This is gonna go well. I can't wait to hear outlier over and over again.
Anyway, you know me, and you can probably guess what the reason for this blog is. A DMC Speed Revision.
In DMC3, Dante encounters a certain enemy, The Damned Rook. One that uses lasers to attack.

Oh hey would you look at that
Before someone says "They aren't lasers" not only does the official guide call them lasers, the lasers also act as lasers usually do, that being
1. Travels in a straight line
2. Stated to be a laser by a reliable source (DMC3 Guidebook)
3. Cannot be interacted with by humans (While active, Dante cannot strike the actual beam)
4. Consistent speed (the laser never slows)
So now that that's out of the way, what do we have to talk about?
Well, the video kindly provided by one Tony di Bugalu
So in this video, we have a list of time stamps, and we can calculate a large portion of them. Since I'm not going to calculate absolutely all of them, I'll just stick to two. The first RG, and his first successful dodge.
The First Royal Guard[]

Sorry about the poor quality

Dante's height: 1.9 meters (190 cm)
Distance from the Rook: Tricky, but roughly Dante's height, though it could be closer. We'll assume his height.
Dante blocked this, so he didn't move. It would scale his reactions. It is worth noting Dante can block while this while he is not facing the rook, which removes the possibility of an aim dodge/block.
Dante would have to react to this in the time it takes light (traveling at c) to travel his height.
He would have reacted to this in 6.33773 x 10^-9 (0.00000000633773 seconds). Relativistc+
The Dodge[]
Oh boy this one is gonna be fun.
Dante can dodge these same lasers, which means I get to use our Laser dodging feats calculation guide.
At 10:15, Dante dodge the laser from near point blank range. He jumps over The Damned Rook to do so, which is roughly his full height when the Rook is fully unfurled.
Using our calculation ((distance moved) x (speed of light in ms)/(distance from the beam initially)) we can determine how fast Dante would need to move in order to dodge in this way.
Distance from the Rook: Lowballed to 1 foot, or 0.3 m
Distance Dante would have to move to be safe: About the size of his head, or 0.38 m (given the human head is 1/5th of our height)
Distance Dante did move: 1.9 m (he's extra, it's his nature)
Calc (lowball): ((0.38m) x (299792458 m/s)/(0.3m)) = 379,737,113 m/s, 1.2 times the Speed of Light (FTL)
Calc (highball) ((1.9m) x (299792458 m/s)/(0.3m)) = 1,898,685,567 m/s, 6.3 times the Speed of Light (FTL)
The highball is the better assumption as that is what Dante actually does.
Why this isn't an Outlier[]
can I play whitesnake here
This isn't an outlier. Maddening, I know. Especially since we have DT Dante rated at At Least 4x FTL, Likely 813x FTL.
Except, we have no idea what Dante's speed is, truthfully speaking. We scale Dante in all games to people he fodderizes, and DMC3 is no exception. He effortlessly dodges lightning and blitzes people who do the same.
So what changes here?
Base Dante in his DMC3-Anime keys gets his speed changed to "At least Relativistic+, likely/possibly FTL".
Anyway, I'm gonna take a break, and go to sleep. See ya when I'll see ya, gamers.
