Introduction[]
The following is a page detailing the cosmological structure of Dragon Ball franchise for the anime series Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Super anime.
Canonical[]
DBS Anime is also considered to continue from the events of DBZ Kai for the reasons that’ll be expounded upon below:
- The DBS anime uses scenes[1] from the DBZ Kai[2] anime[3] as character flashbacks[4] to represent events that took place in the previous arcs. These flashbacks also seem to show events that are anime-only, for example, during Trunks's flashback we see the Semi-Perfect Cell versus SS2 Gohan fight which is an anime-only battle and never took place in the manga, meaning the DBS anime follows the events of DBZ Kai anime rather than the Dragon Ball manga
- The presence of anime-only characters like Gregory[5] and Mr. Satan's underlings[6] in the DBS anime who are absent from the Dragon Ball manga, even during important events such as during Cell's self-destruction on King Kai's planet, Gregory was nowhere to be found in the scene, indicating his absence in the manga's story, not to mention the official Dragon Ball website also calls him a "TV-series only character"[7] which is another proof of why the DBS anime should be canon to DBZ Kai
- Bulma indicating[3] that the entire side story of Ginyu switching bodies with her happened in the past which is an anime-only story and isn't present in the manga, meaning that the DBS anime seems to follow events from DBZ Kai as characters remembers events that didn't happen in the manga
- The DBS anime also follows the DBZ Kai version of Trunks's backstory as he became a Super Saiyan[8] for the first time after Gohan's death, contrary to the manga where he already had Super Saiyan from the beginning[9]. One thing to note is that they have fully reanimated Trunks's backstory here, meaning that if they wanted to they could have went with the manga route yet they chose to follow the anime version of it, further solidifying the fact that the DBS anime follows events of DBZ Kai rather than the manga
- The producer of DBZ Kai says that DBZ Kai is accurate to Toriyama's original story[10] which can be used as evidence to say that Kai is canon to Toriyama's works.
Kai being canon to the DBS anime was accepted here
Multiverse[]

The Dragon Ball World (called the multiverse on the official site) refers to a set of twelve macrocosms that exist in conjunction with one another as alternate space-times. Formerly, there were eighteen macrocosms in total, but Zen'ō erased six of them while in a sour mood[11].
Separation of Space-Time[]
- There exist a <Subspace>[12] that doesn't belong to any World/Macrocosm (Fig. 1) and is located between all dimensions, such as the ones between the macrocosm. The <Subspace>[12] is an area that exists between dimensions, and is a void that is devoid of the concepts of space and time. The dimensions having time, but being separated by a void without the concepts of time and space, it shows that they have their own parallel time axes.
- The RoSaT is stated to have a different dimension[13] of time[14] comparative to realms like the Kaioshin Realm and Living World, which means their spatio-temporal separation involves distinct time dimensions, instead of multiple space-times sharing one time dimension.
- The mechanics[15] of[16] Buuhan's[15] and Gotenks[17]’ feats[18] shows that[16] the separation[19] exists between the Living Realm and other dimensions. Also, we can see that messing with the dimensional barrier distorts space-time[20][See Notes 1], in the fight[21] with Broly and Gogeta[20] which further implies that these dimensional barriers are the barriers of Space-Time.
- The Living Universe and Afterlife are said to be separated from[22] each other further adding to this the living universe and afterlife are said to other dimensions[16] meaning they are not a single entity and are separate dimensions/realms.
- There is a room inside the Living World that creates all of space-time for it: confirming that it’s serviced by its own time dimension
- Supporting evidence: Physical flight between realms isn't possible, you need special techniques[23] like Kai Kai or the use of Instant Transmission to access places like Kaioshin Realm and Afterlife[12]
In essence, this details the fact that there’s a void without the concepts of time and space existing detached, but between from every dimension. Also, that despite this there exists dimensional boundaries that indicate the separation of space and time from these other dimensions.
Dimensions of the Macrocosms[]
This section is going to explain the number of space-times present in a single Dragon Ball universe
The Living Universe[]

The Living Universe is outright stated[24] to be a Universe. The Living Universe is where Goku and his friends reside. The Living Universe is divided into 4 quadrants[16]: east, west, north & south with each of them consisting of countless galaxies[16] and a respective Kai governing the said quadrant. It is an entirely separate dimension[16] from the Afterlife & the Kaioshin Realm.
Afterlife[]

The Afterlife is separated[22] from the human universe, referred[24][22] to as “The Cosmos,” which is nearly synonymous as being described as a Universe-like structure, but providing a distinction in name from the Living Universe. The Afterlife is a different realm in which souls of people go after death[22] and is separated from the Living World.[22] It contains places like Heaven, Hell, Snake Way, Kaio planets. It and is said to be the upper half of the main macrocosm[22], and a contrast of the human world. The afterlife is even stated to transcend the dimensions[24] present in the human world, which means that it should be unquantifiably bigger than the Living Universe. Now what makes Afterlife even bigger is the fact that it contains Heaven which was said to be as big as the universe[12], even completely disappearing in its vastness. This should be more than enough to prove that the Afterlife is way bigger than a universe and can be considered a significant-sized space-time.
Kaioshin Realm[]

The realm in which the Supreme Kais reside and look upon the the universe. It was said to be 1/10 of the afterlife and living world[12] and the Kaioshin oversee the universe this way. It exists in a completely different dimension[25] from the Living Universe and the Afterlife and is only accessible via special techniques like teleportation[12]. Being 1/10th of both worlds qualifies it for being a significant sized space-time.
The Room of Spirit & Time[]
The Room of Spirit & Time (commonly known as the Hyperbolic Time Chamber) is a special room located in another dimension. This room is stated to have a completely different dimension[26] of time[27] from the Kaioshin Realm. It is separated by dimensional walls which is the very fabric of space-time that Majin Buu blew[17] a[16] hole[19] in to escape from the RoSaT[17], and later, Buu nearly broke down again the same dimensional walls that separated the realms of the Macrocosm[15], nearly crushing the[15] entire universe[16]. The RoSaT not only proves the existence of different dimensions of time, but also that the dimensional walls separating the realms is the very fabric of space-time itself
Dimension of Swirling Lights[]
During the battle between Gogeta and Broly, the two were sent into a strange dimension of swirling lights after their sheer power breaking the dimensional walls separating the realms, distorting space-time itself[21][20][See Notes 2]. While the realm itself has no quantifiable size, it does further confirm the space-time separation of the different dimensions of the macrocosms.
Neutral Space[]

In Dragon Ball there exists a construct called the Neutral Space where the Tournament of Destroyers took place in[28]. The Neutral Space contains[29] all of the 12 macrocosms[29] of the Dragon Ball multiverse, separating them so that they do not touch nor interact with each other[30]. It is also called a space different from the 12 universes[31] so from above information it seems that the Neutral Space follows parallelism, making it an insignificant 5-D space. The Neutral Space seems to contain stars[30] and galaxies[30] making it somewhat an universe of its own.
Now the Neutral space has an element of time as Hit was able to use his Time-Skip there[32]. This acts as an in-between axis of time for the hypertimeline which also acts as a sideways level of time perpendicular to the macrocosms which is why you can destroy the individual macrocosms and their temporal origin without wrecking the others. This can be used as supporting evidence for hypertimelines. For further information regarding the Neutral Space, check out this thread
World of Void[]

The World of Void, also known as the Null realm, is a dimension where the Tournament of Power took place. It is a realm separate from the multiverse[31] and is a realm filled with eternal nothingness devoid of space and time[33][34]
The size of the realm is unknown but as it lacks space and time & is a realm of complete nothingness it should qualify for Nonexistent Physiology (Nature Type 1; Aspect Type 5 [Other: Space-Time & History] and Beyond-Dimensional Existence (Type 1)
Subspace[]

There exist a <Subspace>[12] that doesn't belong to any World/Macrocosm (Fig.
The size of the realm is unknown, but as it lacks the concepts of space and time & is a void of nothingness it should qualify for Nonexistent Physiology (Nature Type 1; Aspect Type 2 [Concepts] & 5 [Other: Space-Time & History] and Beyond-Dimensional Existence (Type 1)
Zeno's Realm[]

Zeno's realm is a dimension where the great ruler of the multiverse, Zeno aka. the Omni King, resides. From this realm both Zenos and the Grand Priest look upon the entire multiverse. From his dimension he can materialize his hand[35] into the universe, and flick around planets the size of galaxies. The exact size and location of the dimension is unknown but it appears to at least hold its own stars and galaxies as seen in the background. The pillars present on Zeno's palace seems to hold spheres that represents universes. It’s also stated that Zeno wants to get rid of a few universes[36] because he wants to speed up the game.
Hypertimeline[]
As explained in the previous sections, the Dragon Ball timeline consists of many different universal space-times with their own time dimensions, the space in-between that contains all the 12 macrocosms & many other realms. The timeline contains all the worlds that exist within the multiverse and outside of it. This timeline is a 5th-dimensional "hypertimeline". For a more thorough explanation of this, please check this blog
Conclusion[]
So overall to give you the summary of blog above
- Each macrocosm is a 2-C structure, each having 3 universal space-times which possess their own time dimensions.
- There are 12 macrocosms currently in a single timeline.
- The World of Void & the Subspace are nonexistent realms.
- Neutral space is an insignificant 5-D space containing all of 12-18 macrocosms and also acts as an in-between time axis having its own side ways level of time.
- The overarching Timeline contains all of the structures mentioned above and is 5-D hypertimeline
