Executive Summary[]

Second redux on speed required to run on water surface.

My calculation[]

First, it is agreed the the average weight in the world is 62 kg.

Second the step depth is still agreed to be 0.15 m.

Third, foot surface area is still 330 cm^3

So the final input variable is the time spent to make a step. We still assume every step spent will contribute to the horizontal motion of the character.

Therefore, given step length is 0.79m for men and 0.66m for women, we shall average it to about 0.725 m. We do not add to the 2x the 0.15m that we have for upwards and downwards movement because the horizontal speed movement will be what to be accounted for steps required to make to cross a distance within a period of time.

Now, fiddling around with the calculator a bit using the values we have (62 kg weight, 330 cm^2 foot size, 0.15 m foot depth, Gravity: Earth) gives us that the value that fulfills the above relationship is Time to Take a Step = 0.071782 s.

That values gives 13.6 m/s as "Speed Your Foot Must Hit Water At" (which is our leg movement speed v) and 0.725m/13.6m/s = 0.071782 s as was desired.

So 10.1 m/s is the final result for forward velocity (Peak Human "only")
While 13.6 m/s is the final result for "Speed Your Foot Must Hit Water At" (Superhuman "only")
