William Dunn is the main character of The Reign of the Superman. The character was the earliest-known person to carry the mantle of Superman.
William Dunn is a poor man who has to wait on a bread-line each day for food. He is approached by Professor Smalley, who offered him a hot meal. Upon following the strange professor, he become a lab rat and is subjugated to a strange meteor rock, which gave him superpowers. With his superpowers, he attempts to rule over the world and renames himself as Superman.
