Introduction[]
In chapter 17 of Kid Icarus: Uprising, Pyrrhon pushes the Aurum Brain away from Earth. I’ll be calculating the kinetic energy of this.
Calculation[]
First up, curvature scaling. Everyone's favorite.
Earth Diameter = 1560 px = 12742000 meters
Panel Height = 111 px
True Earth Diameter = sqrt(1-(tan(35)*(planet diameter in pixels/panel height in pixels))^2/((tan(35)*(planet diameter in pixels/panel height in pixels))^2+1))*planet diameter
True Earth Diameter = sqrt(1-(tan(35)*(1560/111))^2/((tan(35)*(1560/111))^2+1))*12742000 = 1892277.35 meters
1892277.35 / 1560 = 1213 meters per px
I’ll be measuring the length of the flame blast here and then use another image to scale that to the Aurum Brain because the image in this curvature scaling picture is just that small.
Flame Blast Length = 16.12 px = 19553.56 meters
Flame Blast Length = 19553.56 meters = 102.58 px
19553.56 / 102.58 = 190.62 meters per px
Aurum Brain Diameter = 126 px = 24018.12 meters
Aurum Brain Radius = 24018.12 / 2 = 12009.06 meters
Aurum Brain Volume = (4/3) * pi * radius^3 = 7.2546364e+12 meters^3
Density of Steel = 8050 kg/meters^3
Aurum Brain Mass = 7.2546364e+12 * 8050 = 5.8399823e+16 kg
It’s got insides and stuff kind of like a building, so I’ll take off 50% for hollowness.
True Aurum Brain Mass = 5.8399823e+16 * 0.5 = 2.9199912e+16 kg (Class P)
Pyrrhon pushed this, so this should scale to his lifting strength.
Now for KE via the speed of this thing, I’ve gotta do some different pixel scaling.
Aurum Brain Diameter = 24018.12 meters = 114 px
If you’re wondering why the px value is different, it’s because this screenshot is at the very moment the scene cuts to it leaving so I can get the most accurate distance value possible.
24018.12 / 114 = 210.69 meters per px
Distance Traveled = 317.13 px = 66816.12 meters
Going into the video, I counted a timeframe of 7 seconds.
Aurum Brain Speed = 66816.12 / 7 = 9545.16 m/s
Kinetic Energy = 0.5 * mass * speed^2 = 0.5 * 2.9199912e+16 * 9545.16^2 = 1.3302032e+24 Joules
