Introduction[]

In Deltarune Chapter 1, Ralsei is able to close the Great Door by himself. I'll be calculating the force needed to perform this feat.

Calculation[]

First we need to measure the height and width of the door.

Kris's Height = 167.95 cm

Door Height = 6.63 m

Door Width = 4.01 m

Door Thickness = 0.1016 m (Big medieval fantasy doors are 4 inches thick)

We put these values on this Rectangular Calculator, and subtract 10% of the volume since the door is not completely rectangular.

Volume = 2.70*0.90 = 2.43 m^3

The density of oak wood is 704 kg/m^3. Keep in mind that this door is a manifestation of a wooden door in a classroom.

Mass = 2.43 x 704 = 1710.72 Kilograms

The door was closed in a movement of exactly 15 degrees.

Arc Radius = 4.01/2 = 2.005 m

Arc Length = 0.5249 m

Then we need to find the timeframe. Ralsei closed the door in a single frame, and Deltarune runs at 30 fps.

Timeframe = 1/30 = 0.033333 seconds

Now we just have to get the acceleration.

Acceleration = 944.80 m^2

Finally we can calculate the force needed to close the door this quick. For this we'll be using only half the mass of the door (855.36 kilos), since each half is being moved separately.

Force = 855.36 x 944.80 = 808144.12 Newtons, 82.40 Tons of Force

Final Tally[]

Since he closed each side of the door with one hand, we need to multiply the result by two.
