So, in light of this thread, we need some new calcs. I have some new calcs. Let's not waste time, shall we?

The Night Sky Sword, while it didn't absorb a night's sky of stars, did block out their luminosity, and in fact, the luminosity of the sun at large across the entire Underworld (Which, to clarify, isn't in fact the entire planet but a continent upon it). Absorbing that much light has a calcable value, so let's get into it.

The sun's luminosity is 3.827 × 10^26 watts, which just is 3.827e+26 joules

The distance from the earth to the sun is about 149,600,000,000 meters

4 times pi times 149,600,000,000^2 is a surface area of 2.8123738e+23 square meters between the sun and the Underworld, 3.827e+26 divided by 2.8123738e+23 is 1360.77217047 joules per square meter.

I'm going to borrow User blog:DemonGodMitchAubin/Kirito Shakes the World this, not for irony but for the fact they already measure out the underworld for me, making this go nice and smooth.

2906750 times 2211135 divided by 2 (as it is roughly a triangle in this illustration) is 3.2136083e+12 square meters for the whole thing

3.2136083e+12 times 1360.77217047 is 4.3729887e+15, but I'm not quite done just yet.

He didn't keep absorbing just for a single second. The clip I linked to provide reference for the feat doesn't really show it to it's full glory, mostly because it had to be cut up to avoid copyright strikes, but I estimated that he kept absorbing for about 40 seconds judging by the longest dialogue scene. It may be a bit rough, but at the same time, Gabriel was froze GG'd so it's not too unreasonable to say he spent that long charging up, and the people giving their incarnation to Kirito definitely did have conversations in the process that would have taken some time.

so, 4.3729887e+15 times 40 is...

1.7491955e+17 Joules, 41.8067757307 Megatons, City level

This would actually scale to Kirito's night sky sword in general probably, but him being empowered by the Underworld is a particularly notable example of it being put to use (mostly since he doesn't just burn it all up in a single blow and has at least somewhat of a fight against Gabriel before shoving all of the power into him and forcing him to explode... Speaking of explode, actually...)

... That was going to be followed up by me posting another Blog but honestly there's no reason to do so

Gabriel also just straight up explodes by the end of the fight and Kirito facetanks it with ease. This explosion isn't 7-B by a longshot and I don't doubt there's at least some energy loss between him absorbing it and then detonating, so, let's at least give this a good ol' try.

Kirito facetanking

The screen is 1737 pixels while the explosion is 2595

For anglesizing, the formula is 2*atan(tan(70/2 deg)*(object height/panel height)), which in this case would be 2*atan(tan(70/2 deg)*(2595/1737)), 1.61582962 radians.

To convert to degrees, it's rads*180/π, so, 92.5802176382 degrees

They're pretty close to the cloud layer, and considering the horizontal distance is unaccounted for, I think 600 meters would be a safe estimate for distance overall, and putting that into the anglesize calculator gets 1255.3 meters diameter, which is a radius of 627.65 meters

((.62765/.28)^3)/2 is...

5.63181668065 Kilotons, Small Town level+

Now, funnily enough, this may straight up be an outlier but I mostly wanted to do this out of fun anyways.

For why it's an outlier, well...

  • No other instance of physical durability is even close to this, and it surpasses the AP of plenty of Kirito's techniques, save the Night Sky Sword as elaborated above
  • One could argue that he put up an Incarnation barrier ahead of time, but we see no such thing before the blast and the Light Novel doesn't describe as much either (refer to the quote below), and if he set it up immediately before the blast, one, he'd have to react to a hypersonic explosion (which is possible, but not likely) and he probably wouldn't have been moved in any sense, which we clearly see isn't the case as he's floating face up towards the sky after the blast, a distinctly different position than before
  • This could be an empowered by the world thing, but this explosion was caused by him dumping out all of his power. Maybe a residual amount remained for him to tank it, which could make sense considering even with Low 7-C durability, Gabriel would be 7-B considering he can match Kirito's normal hits in this key and such wouldn't really contradict him easily removing Kirito's arm
I was not afraid at all.

The void filling the inside of the enemy was like a black hole, but my own body was also swirling with a gargantuan, gleaming galaxy created with the prayers of each and every human being. Within the long beams of blue-violet light bulging out of Gabriel’s eye sockets and mouth, the spectrum began to slowly shift. From violet to red. Then orange. Past yellow — and then pure white. Pshk. That slight noise signified the appearance of a tiny crack in the liquid metal body enveloping the Night Sky Sword. And then another. And another. White light was peeking out from the fractures. The bottoms of the six wings on his back were set ablaze. The edges of his cackling mouth were greatly damaged, as holes opened up in his shoulders and chest. Even as pillars of light poked out in all directions from the fissures covering his entire body, Gabriel never abandoned his laughter. “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!” His voice grew shriller and shriller, eventually becoming a highpitched metallic frequency. The black archangel’s whole body, completely wrapped in white cracks— Crumbled inwards and collapsed in an instant. Then released outwards. An explosion of intimidating scale shot up into the distant heavens, corkscrewing as it went.

So yeah.
