Hello everyone. I'll be calculating the energy required to destroy the house Miroku did in the Psyren manga.
The Calculation[]
First, I need to obtain the volume of the house. Our point of reference will be little Frederica, standing off to the left side. We'll assume her to be 3 ft to low ball and I'm too lazy to look up the average height of a child her age. 3ft is 0.91m. The width, in blue, is 314px, or 3.66m. The height, in purple, is 2.11m. The length, in yellow, is 4.4m. This makes the volume of the rectangular prism part of the house just the three multiplied together, giving a volume of 33.97 meters cubed.
As for the roof, the same length and width will be used, but the height will be different. This new height, marked in green, is 3.27m. Using the volume of a triangular prism (V = abh/2), the volume of the roof is 26.33 meters cubed.
Adding the two gives a total of 60.31 meters cubed. Multiplying this by six powers of ten gives 6.031*10^7 centimeters cubed.
Assuming Fragmentation: 4.82*10^8 J
Assuming Violent Fragmentation: 4.16*10^9 J
Results[]
Low End: 4.82*10^8 J, 0.1152 tons of TNT or 9-A, Small Building Level
High End: 4.16*10^9 J, 0.994 tons of TNT or 8-C, Building Level
Personally, the high end seems the best to me. The tree left the house in utter ruins afterwards, as shown on his profile. (Should be like page 14 or 15). In particular since Miroku was just casually flexing his power, and I also didn't take into account things like the shed or porch in my calculation.
