Alright, this will be the first blog post of it's kind in preparation of a creation of a Jibril page. In this post, I will calculate some feasible speeds of Jibril given her best showing (which is in Volume 6 of the NGNL Light Novel).

But before that, let's give you an introduction into what an Ex-Machina is. An Ex-Machine is the 10th ranked race in NGNL, essentially a race of machines build to go to war with exceedingingly large numbers. They were abandoned by their god at some point and now rely on a collective intelligence within a certain range to deal with the godly threats that plague Disboard's predecessor world.

One thing the Ex-Machinas is well known for is their reaction and calculation speed.

Here are a few examples (only read if you want proof):

Upper Limits of Ex-Machina in a collective: “To induce downwards all attacks from all camps through the [Eensweg], they won’t make it within the difference of “10^-609 milliseconds”, and the power will collide and swirl. To grant it directivity and make it converge after that was---impossible” (NGNL Volume 6, page 273).

WoG Reaction Speed against a God of the Highest Tier: <[Objective, Artosh Essence]----change phenomena within milliseconds, assume that even the conversion of law is possible" (NGNL Vol 6, page 285).

Observation Speed: "From the Ex-Machinas that were in combat, in the 0.0007 seconds of activation of the True Dragon’s Far Cry, about 2% were vaporized" (NGNL Vol 6, page 285).

Movement Speed: "Falling behind for 0.018 seconds until they received the information from Zea[Observation Unit], the Proofers took a fast-action (NGNL Vol 6, page 285).Calculation + Transfer Speed: Also it took 0.4 seconds until the information about the estimated damage calculation recreated by the Zweihen[Examination Unit] got analyzed and transferred to the Bepher[Command Unit]" (NGNL Vol 6, page 163).

Spell Speed: ".....Manifestation, is, 10^-46 square seconds.... destruction, power expel, manifestation, will be immediate......" (NGNL Vol 6, page 217).

So they are by all means a fast race. In this feat, Jibril does the following: blocks and shrugs off a powerful attack that made her deploy magic, closes the distance between her and the Ex-Machina in 0.000023 seconds, and rips open a hole in space to prevent her Ex-Machina opponent from fleeing.

The problem with this calc, however, is that the distance between Jibril and Shuvi is unknown. But because the fight is described play by play, I will attempt to approximate that distance here. To do so, I need to give a play by play of the battle up to that point.

1. Shuvi runs away, then Jibril teleports in front of her "Having erased distance itself through Spatial Teleport [Shift], and circled around her, Jibril scorned." (NGNL Vol 6, page 227)

2. Shuvi - who is in range of Jibril's light "sword" - defends against the attack "She pointed the ultra-high concentrated elements from the earlier acceleration, towards the upcoming light blade that couldn't be defended against" (NGNL Vol 6, page 227)

.3. Afterwards. Shuvi disappears from Jibril's vision via a burst of speed "Looking over at the direction the attack's blue light had cut off, Jibril felt troubled that ShuVi's figure wasn't there" (NGNL Vol 6, page 227).

4. Shuvi then fires an attack at Jibril, who had not moved and merely turned to the attack "Jibril turned her eyes towards the upcoming light, and got engulfed in that light" (NGNL Vol 6, page 229).

5. In the instant the attack hit Jibril, Shuvi activated her dimensional transfer magic "At the same time she confirmed the blast, ShuVi activated the armament" (NGNL Vol 6, page 229).

6. In the middle of the transfer process, Jibril interrupts "In the middle of 0.000046 seconds before the broken space closed, a painfully insufficient time. Jibril inserted her hands in the space" (NGNL Volume 6, page 230)

Alright, so there's the background on the feat. If you noticed, however, we were given a couple things to work with, namely that

A) Shuvi was in range of Jibril's light blade upon Jibril attacking her

B) After Shuvia counterattacked, she was nowhere in sight of Jibril

C) Jibril had to turn to look at the incoming second attack

A) is easy to calculate. The average length of a woman's arm is 71 cm and the average length of a general sword is 70-80 cm. This leaves us with a minimum distance of 140 cm or 1.4 m away.

B) is where we can start to speculate. If the distance Shuvi was at before was not comparable to her initial distance, then she must have been 10-20 x as far away at another angle. This gives us a range of 14-28 m away. Note that while this is by far the most questionable step in the series, Jibril had to cast defensive magic, deflect the attack, get to Shuvi's position AND insert her arm in the space in 0.000023 seconds.

It's easy from there.

Low end: 14m/0.000023s= 608,695.56522m/s=2,191,304.348km/hr= Mach 1774.623

High end: 28m/0.000023s=1,217,391.304m/s=4,382,6-8.696km/hr=Mach 3549.246

I'd appreciate any comments about this calc, especially about the distance thing and better ways to measure it.

Edit: from Don'tTalk's comments, I will treat the time interval as being thrice as long because the opening of the hole must be included and that should be equivalent to the timeframe of the closing of the hole.[]
