Introduction[]

In Street Fighter V, Chun-Li and Karin bust down some steel doors. I’ll be calculating the AP yield of this. I'll be calculating the part where Karin does this since that actually gives some good shots to measure, but Chun-Li has the exact same feat.

Calculation[]

Karin’s Height = 162 cm (official height) = 1.62 meters = 187 px

1.62 / 187 = 0.009 meters per px

Karin Head Height = 27 px = 0.243 meters

Door Height = 627 px = 5.643 meters

Door Length = 504 px = 4.536 meters

I’ll use a different shot to find the width since there isn’t a good shot here.

Karin’s Head Height = 0.243 meters = 218 px

0.243 / 218 = 0.0011 meters per px

Door Width = 210 px = 0.231 meters

Door Volume = length * width * height

Door Volume = 4.536 * 0.231 * 5.643 = 5.91 meters^3

I’m gonna use two methods here, because the door was both sent flying and fragmented.

Kinetic Energy:

This one requires the distance that the door flew. The timeframe far less than 1 second after checking multiple times, so I’ll use a timeframe of 0.5 seconds.

Panel Height = 768 px

Use this formula to determine the distance that the chunk of the door traveled:

Distance = (Object Size in Meters * Panel Height in Pixels) / [Object Size in Pixels * 2tan(70/2 deg)]

Distance = (1.62 * 768) / [187 * 2tan(70/2 deg)] = 4.75 meters

With the timeframe of 0.5 seconds, that means the speed is 9.5 m/s

Density of Steel = 8050 kg/m^3

Steel Door Mass = 5.91 * 8050 = 47280 kg

KE = 0.5 * mass * velocity^2 = 0.5 * 47280 * 9.5^2

Fragmentation:

Door Volume = 5.91 meters^3 = 5.91e+6 cc

Fragmentation of Steel = 208 Joules/cc

Yield = 5.91e+6 * 208 (in joules, then convert to tons of TNT)

Final Results[]

Chun-Li and Karin Bust Some Doors:

Method 1 = 0.0005 tons (2.13 megajoules); Wall level (9-B) ACCEPTED

Method 2 = 0.29 tons; Building level (8-C)
