- Genie Magic: Being Half-Genie makes Shantae naturally magical.

- Hair Whip: Shantae's main method of attack, in which she whips her pony-tail back and forth rapidly to attack foes.

Belly Dances[]
Fusion Magic[]
Fusion Magic is introduced in Seven Sirens as a replacement for her normal Belly Dances. There are two types of Fusion Magic: Fusion Coins which function identically to Belly Dances, but don't require a dance to use and Fusion Dances which are wide range of environment-affecting powers.
- Dash Newt: Identical to Shantae's Monkey form which allows her to dash through the air and cling to vertical surfaces.

Pirate Gear[]
At the end of Risky's Revenge, Shantae has lost her Genie Magic and with it access to all of her transformations. In Pirate's Curse, Shantae is tasked with finding all of Risky's missing gear. This serves as a replacement for her lost transformations for the remainder of the game. Shantae loses all this gear at the end of Pirate's Curse.
- Flintlock Pistol - A basic ranged attack, that can be upgraded to deal more damage.
- Pirate Hat - Shantae uses the hat as a parachute to slow her decent while falling.
- Scimitar - A basic melee weapon that Shantae mostly uses in a quick charge attack.
- Risky's Boots - Gradually boosts Shantae's speed the longer she runs.
- Cannon - A large cannon meant to be mounted on a ship. Shantae uses it mostly to boost her jump height. It is still a cannon and can be used as such.
Optional Costumes[]
In Half-Genie Hero, Shantae has a number of optional costumes she can wear which grant her varying abilities. These costumes also restrict her belly dances, limiting her to just her costume abilities.
A green ninja costume Shantae can wear which boosts her speed, agility, and magic, but reduces her defense. The costume also comes with a short sword and many shuriken that function as her main method of attack. She can cling to and jump off of walls and even turn invisible with a short range teleport.
A costume based on the Protagonist of Wayforward's other other game Mighty Switch Force. She gets an pellet gun but loses the ability to swim or crouch. Shantae also has access to Might Switch Force's main gimmick of Switch Blocks.
Shantae's beach outfit. Greatly reduces defense including her resistance to sunburns. She can still use her hair whip, and has a beach ball she can throw to damage foes. She can also create a bubble around herself which allows her to float briefly.
Shantae's pajamas which have reduced resistances but which grant Shantae a few unique abilities.
- Pillow: With her hair unbound, Shantae loses her hair whip attack and instead replaces it with her pillow.
- Dream Cloud: Shantae conjures a small cloud she can float on.
- Leveling: Shantae can "level up" by collecting gems. This increases her damage done with her pillow.
- Wooly Summoning: A unique magic ability Shantae has that lets her summon a sheep which will run around attack enemies. The sheep's damage is also boosted when she levels up.
