~ Tracer's catchphrase

Summary

Lena Oxton (call sign: "Tracer") was the youngest person ever inducted into Overwatch's experimental flight program. Known for her fearless piloting skills, she was handpicked to test the prototype of a teleporting fighter, the Slipstream. But during its first flight, the aircraft's teleportation matrix malfunctioned, and it disappeared. Lena was presumed dead. She reappeared months later, but her ordeal had greatly changed her: her molecules had been desynchronized from the flow of time. Suffering from "chronal disassociation," she was a living ghost, disappearing for hours and days at a time. Even for the brief moments she was present, she was unable to maintain physical form.

Overwatch's doctors and scientists were stumped, and Tracer's case seemed hopeless until Winston designed the chronal accelerator, a device capable of keeping Tracer anchored in the present. In addition, it gave Tracer the ability to control her own time, allowing her to speed it up and slow it down at will. With her newfound skills, she became one of Overwatch's most effective agents. Tracer’s first mission took place in London, where she and her team successfully halted the Null Sector forces involved in the King’s Row uprising. It was the start of a stellar career: she would go on to help apprehend a valuable contact of Talon, Maximilien, in Havana. With the lead Maximilien had given them, Tracer’s strike team then put Talon’s leader, Doomfist, behind bars.

Following the disbandment of Overwatch, Tracer was dissatisfied with her quiet life, of replacing heroism with a desk job in the Royal Air Force. Shortly after leaving the military, an encounter with a like-minded omnic named Iggy led Tracer to the Underworld, where her eyes were opened to the harsh conditions the omnic population of London resided in. Assisting in repairs on the Underworld's Grid earned her an audience with the leader of the Shambali, Tekhartha Mondatta, though disaster was soon to follow.

Tensions between humans and omnics boiled over when Widowmaker’s crosshairs fell on Mondatta. Though Tracer was present at the event and even fought the sniper, she was unsuccessful in thwarting the assassination. The response was explosive and immediate—Mondatta’s message of peace drowned out in a sea of pain and stolen hope. When an omnic with possible ties to Null Sector stepped forward to rally the omnics of the Underworld in a full-blown revolution against humans, it was only through the combined efforts of Tracer, Winston, and Iggy that no one else was hurt. Though she was grievously wounded in the process, Tracer can always be counted on to bounce back. With the help of Winston and her partner, Emily, Tracer made a full recovery, rejoining Winston and answering his Overwatch recall broadcast. Though she failed to stop Widowmaker in London, she thwarted the sniper in reclaiming Doomfist’s gauntlet in New York. And in Paris, Tracer was there to repel Null Sector, helping the newly re-formed Overwatch put a stop to any threat to peace. With her irrepressible energy and boundless idealism, Tracer inspires her team—and all who know her—to fight for a better future.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 8-C, likely High 8-C

Name: Lena Oxton, Tracer

Origin: Overwatch

Gender: Female

Age: 26

Classification: Human, Overwatch Agent

Powers and Abilities:

Chronal Accelerator

  • Time Manipulation/Time Travel (The Chronal Accelerator grants Tracer the ability to freely control her own personal time, allowing her to speed it up and slow it down at will[2]. She can also freely rewind her own time, undoing any wounds she recently received in the process as well as undoing negative effects such as being poisoned[3]or set on fire, as well reload her weapons endlessly by reversing time for her pulse rounds.)
  • Teleportation (Via Blink)

Weapons

Attack Potency: Building level, likely Large Building level (Able to fight and defeat Talon Heavy Assault Units, which can withstand this much energy with no damage.[1] Fought and defeated numerous OR-14-NS and Bastion Units during the invasion of King's Row.[5] Matched Widowmaker.[3][6] During her time in Overwatch she regularly sparred with Genji[7] and was shown to be physically comparable to him as well as Mercy[1] and Torbjörn[5])

Speed: Subsonic movement speed (Able to move this fast), higher via Time Manipulation (The Chronal Accelerator allows Tracer to increase her speed by accelerating her own personal time.[2] Tracer is able to amplify her speed to the point of being able to run across London multiple times in a few minutes while stopping to help people along the way[8] and casually outspeeding a motorcycle[9]), Hypersonic+ reaction and combat speed (Regularly sparred with Genji, with him remarking that he had trouble keeping up with her.[7] Dodged missiles.[10] Dodged a shot from Widowmaker's sniper rifle.[3] Able to blitz Doomfist to the point that he had to analyze her movement and anticipate where she would teleport in order to land a hit on her[11])

Lifting Strength: At least Athletic Human (Physically grappled Widowmaker[3])

Striking Strength: Building level, likely Large Building level

Durability: Building level, likely Large Building level (Able to take hits from Widowmaker and withstand the blast of her own Pulse Bomb[3])

Stamina: Superhuman (Can fight for hours in heated firefights with Omnics and terrorists)

Range: Standard Melee Range; Tens of Meters with Pulse Pistols

Standard Equipment: Pulse Pistols, Pulse Bombs, Chronal Accelerator

Intelligence: Unknown. At least Gifted in combat (As one of Overwatch's most famous and proactive agents, Tracer is a fearless combatant and a skilled combatant. In combat, Tracer combines her marksmanship skill, acrobatic prowess, and time-enhanced speed to act as a highly unpredictable fighter, repeatedly teleporting and amplifying her speed in order to constantly stay in her opponent's blind spots and avoid attacks while peppering them with non-stop hails of focused gunfire.[11] Though her guns are primarily close-range weapons, she has a high-degree of accuracy with them, being able to accurately hit targets with singular bullets such as shooting a pipe while mid-flip to create a smokescreen[3], and even when wielding normal submachineguns she has shown the ability to disarm an entire mob by shooting the guns out of their hands.[9] Her skill has even commended by marksmen as good as D.Va[12], and she has also shown equal marksmanship skill with other weapons, such as Widowmaker's rifle.[6] Due to being trained in field combat by Overwatch, Tracer is also skilled in close quarters combat, having shown the ability to incapacitate Talon troops with her bare hands[1] and even match Widowmaker in hand to hand combat[6])

Weaknesses: If Tracer's Chronal Accelerator is damaged it will cause her abilities to malfunction, potentially to a lethal degree if she is injured during a malfunction as it will repeatedly inflict the same injury on her until the device is stabilized[13], and if the Chronal Accelerator is destroyed completely Tracer's molecules will return to being desynchronized from the flow of time, causing her to phase out of corporeal existence.[11]

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

Technique Description Example
Pulse Pistols

Tracer's primary weapons are her dual Pulse Pistols linked to her chronal accelerator which unleash energy bullets with an extremely high rate of fire, emptying their entire clips in a single second. These deal massive damage at close range but are rather ineffective at longer range due to their natural spread. Due to the weapon being linked to her chronal accelerator they have an unlimited amount of ammunition and reload by rewinding time within the guns themselves.

Blink

Tracer "teleports" by rapidly accelerating time around herself relative to her surroundings, allowing her to move short distances in any direction virtually instantaneously. Tracer is able to use this ability with a high degree of skill, acrobatically flipping at tight angles and quickly ascending and descending platforms as well as slowing or accelerating her descent at will.

Recall

Tracer bounds backward in time, returning her to her previous state, restoring health and undoing injuries, reloading her weapons, and returning her to her previous position on the map to precisely where they were a few seconds before.

Pulse Bomb

Tracer plants or lobs a bomb that adheres to any surface or unfortunate opponent it lands on. After a brief delay, the bomb explodes, dealing high damage to all enemies within its blast radius.
