kick[15])

Durability: At most Building level normally (Withstood hits from a Grade 2 Curse with almost no injuries, something that almost killed Megumi[2] and survived multiple attacks[8] from the Finger Bearer while it was toying with him including being blasted through a double layered wall[8]), City Block level with Cursed Energy (Withstood an attack from Todo that blew him threw multiple trees.[20] Took a punch in the gut from Todo[21] impressing him with his toughness[21])

All previous abilities excluding Damage Boost (Divergent Fist due to his enhanced usage and compatibility of his body and Cursed Energy), plus:

Attack Potency: City Block level+ (Much stronger than before[26]. He repeatedly surprises sorcerers of old[27] and modern day[28] with his physical strength. Stated by Mei Mei to be on the level of a Grade 1 Sorcerer[29] and was one of the 5 students recommended for Grade 1[30]. Grade 1 is the minimum grade needed to defeat a Special Grade Curse[1], supported by how he can exorcise Eso[31], badly hurt Kechizu[32], harm Hanami[33], and could contend with Mahito[34], 2 Special Grade Death Paintings and 2 Cursed Spirits respectively. Contended with Choso[35], another Special Grade Death Painting who was stated to be on the level of a Grade 1 Sorcerer[36], and matched him when he utilized Flowing Red Scale[37]. Megumi stated that he would surpass him, implying that he's currently weaker[38]), higher with Black Flash (Black Flash is stated to be equal to a normal hit to the power of 2.5[22]. Badly damaged Hanami, blowing off his arms with a single punch[39], then hit her with a barrage of Black Flashes[40], said barrage mixed with a strike from Todo with Playful Cloud would've killed Jogo[41]. A single one of his Black Flashes was more powerful than his combined blow with Todo[33]. Blew apart Mahito's hand when he tried to block it[42], and badly hurt him with a face shot[43], noting that it dealt serious damage[44], with Mahito saying that going in recklessly against his Black Flash meant his demise[45]), even higher with Max Power Black Flash (Is his Black Flash imbued with his maximum cursed energy[44] and completely destroyed Mahito's Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing[45])

Speed: Subsonic combat speed and reaction (Was considered fast by Hanami, who stated he was more agile than Maki[33]. Can contend with a Special Grade Death Painting, Choso, even when he uses Flowing Red Scale[37] and react to his Piercing Blood, having a 50/50 chance of dodging the attack[33]. Can keep up with Instant Spirit Body Mahito)

Lifting Strength: Class 5 (Threw a car.[27] Held back Body Repel[46], that was able to shake Shibuya's metro system)

Striking Strength: City Block level+ (Physically stronger than every other contender of the Goodwill Event[1], including Maki[13]. He's stated to be equal to Nanami[28], a Grade 1 Sorcerer. Dealt heavy damage to Choso with only three direct hits[47]), higher with Black Flash, even higher with Max Power Black Flash

Durability: City Block level+ (Is able to infuse his durability with Cursed Energy, making him withstand Mahito's attacks and his Instant Spirit Body form, who made a whole on the ground while attacking Yuji. Held back Mahito's Body Repel)

All previous abilities on a higher degree plus:

Attack Potency: Multi-City Block level (Was strengthened by Kenjaku in preparation for the culling games[48]. Along with his unreal physical strength, Itadori mastered a fluid control over his cursed energy, impressing Choso and one-shotting a low level Curse effortlessly[49]), far higher with Black Flash

Speed: At least Subsonic (Kept up with a casual Yuta[50], who considered him fast[51])

Lifting Strength: At least Class 5 (Should be stronger than his Shibuya self)

Striking Strength: Multi-City Block level (Capable of physically matching Yuta and breaking his sword[50], who was surging with cursed energy[51], even when holding back in their battle[52]. Slammed Haba through several floors and one shot him with a punch to the head[53]), far higher with Black Flash

Durability: Multi-City Block level (Was largely undamaged after being punched through several skyscrapers by Sukuna[7][Note 1]. Took a punch from Naoya, who was surprised by his toughness[49]. Was completely undamaged after being rammed through several buildings[54]. Even after having his cursed energy confiscated[55] by Judgeman, he could withstand several attacks from Higuruma[55] who described him as an unbreakable doll[56])

All previous abilities on a much higher degree minus Immortality, Multiple Selves, Regeneration & Resistance to Soul Manipulation (Sukuna left his body) plus:

Resistance to:

Attack Potency: Possibly Town level (Yuji fought against Sukuna alongside Yuta. Both showed similar performances[Statistics Values 1]), far higher with Black Flash

Speed: Supersonic+ combat speeds[Statistics Values 2] and reactions[Statistics Values 3] (Could move at a similar speed to Maki against 16 Finger Sukuna[67]. Moved in sync with Yuta inside of his domain[58])

Lifting Strength: Class M (Leaped from a roof hard enough to cave it in[68])

Striking Strength: Possibly Town level, far higher with Black Flash

Durability: Possibly Town level (Should scale to his attack potency)

Stamina: Superhuman (Yuji possesses immense stamina and pain tolerance even compared to other sorcerers, which combined with his naturally high toughness makes him incredibly difficult to put down. He fought against the Special Grade Finger Bearer even after the latter cut his hand off[69] and was able to endure several other hits from the spirit despite the immense damage they dealt[8]. Was relatively unaffected from Todo repeatedly sticking him in the head[20]. Fought Choso for an extended period of time despite having his arm[70] and gut[35] pierced early on. Later in the battle when Choso destroyed his liver with Blood Meteorite, Yuji almost immediately regained composure and continued fighting[37]. Fought Mahito for about 22 minutes[71], during which he nearly got his skull cracked open[46], got hit by a Black Flash and survived a subsequent beating from the curse[72] as well as being repeatedly cut up by him[44]. Could have continued fighting after taking a deep slash from Yuta's sword[73]. Walked through a swarm of Sukuna's Dismantle completely unfazed[68]. Yuji also possesses substantial Cursed Energy reserves having the remnants of Sukuna's cursed energy as well as the energy of the six Special Grade Cursed Wombs[74]. This was shown during the Shinjuku Showdown where he was able to heal of several lethal attacks with Reverse Cursed Technique[75] and later used a Domain Expansion[76])

Range: Standard Melee Range normally, Tens of Meters with Wire (The wire he used against Awasaka was shown being the length of several floors[28]), Projectiles (Threw a shotball 30 meters away[2]) and Domain Expansion (His domain's barrier was the size of a building[63])

Standard Equipment: None Notable.

Temporary Equipments:

  • Slaughter Demon (屠坐とざ Tozama?) Slaughter Demon is a dagger imbued with cursed energy that even non-sorcerers could use to exorcise curses.
  • Wire: Thread given by Maki to Yuji for Combat.

Intelligence:

Weaknesses: Yuji has limited control over Sukuna and is constantly at risk of being possessed by the malicious spirit, potentially endangering himself and others around him. Furthermore, Yuji is relatively inexperienced in the world of jujutsu, still learning and developing his techniques and understanding of cursed energy, which may sometimes leave him at a disadvantage against more seasoned opponents. In the earlier part of the series, Yuji also grapples with a fear of dying, but as he gains more experience and resolves to fulfill his mission, this mental barrier gradually diminishes.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:
  • Divergent Fist (逕庭拳けいていけん Keiteiken?): The impact of Yuji's cursed energy initially lagged behind his physical strength which caused his opponents to experience two impacts from a single punch. After Yuji's fight with Aoi Todo at the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event and the Kyoto third-year's critique of this attack, he stopped being able to use it as his manipulation of cursed energy improved. However, after his fight with Choso during the Shibuya Incident, he has been able to control Divergent Fist.
  • Black Flash (黒閃こくせん Kokusen?): A highly potent jujutsu technique that occurs when a user synchronizes their cursed energy with a physical hit within 1/1,000,000th of a second (0.000001 seconds). This precise synchronization creates spatial distortion and causes the cursed energy to flash black, resulting in an attack with 2.5 times the power of a normal hit. Yuji Itadori has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in using Black Flash, being able to execute it four times in a row at one point in the series.
  • Reverse Cursed Technique (反転はんてんじゅつしき Hanten Jutsushiki?): Within the month before his battle against Sukuna, Yuji learned how to use Reverse Cursed Technique to heal himself. Using Reverse Cursed Technique, he regenerated his body after suffering a Cleave from Sukuna. He later used it to heal the wounds he received from two of Sukuna's Dismantle slashes.
  • Blood Manipulation (赫血操せっけつそうじゅつ Sekketsu Sōjutsu?): Due to absorbing the remaining Cursed Paintings, Yuji was engraved with Blood Manipulation, the inherited technique of the Kamo Clan. Using this innate technique, Yuji can manipulate his own blood and should have the other extension techniques as well.
    • Convergence (びゃくれん Byakuren?): An extension technique that compresses and condenses the user's blood to its absolute limit with cursed energy. The blood orb created by this technique is required for using Piercing Blood and Supernova. Due to his inexperience, Yuji is unable to perform Convergence very well.
      • Piercing Blood (穿血せんけつ Senketsu?): After using Convergence, the user clasps their hands around the blood orb and fires a blood beam that travels at the speed of sound. Yuji used this technique against Sukuna during their fight, damaging his face. Due to being unable to use Convergence, Yuji took a pressurized blood orb created by Choso in order to perform Piercing Blood.
  • Shrine (御厨子みづし Mizushi?): After landing a Black Flash against Sukuna, the awakened state brought forth by the phenomenon drew out Sukuna's own cursed technique that was engraved in Yuji, albeit with some differences. Unlike Sukuna, Yuji creates dashed lines with scissors on anything he touches that are subsequently cut along those lines however its unknown if this is only visible to the audience or to his opponents as well. Due to only recently awakening the technique, Yuji's output for the technique is rather low.
    • Dismantle (カイ Kai?): Shrine's default slashing attack that can be used against cursed spirits and sorcerers to great effectiveness. Unlike Sukuna, Yuji can only deliver this attack through physical contact for now. Using a binding vow, Yuji increased the technique's effectiveness at separating souls by narrowing its target to the boundary between Sukuna and Megumi's soul.
  • Domain Expansion: (りょう域展開いきてんかい「」 Ryōiki Tenkai: ?): Yuji's Domain appears to be a showcase of Yuji's personal life's events starting with a train station to Yuji's hometown, his guaranteed-hit appears to be his soul separating attacks. Along with this through Soul Training with Atsuya Kusakabe, Yuji has learned the basics of Barrier Techniques greatly improving the caliber of his Domain's barrier.
  • New Shadow Style: Simple Domain (シン・かげりゅうかんりょういき Shin Kageryū: Kan'i Ryōiki?): An anti-domain technique Yuji learned by switching souls with Atsuya Kusakabe. It is used to disable a domain's guaranteed-hit effect by neutralizing its barrier. Yuji activated it in response to Sukuna's impromptu Malevolent Shrine, allowing him to resist its slashes for almost 99 seconds before finally crumbling.

Note: Even though it is stated several times that the Black Flash multiplies the attack by ^2.5, this is not consistent with the verse as several attacks would be Solar System level. Several characters often resist a Black Flash, even if, in theory, the attack is ^2.5 stronger.

Notes/Explanations

  1. Although Sukuna's punch itself cleanly went through Yuji, him being thrown through the skyscraper, which is what is being calced, didn't damage him
