Summary[]

For this blog post I will be calculating the Double Detroit Smash. The feat is from the series My Hero Academia and is done by two characters, Deku and All Might. Essentially, they managed to overpower the colossal cube Wolfram sent at them. Credits to Earthyboy.

Calculation[]

Firstly, we'll need to find something to scale to the heli-pad. That would be the helicopter. We get a direct comparison between Deku and the length of the helicopter in Scan 1, so this shouldn't be a problem.

  • Deku height = 76.5 pixels | 1.66 meters
  • Helicopter = 598.2 pixels | 13 meters

Now we can then compare the helicopter to the heli-pad in Scan 2.

  • Helicopter length = 524 pixels | 13 meters
  • Helipad width/length = 545 pixels | 13.52 meters

We also see a direct comparison between the helipads and the width of the inner platform in Scan 3. So I went ahead and pixel-scaled this as well.

  • Helipad width = 120 pixels | 13.52 meters
  • Inner platform diameter = 917 pixels | 103.3 meters

Now we can compare the inner platform’s diameter, to the outer platform's diameter in Scan 4.

  • Inner platform diameter = 74 pixels | 103.3 meters
  • Outer platform diameter = 196 pixels | 273 meters

Then in Scan 5, we can compare the diameter of the platform to the tower Wolfram created.

  • Platform diameter = 274.44 pixels | 273 meters
  • Wolfram's tower width = 13.04 pixels | 13 meters

Finally in Scan 6, we can start comparing the width of the tower, to the giant cube's length.

  • Wolfram tower width = 72.4 pixels | 13 meters
  • Wolfram cube length = 1049 pixels | 188.5 meters

Volume of the cube[]

Volume = 6,697,829.125 m^3

Mass of the cube[]

Mild steel has a bare minimum density of 7.85 g/cm^3 or 7,850 kg/m^3. I'll assume this is what most of the cube is made out of.

  • Mass = 6697829.125 * 7850 kg/m^3
  • Mass = 52,577,958,631.3 kilograms, or 52,577,958.63 metric tons

Now, for the 7 and final scan, in order to find the velocity of the cube, we'll have to scale the distance it crossed while finding the time-frame.

  • Height of Wolfram's cube = 188.5 meters
  • Distance Wolfram's cube moved = 187.42 meters

The velocity of Wolfram's cube[]

It crossed this distance in about one frame, and anime usually plays at 24 FPS. So the time-frame is 42 milliseconds (0.042 seconds).

  • Velocity = 187.42 / 0.042
  • Velocity = 4462.38 m/s, Mach 13

Kinetic Energy of the Cube[]

Now we can plug this into the equation for kinetic energy.

  • Kinetic Energy = 0.5 * 52577958631.3 * 4462.38 ^2
  • Kinetic Energy = 5.23488e+17 Joules

Since Deku and All Might did this together, I'll divide the energy value by 2.

  • Deku and All Might's AP individually = 2.61744e+17 Joules

Final Tally[]

Wolfram's Cube Kinetic Energy = 125.11 Megatons of TNT (7-A, Mountain level)

Deku and All Might's Attack Potency = 62.55 Megatons of TNT (7-B, City level+)
