Tyrian Callows Render
Salem is destruction incarnate! Our mistress wishes to see the end of it all! There is no ideal more beautiful.
~ Tyrian Callows

Summary

Tyrian Callows is one of the main antagonists in RWBY. A known serial killer, he is an associate of Salem and part of her inner circle. He first serves as a main antagonist in Volume 4, hunting down Ruby Rose on the order of Salem. He again serves as one in Volume 7 alongside Arthur Watts. Tyrian is described as being psychotic incarnate and someone who wants to see the world burn. He is a highly unstable, disturbed, maladjusted, manipulative, and outright sadistic individual. He frequently bursts into fits of uncontrollable, maniacal laughter and relishes in gruesome thoughts, such as the idea of removing one of Ruby's eyes in payment for her taking one of Cinder Fall's. His depravity is described in The World of RWBY: The Official Companion as someone who is irredeemable.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 8-A

Name: Tyrian Callows

Origin: RWBY

Gender: Male

Age: Mid-Late 30s

Classification: Faunus (Scorpion), Serial Killer, Member of Salem's Inner Circle

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Aura (Able to use his Aura for numerous purposes), Forcefield Creation (Aura can be used as a full-body forcefield), Statistics Amplification (Can use Aura to enhance his striking power), Enhanced Senses (Can use his Aura to sharpen his senses), Regeneration (Low), Extrasensory Perception (His Aura allows him to sense things around him), Acrobatics, Weapon Mastery, Martial Arts (Skilled Hand-to-Hand Combatant), Accelerated Development (Training [Physical Statistics and Abilities; Even Huntsmen in Training are able to rapidly develop in short periods of time, becoming significantly stronger and faster and evolving their abilities through short periods of training]), Natural Weaponry (Stinger), Poison Manipulation (Via Stinger), Acid Manipulation and Corrosion Inducement (His venom has corrosive properties), Power Nullification (Via Semblance), Resistance to Extreme Heat and Cold (Aura protects the user from sub-zero temperatures, allowing them to be encased in ice without being cold, walk through a blizzard in casual clothing[1], and traverse the kingdom of Atlas, which resides in Remnant's North Pole,[2] without wearing any protective gear, as well as extreme heat up to and including the heat of flames,[3], being blasted with steam[4] being struck by lighting for an extended period of time,[5][6][7] and being submerged in lava without being burned[8])

Attack Potency: Multi-City Block level (Fought Qrow Branwen to a standstill. Later in Atlas fought both Qrow and Clover Ebi simultaneously before splitting them up)

Speed: FTL Reactions and Combat Speed (Casually blitzed Team RNJR and was able to keep up with Qrow, with their fight being depicted as moving so fact that they were only seen as a blur of motion by Ruby. Casually deflected Ruby's bullets without even needing to look at them as well as a High Voltage amped Nora)

Lifting Strength: Class G (Comparable to Qrow)

Striking Strength: Multi-City Block level (Could harm Qrow with his strikes)

Durability: Multi-City Block level (Took numerous blows from Qrow and Clover), higher with Aura (Aura functions as a forcefield with a cumulative durability, depicted as a 'health bar', that allows him to take dozens of hits from opponents as strong as himself without any significant injury)

Stamina: Superhuman (Can face off against Clover and Qrow for a period of time, and wasn't shown to be tired by the end. Could dislocate his thumb to escape cuffs without showing any signs of pain)

Range: Standard melee range to tens of meters with The Queen's Servants, Extended melee range to several meters with his tail

Standard Equipment: The Queen's Servants, Prosthetic Stinger

Intelligence: Gifted (While his psychotic traits may suggest otherwise, he is incredibly skilled in combat. He is smart enough to know which targets to prioritize, and he has the forethought to hide his Faunus trait in order to get an advantage against his opponents. Tyrian's fighting style makes effective use of all five of his limbs, allowing him to engage multiple opponents at once with minimal difficulty, though his style is not flawless as his chaotic mindset does leave him open to attacks from superior strategists. His fighting style appears to be based on his nature as a scorpion Faunus, fighting much like a real scorpion through his weapons and tail, reacting quickly to enemy movements and can seemingly detect attempts to attack from blind spots such as his back. Since he has no normal battle style he is nearly impossible to predict against in a fight, making moves that are absurd and chaotic which make him even harder to hit such as utilizing breakdancing moves in his fights against RNJR as well as Qrow, Clover and Robyn)

Weaknesses: When Tyrian appears to have the upper hand in a fight he becomes overconfident and careless, letting himself take hits as long as he can continue to press the advantage. Continual damage to his Aura will cause it to decay to the point where he can be left open to more significant damage. Aura's durability is cumulative; it will deplete with each attack he takes and can be brought down by characters of similar strength. Semblances drain aura by a small amount and without aura they cannot be used until the user's aura is recharged. Constant exposure to extreme temperature can drain the user's aura.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • The Queen's Servants: Tyrian's weapons of choice, a set of dual wrist blades resembling scorpion's pincers. These attach to his vambraces, and are equipped with light-caliber automatic firearms.
  • Scorpion Stinger: Tyrian uses his stinger in combat, which he can contract and extend at will. The stinger is shown to be remarkably durable as it blocks Nora's attack, even when Nora was powered by her Semblance. Much like how scorpion stingers are usually a conduit for venom, Tyrian's stinger can inject venom when used as a barb. The venom is potent enough to corrode stone and incapacitate someone simply grazed by his stinger within less than a day. After the battle against Qrow and Team RNJR, Tyrian lost his organic stinger after being bisected by Ruby, having to get it replaced by Arthur Watts with a prosthetic stinger.
  • Aura Disruption: Tyrian's Semblance, which allows him to disrupt people's Aura. When activated, Tyrian's eyes and his arms glow purple, and the area of Aura that he touches fades away, leaving the victim defenseless to a killing blow. Because Aura is the shielding of a person's body, his temporary removal of spots allows him to attack full-force, just as if they were without Aura in that spot.
