Introduction[]

Guys.

It happened AGAIN.

Basically, the OBD calculated those feats 3 times, and got Small Planet level all the same. Is this real life?

By the way, credits to Lina for the calculation again, of course.

The Calcs[]

1: Toneri Splits the Moon[]

At 1:33:40.072; this was just before the two halves of the Moon started to move.

  • At 1:33:44.577; this was just after the two halves of the Moon had moved.

  • Diameter of the Moon = 3474km = 280px
  • Distance of split = 4px = 49.63km
  • Timeframe = 4.505 seconds

Divide the distance of split by 2 since both halves covered the distance of the split equally. Thus, each half of the Moon moves about a distance of 24.814km.

Velocity = Distance/Time = 24.814km/4.505 seconds = 5.5082km/s

However, Lazywaka has suggested that the Moon is 15% hollow since we see empty spaces inside due to being terraformed. Thus, we fill that 15% with the mass of air instead since the people living inside the terraformed obviously required air to live.

  • Volume of the Moon = 2.1968e19 m^3
  • 15% hollowness = 3.2952e18 m^3
  • Density of air = 1.225kg/m^3
  • Mass of air = 4.03662e18 kg
  • Mass of rest of the Moon = (7.34767309e22 * 0.85) kg = 6.2455e22 kg
  • Total mass of Moon = 6.2456e22 kg

KE = (2 halves)*0.5*(mass)*(velocity^2) = 0.5*(6.2456e22 kg)*((5508.2m/s)^2) = 9.4752e29 Joules, or 226 exatons of TNT (Moon level+)

2: Toneri Moves the Moon[]

In the previous calc, it was stated that the there was a 60-minute timeframe before the Raikage would fire his Moon-busting weapon. So, let's go with that. At 1:31:03.666, Gaara asks Raikage to wait for one hour before firing his Moon buster.

Also, all of this event happened way before the Raikage decided to fire his Moon busting cannon, so the timeframe is probably less than that. So, let's find out how much time had passed before the first scene, and the second scene.

At 1:30:17.995, we see the image of Earth shown. Let's calculate the distance of Earth from the Moon.

  • Angsizing = 2*atan((160/358)*tan(70/2)) = 23.91 degrees
  • Diameter of Earth = 12742 km
  • Distance (via angsize) = 30089km

I have no idea if this is a fuck-up in the animators part, because the Moon is way too close to the Earth for comfort.

Now after a bunch of stuff happens after this scene, with Nardo beating the hell out of Toneri with a single punch and all.

And then we get to this scene. This happens in the timeframe of 1:38:37.786 in the movie.

  • Timeframe difference = 8 minutes, 19.791 seconds, or about ~500 seconds
  • Yellow line = Earth diameter = 373px = 12742km
  • Purple line = panel height = 120px
  • Angsizing = 2*atan((373/120)*tan(70/2)) = 111.6 degrees
  • Distance (via angsize) = 4329.7km
  • Distance difference = 30089km - 4329.7km = 25759.3km
  • Mass of Moon = 6.2456e22 kg
  • Velocity Moon (Low End) = (25759.3km)/(3600s) = 7155.4m/s
  • Velocity Moon (High End) = (25759.3km)/(~500 seconds) = 51518.6m/s

Now, here is the thing. Between the span of the time when Gaara asked for an hour extension and the time Toneri completely flipped out, both Naruto and Toneri were actually fighting. Considering that the fight between Toneri and Naruto concluded in about 6 to 7 minutes max after Gaara asked for the extension, I don't think that they were fighting for an entire hour at that time. The Raikage probably wanted to blast the Moon apart anyways just to be on the safe side.

So, we will do two ends here (and considering that Raikage was always shown to be a hotheaded, impatient dude, he probably wanted to fire that thing earlier just to be on the safe side)

  • KE (Low End) = (0.5)(6.2456e22 kg)((7155.4m/s)^2) = 1.5989e30 Joules, or 3.8213e20 Tons of TNT; Moon level
  • KE (High End) = (0.5)(6.2456e22 kg)((51518.6m/s)^2) = 8.28843e31 Joules, or 1.981e22 Tons of TNT; Small Planet level

You know what, let's just use Earth diameter of 23,790 kilometers (Respect to Lazywaka)

  • Distance of Earth (1st picture) = 56178 km
  • Distance of Earth (2nd picture) = 8083.8 km
  • Distance Difference = 48094.2km
  • KE (Low End) = (0.5)(6.2456e22 kg)((13360)^2) = 5.573088E+30 joules, or 1.332 zettatons ; Small Planet level.
  • KE (High End) = (0.5)(6.2456e22 kg)((96188.4)^2) = 6.9055e22 tons of TNT, or 69.055 zettatons; Planet level

When Toneri said he was going to bust Earth by dropping the Moon onto it, he wasn't kidding. Holy shit.
