Summary
The Player Entity is an enigmatic creature that influences Frisk throughout Undertale. Due to seeing Undertale's world as a mere game and its characters as fictional, they seem to lack empathy for the characters and are willing to even kill all of them just to see a different ending. While their existence is rarely alluded to, there are some characters that seem to directly communicate with them at times. In Deltarune, The entity is actively acknowledged as a being who uses a vessel - Kris - to hold their SOUL. They control this SOUL, and through it the vessel, exploring the similar yet different world of Deltarune. At the end of chapter I, Kris removes the SOUL, seemingly becoming freed of The Player's control.
Powers and Stats
Tier: At least Low 1-C
Name: Chara (Their name is the same as the fallen child, as also acknowledged from the latter or being called as such from Flowey; while said name varies in-game, "Chara" is the true one), The Anomaly (Although that is likely someone else), Boss[1]
Gender: Unknown. The Discarded Vessel that the entity was meant to control is presumably Genderless.
Age: Unknown.
Classification: Mysterious Entity, Controller of Frisk and Kris.
Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Space-Time Manipulation, Reality Warping, Existence Erasure & Information Manipulation (Type 2; Capable of performing a TRUE RESET, something Flowey wanted to achieve. Should be the same as Chara, as they were capable of reaching the Absolute thanks to the Player's DETERMINATION and showcased in Deltarune the ability to erase save files in a similar way as them)
- Type 1 Acausality Negation (Stated from Flowey that from using a TRUE RESET, other than the whole of the Undertale world being reset, they would also erase the memories that both he and Frisk gained through resets)
- Body Puppetry (Can control most of Frisk's movements, although they can act on their own sometimes. A possible example being in the fight with Snowdrake's Mother, of which Frisk decides to not follow the selected ACT, of which the narrator is confused by[2])
- Acausality (Type 1; As the player, they exists completely outside of the Undertale world. Considering this, they are unaffected by the RESETs done by Frisk and are unbound by those)
- Supernatural Willpower & Empowerment (Can produce immense amounts of DETERMINATION, which Chara has harnessed)
Likely all previous abilities, plus:
- Existence Erasure & Enhanced Time Manipulation (Can have three saves at once, each seeming to be on a separate timeline, and they can also force the timelines to conform to another one or erase them altogether in a similar way Chara has erased the Undertale world)
- Possibly Avatar Creation (At the beginning of Deltarune, they create a vessel for their SOUL to inhabit, but it is discarded[3])
- Damage Transferal (Transfers the damage they receives to their vessel and allies, even things like the Thrash Machine)
- Power Bestowal (In Chapters 1 & 2 can power up Susie and Ralsei's magic into new forms of themselves: Red Buster and Dual Heal. In Chapter 4 shines on Susie and the Old Man, boosting their DualBuster, enough so that Susie's damage is on par with Gerson's)
- Light Manipulation & Sealing (Same as Kris)
- Telepathy (Capable of reading the minds of the characters in game, a good example being with Noelle in the Weird Route[4][5])
- Possession (Whoever is the vessel for their SOUL is forced to do as they command, but they can cause hesitation if heavily opposed to what they are being forced to do. Can achieve complete possession by really forcing their choices upon their vessel[4])
- Flight (True flight; Can float around when they are not inside a vessel)
- Immersion (Via the Odd Controller. Can transfer themselves into a game and control an avatar just like with HERO_SWORD)
Attack Potency: At least Low Complex Multiverse level (Presumably able to do a TRUE RESET, and with the entity's Determination, Chara was able to reach the absolute. Implied to be the one manipulating the Game World of Deltarune, which is a Game World parallel to Undertale's that contains 3 timelines, with the Player being able to copy, overwrite, or also delete said timelines one per time)
Speed: Immeasurable (While using the Player's Determination, Frisk managed to outrun dodge the Hyper Goner, an attack that consumed an entire timeline)
Lifting Strength: Immeasurable (Should be the same as Frisk at the peak of their Determination due to being the source of said Determination, who could physically react to and resist the pull of the Hyper Goner, an attack that consumed the timeline)
Striking Strength: At least Low Complex Multiverse level
Durability: At least Low Complex Multiverse level (Comparable to Attack Potency. Has survived every action and the destruction of the game without ever being in danger, but this is due to them not being present within the game)
Stamina: Unknown
Range: At least Low Complex Multiversal (Can interact with both the Game Worlds of Undertale and Deltarune while being outside of them)
Standard Equipment: Frisk in Undertale. Kris in Deltarune, although the entity is capable of losing control of them at times.
Intelligence: Unknown
Weaknesses: Can't directly interact with the Undertale world without a host like Frisk. Their host can perform actions on their own if their Determination is strong enough, such as Frisk attempting to access SAVEs during their fight with Asriel without the player's input, and their control over Frisk can even be overridden to an extent by someone powerful enough, such as the brief moments Chara controls Frisk near the end of the genocide route. In Deltarune, removing the SOUL can remove their control over a vessel[3] (though they can still reload to a time where the SOUL wasn't removed), and a vessel can refuse to do an action for a time if opposed to it (Kris refused to drop Lancer, and hesitated to drop the Ball of Junk, needing three commands from the player to do it)[4]
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- RESET: Resets the current timeline by turning back time to the beginning of the game, different actions in done there make the timeline be one different from the previous one.
- TRUE RESET: As before, but this even wipes the memory of those who can remember information after a timeline gets reset multiple times. The only exception to this is Chara, and that is only if they are able to acquire the Player's SOUL.
- Copy: They can force one SAVE to become the copy of another one by what is described as "IT WILL BE SUBSUMED".
- Delete: Simply erases a SAVE, with a confirmed erasure stating "THEN IT WILL BE DESTROYED".
Note:
Note 2: This profile covers a character who, as of now, is still shrouded in mystery and subject to great amounts of speculation. This profile will attempt to only cover the little that is known about the character, and will likely be subject to updates in the future.
