I had forgotten that you are only a common boy. How should you understand reasons of State? You must learn, child, that what would be wrong for you or for any of the common people is not wrong in a great Queen such as I. The weight of the world is on our shoulders. We must be freed from all rules. Ours is a high and lonely destiny.

Summary

Jadis the White Witch used to rule in her world of Charn as Queen. But after a battle with her sister, she used the secret Deplorable Word and destroyed all life in her universe besides her own, and so went into a long hibernation. Years later she is awakened by two children, Digory and Polly, and uses them to travel to their world and later Narnia. Together with the kids they accidentally travel to the creation of the world of Narnia, where she ends up eating a certain fruit that makes her immortal. And she ends up ruling over Narnia as a Queen for a thousand years, causing eternal winter. With the arrival of Aslan her winter starts to fade, and at the Stone Table she kills him, unknowingly fulfilling the Table's prophecy and the resurrected Aslan puts an end to her tyranny.
