Summary

Tymaret, known by the humans of Theros as The Murder King, is an undead warrior and the de facto leader of Odunos, the polis inhabited by the more violent Returned who have escaped the clutches of the plane's Underworld and its God Erebos. Tymaret commands its best warriors in organized raids against the living. During the war between the gods, Erebos raised Tymaret into demigodhood to fight for him.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 9-B | least 6-C, likely higher

Key: Base | Chosen From Death

Name: Tymaret, The Murder King, Tymaret, Chosen from Death

Origin: Magic: The Gathering

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown

Classification: Legendary Creature, Zombie Warrior, Returned | Legendary Enchantment Creature, Demigod, Champion of Erebos

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Immortality (Type 7), Magic (Proficient Black and Red mana user), Martial Arts (Skilled in hand to hand combat), Weapon Mastery (Skilled swordsman), Resurrection (Can both resurrect himself and resurrect others as Returned zombies to fight alongside him), Self-Sustenance (Type 2, Returned require air and water but not food), Resistance to Soul Manipulation (Lacks a soul)

All abilities as base plus Blessed (Received a blessing from Erebos), Reactive Power Level (His durability increases the more Black mana is present in any form), BFR (Can exile the dead to the Underworld), Healing

Attack Potency: Wall level (As the king of the Returned who both lead attacks against the cities of Theros and defended against attacking warriors he should be physically comparable to warriors of Theros who are capable of fighting off Leonin warriors, Minotaurs, and Giants, and should be at last as strong as warriors among his ranks such as Returned Centaurs and Returned Soldiers.) | At least Island level, likely higher (Should be comparable to other Demigods such as Daxos)

Speed: Unknown | Likely Massively Hypersonic Reactions and Combat Speed (Should be comparable to Daxos)

Lifting Strength: Class 5 (Should be at least as strong as if not stronger than the Gray Merchant of Ashpodel) | At least Class 5 (Should be at least as strong as his base form if not stronger)

Striking Strength: Wall level | At least Island level, likely higher

Durability: Wall level | At least Island level, likely higher, higher with Devotion (His durability increases the more Black mana is present in any form)

Stamina: High (Returned seldom need rest and need no sustenance save for water.)

Range: Standard melee range, extended melee range with sword

Standard Equipment: Sword, Golden Mask

Intelligence: Average (As a Returned Tymaret has little to intelligence beyond a single compulsion, this being his constant need to deprive the living of the joys of life. In this state he has no identity of his own, no memories of his past, and no capacity for holding long term memories. As such, while he is sapient and feels emotions, his existence is nothing but shadow-play, being unable to connect with other living beings and form an actual identity, forever in a state of negative emotions and empty routines. However, Tymaret displays some intelligence beyond a basic Returned, able to effectively lead an army of its greatest warriors as the leader of Odunos and knowing basic strategy such as performing raids at night when his enemies are asleep.)

Weaknesses: Has little capacity for thought beyond destroying the lives of the living | Erebos' will is able to override Tymaret's (Though this rarely if ever happens in combat and thus is not combat applicable)

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Devotion: As part of the blessing given to Tymaret by Erebos upon making him his champion, Tymaret gains increased durability from Devotion to Black mana. The more Black mana present in any form, be it magic, enchantments, even allies, the greater his durability becomes.
