Introduction

M. Bison used Ryu's power to destroy a city in M. Bison's ending in Street Fighter Alpha 3. Since M. Bison harnessed the energy remained in Ryu and destroyed a city that looked like Hong Kong, I will measure the energy of that blast and determine the attack potency of the 7-B characters.

Calculation 1

Hong Kong

The blast dwarves the skyscrapers.

Since the buddha looks like the Buddha on Lantau Island, I am measuring the height of a notable landmark skyscraper in Hong Kong to compare to.

One notable building in Hong Kong, Central Plaza Hong Kong, stands 374 m. (It is built before 1998 and is therefore on the same year as the release of Street Fighter Alpha 3) I shall start here and compare with the blast diameter and hence the explosion energy.

That plaza just stands roughly 24 px.

The blast diameter stretches 460 px only, that is 7168.333333 m. Blast radius is thus 3584.166667 m.

Non-nuclear air blast radius (near-total fatalities) Yield: Y = ((x/0.28)^3)/1000/2 with Y in megatons of TNT and x in km.

Airblast Energy = ((3584.166667/1000/0.28)^3)/1000/2 megaton TNT = 1.04872229 megaton TNT = 4.38785E+15 J (Small City Level)

I'll calculate it using another formula: the overpressure formula, since it looks like a ground-based explosion and a ground-based explosion formula may be more appropriate.

Japan

Requested by Continuum19 I am doing another set of calculation by scaling to a notable landmark skyscraper in Japan.

One notable building in Japan, Yokohama Landmark Tower, stands just 296.3 m - built in 1993.

Explosion diameter such scaled = 296.3 m * 460/24 = 5679.083333 m

Airblast Energy = ((5679.083333/2/1000/0.28)^3)/1000/2 megaton TNT = 0.52148359 megaton TNT = 2.18189E+15 J (Large Town Level)

Overpressure Energy = (3584.166667)^3*((27136*1.37895 + 8649)^(1/2)/13568 - 93/13568)^2 ton TNT = 1.84005266 megaton TNT = 7.69878E+15 J (Small City Level)

Methodology is similar except the bottom part is taken as the blast radius

Hong Kong 2

The blast diameter stretches 1275 px, that is 19868.75 m. Blast radius is thus 9934.375 m.

Distance from point of view to Earth centre ~= 10236072.32 m
Distance from point of view to satellite = 428.444402 m
Distance from satellite to Earth centre = 10235643.88 m
Distance from satellite to Earth surface = 10235643.88 m - 6371000 m = 3864643.875 m

Within the range of medium earth orbit (orbit home to a number of artificial satellites – the most common uses include navigation, communication, and geodetic/space environment science) so surprisingly makes sense.

As the beam hit from the satellite to Earth surface in 2 seconds Speed = 3864643.875 m / 2 s = 1932321.938 m/s (Mach 5633.591655, Massively hypersonic+)

Also serves as a reference to satellite to Earth surface attack speed feat.

Note

The yield from Hong Kong air blast formula at calculation 2 looks most reasonable to me.

Also this is a feat performed by a subdued and beaten up Ryu, and likely M. Bison is not tapping into Ryu's full power. The actual attack potency is likely higher than energy output from this feat.

Also, Chun-Li and any character within her tier (not Dan Hibiki obviously) is is Mach 1.1 for bullet dodging and sonic boom dodging and 2.16e13 Joules // 5163 Tons of TNT (Small Town level) for her Kikosho.
