Chariot outpaces the Hanged Man, OVA edition.
We actually see the Hanged Man (who is stated to move at the speed of light off reflective surfaces) start traveling, almost reach the coin, then Chariot comes out, flies up to catch it, overtakes it, and slashes it. And for some reason the distance Chariot would need to travel is a fuckton larger then in the manga (Kakyoin threw the coin to such a height it was thrown over J.Geil, who was on a cliff and when Chariot chases it it heads past J.Geil and the pov, confirming that the distance as well) Anyway.
Distance
We get a top down view of when Chariot begins to come out and after the coin gets launched and the Hanged Man flies at it (which should be just above the pov), so it'll be our distance that Chariot traveled.
Scaling Pol would be a needless hassle. I'm just gonna use his shoulders as a benchmark to scale given how fucking massive OVA JoJo characters are, if anything it's a low-end.
“ | A little bit goes a long way in shoulder width . . . 20-inch-wide shoulders look significantly broader than average shoulders; 21-inch shoulders will get plenty of attention; 22-inch shoulders will draw stares from almost everyone; 23-inch shoulders are super heroic and will get you a ticket on the front row of Mr. Olympia contests; and 24-inch shoulders are as rare as a 500-pound overhead press. | „ |
~ Ellington Darden (Real-Man Shoulders) |
So Pol's shoulders are 60.96cm minimum.
Object in pixels = 24 px
Screen height = 1080 px
Object size = 60.96 cm
60.96*1080/(24*2*tan(70deg/2)) = 1958.84780605cm.
1958.84780605=19.5884780605 meter.
Then add 193cm for Chariot's diving slash (he crossed his own body distance in that move at minimum, Chariot being minimally taller than Polnareff who's of 193cm (with his hair)).
1958.84780605+193=2151.84780605cm.
Distance for Hanged Man
Well we got the minimum distance for Chariot, we just need to know how much distance Hanged Man was from the coin upon Chariot chasing.
Gonna use a low-end (mostly because the distance changes between the initial chase and actually getting slashed, albeit only by a few cm).
The coin Kakyoin tosses is a Indian 1980 1 Rupee coin, Wikipedia says those are 20mm in diameter.
In the first frame here Hanged Man is 4.1052631578947368cm away from the coin.
At the very last frame before Chariot slices Hanged Man (He doesn't move any further past this frame) it's 2.4383561643835616cm away from the coin.
4.1052631578947368-2.4383561643835616=1.16683489545782264.
Ergo Hanged Man crossed around 1.16683489545782264cm.
Speed
Hanged Man crossed 1.6669069935111752cm while Chariot crossed 2151.84780605cm.
2151.84780605/1.6669069935111752=1290.9225376260164346461
Thus 1290.9225376260164346461x faster than the Hanged Man or 1290.9225376260164346461c. MFTL+.
It's still MFTL+ even without the diving slash (around 1180x).
