The Feat[]

In the Sasuke Shinden novel, Sasuke battles a ninja named Nowaki, who has the ability to manipulate typhoons and create large winds. In the peak of their battle, Sasuke uses his Susano'o and Nowaki creates a storm that covers an entire island.

That's strong. How strong? Let's find out.

The Calc[]

Now, on chapter III of the novel, Sasuke calls the island a "small island above sea level". Basically, the island is divided into a mountain located in its middle, a thick forest in one of its edges, a city somewhere nearby, a decent harbor with several ships, and a beach right in front of him.

That's definitely several kilometers. How many? Sasuke first describes it like the above: mountain, forest in one edge, beach in the other, city nearby the forest. So the island is at least a three-way system, so thrice as big as the base from one brim to the other.

Assuming this mountain is about 1,000 meters high sounds like a decent enough lowball, since it is its prominent feature. I'll use a placeholder peak to scale:

C518a570f7e4fef30941a69c7601c3c3

  • Mountain = 153px = 1000m
  • Mountain base = 668px = 4366.0130719m

Multiplying it by 3, we have 13098.0392157m, or about 13 kilometers for the diameter. Sounds accurate and low enough.

  • pi*6549.01960785^2*13000 = 1.7516438e+12m³
  • Mass = 1.7568987e+12kg

Now, Nowaki casts the "Typhoon Release: Consecutive Bursting Strong Wind" jutsu for the second time, and Sasuke describes another violent storm forming in the very next paragraph. So 10 seconds sounds good, I'd say.

  • Speed = (6549m)/(10s) = 654.9m/s
  • KE = 0.5*1.7568987e+12*654.9^2 = 3.7676166e+17 joules, or 90 megatons (City level+)

Nowaki was defeated by Sasuke with his Complete Susano'o, so this yield scales directly to him.
