I got this... memory thing. I pick up anyone's moves just by seein' 'em. That's a lotta data. More'n my brain's got room for, I guess. So I... forget things. Things that ain't about combat, about survival. People, places... I can't remember what I did last week. By Monday, I probably won't remember this conversation. I wanted ta fight you 'cause... I thought if I remembered your moves, I might remember you.

Those losers died in the negative zone 'cause they're losers. I ain't about to go out like that. I've been in management too long. That's the problem... what bit me in the ass over the last couple years. I been lettin' other people get dirty for me. Forgot what the smell'a blood's like. Bein' up to yer ankles in someone elses insides. But it's coming back to me. I'm the #$%$ Taskmaster. An' its time to take some folks to school.

You want to know what my super-power is? The preternatural ability that sets me apart from the other jamokes in my line of work? It's not my fabulous fighting abilities. No. Its cowardice. I'm one of the only guys at my level in this game who knows when to cut and run.

Summary

Tony Masters is a man who can mimic and copy physical actions. He considered a career as a crime fighter but decided to become a professional criminal. After using his skills to complete a series of jobs, he used the capital to start an academy to train aspiring professional criminals around the world. Eventually, his operations were discovered and shut down by the Avengers. Since then Taskmaster has worked as a spy, a mercenary and still acts as a teacher to certain individuals, all for the sake of profit.

Some of his more successful students include Crossbones, Cutthroat (both henchmen of the Red Skull), Diamondback, Spymaster, Spider-Woman, and Agent X.

Name: Tony Masters, Taskmaster

Origin: Marvel Comics

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown

Classification: Human, Spy, Mercenary, Martial Artist

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Genius Intelligence, Acrobatics (He has the combined acrobatic skills of various heroes[1]), Master Martial Artist, Skilled in a variety of melee and ranged weaponry, Enhanced Senses and Accelerated Development (He has "photographic reflexes", which enables him to perfectly replicate any movement or action he sees within his physical capabilities. Due to this, Taskmaster can rapidly pick up skills and techniques, without the need for training or practice.[2] Reached Bulleye’s level at golfing just by watching footage of famous golfers in action.[3] His technique improves with each use in combat[4]), Information Analysis (He was able to deduce who Typhoid Mary was simply by seeing her walk, despite the latter being disguised.[5] Could instantly identify Ami Han possessed enhanced senses just by looking at her.[6] Is able to analyze any style he sees within seconds,[7] allowing him to come up with counterattacks,[8] or break down them down into individual Kata's.[9] Could instantly tell the exact fight where Finesse had mimicked her fighting style just by seeing it[10]), Analytical Prediction (He anticipated that Iron Man was going to attack him from behind and somehow replied to his thoughts.[11] He claimed that whatever he can't duplicate, he can anticipate, after doing so to dodge an attack from Spider-Man,[12] and also claimed to "kinda make up" for superpowers he can't duplicate via anticipation, as he maneuvered away to avoid something that he knew Hawkeye would do.[13] He claimed to know Captain America's every move before he does after overwhelming him in combat.[14] He usually claims and proves knowing his opponents' next moves and short-term strategies, dealing, avoiding, or countering them, but it doesn't account for actions he doesn't know they can do and strategies out of character), Preparation (Will often watch recordings of the person he's fighting in advance, allowing him to mimic their movements,[11] anticipate their attacks,[15] and counter their techniques.[16] Will often use preparation to set up traps in advance, such as explosives[17] and tripwires[7]), Master of Disguise, Voice Mimicry, Speed Amplification (Can double his speed at the cost of increased strain upon his body), Stealth Mastery (Infiltrated Stark Industries Vault with ease), Vehicular Mastery (Expert Skier, he can copy the movements of Ghost Rider to gain his mastery of driving[3]), Chi Manipulation (Holds a decade long mastery of Chi by copying an opponent), Pressure Points (As shown here) and Resistance to Fire Manipulation (Tanks a flamethrower canister exploding near him with little to no effect) and Poison (He has built an immunity[18] to most every toxic substance known to man)

Attack Potency: Wall level+ (Fought evenly against Daredevil, who admitted needing to outsmart him to win.[21] He has held his own against the likes of Black Widow,[22] Iron Fist,[23] Deadpool,[24] and Punisher[25] in hand to hand combat). Varies from Building level (Has frequently[11] harmed[26] the likes of Captain America with his gear, and can even match his strength[11] with his shield. Can fight evenly[27] with the likes of Bucky) to Large Building level with equipment (Can incapacitate both Peter Parker and Miles Morales.[17] His arrows can injure Miles Morales,[28] and can knockout Peter Parker with a power-stick[29])

Speed: Superhuman running speed (Ran at speeds "no one could run") with Hypersonic combat speed and reactions (Comparable to Captain America. Blitzed a room full of guards before they could react. Able to blitz a man capable of catching bullets, as well as react to and dodge them. Demonstrated bullet timing on numerous occasions)

Lifting Strength: Athletic Human (Was able to Judo throw Iron Man across a room)

Striking Strength: Wall level+. Varies from Building level to Large Building level with equipment.

Durability: Wall level+ (He was fine after getting thrown into a speeding car and could fight after getting shot). Large Building level with equipment (His sword can endure hits from Miles Morales without damage[30]). Far higher with his shield (His shield is stated to be an exact replica of Captain America's[31])

Stamina: At least Peak Human

Range: Standard Melee Range; Dozens of Meters with arrows; Hundreds of Meters with shield throw and guns

Standard Equipment: Sword, Shield, Bow and various trick arrows, Various Firearms, Billy Club, Claws, Lasso, Bolas, Nunchucks, Throwing Darts, Web-shooters, Crossbow, Image-Inducer (allows him to take the appearance of anyone he sees), S.H.I.E.L.D Energy Weapon (a device capable of forming solid energy constructs). He has also been shown sticking to walls suggesting that he has special gloves and perhaps boots which can approximate Spider-Man's wall-crawling ability.

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (Can duplicate almost any physical activity he sees after seeing it done by someone else only once and copy the subtle muscle movements of others so precisely that he can at times do things such as copying another person's voice so precisely as to fool voice recognition software. Has mastered fighting styles of a variety of skilled individuals, can even copy techniques and martial arts that are physically impossible for human beings to imitate. Holds a decade long mastery of chi, and has mastery in other arts like poker, cooking, skiing, golf and driving.)

Weaknesses: Whenever he copies something new, it pushes old memories out of his brain in a form of amnesia. Can't copy the meaning behind the actions (for example, he might be able to play an instrument like a master after watching a virtuoso play, but that doesn't mean he can read music.) Self-admitted cowardice comparatively to many other Marvel Comics characters. His predictive ability can be disrupted should his opponent repeatedly alter their fighting style[7] or move in an erratic, unpredictable fashion.[32]

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Photographic Reflexes: Taskmaster's primary power and the main source of virtually all his other abilities. Taskmaster can perfectly replicate the physical movements of peak level humans through simple observation. This ability isn't just limited to seeing the original user perform the action in the flesh, it works equally well by watching video recordings. Early in his career Taskmaster learned a lot of skills simply by watching news footage and recordings of several members of the Avengers in action. By watching a video of an action in fast forward he can move at superhuman speeds, but doing so places extremely high levels of strain on his body and can only be used in shorts bursts. A side effect of this power is memory loss, the more knowledge and abilities that he learns, the more of his personal memories he losses.
  • Martial Arts Mastery: Taskmaster is arguably one of the best hand to hand combatants in the Marvel Universe. He has perfectly replicated the fighting styles of several of the most skilled martial artists in his verse including Electra, Iron Fist, Shang-Chi, Captain America and Wolverine. He even proved skilled enough to teach Captain America's fighting style. What makes Taskmaster so formidable is the fact that once he has mastered any fighting style he can recall it at any time he wants, as a result, he is capable of cycling through multiple high-level techniques in rapid succession, which makes him hard to read during a fight. Spider-Man even stated that fighting Taskmaster was like fighting 7 of the Avengers at the same time. Taskmaster is also extremely knowledgeable of pressure points, even being able to subdue a giant with this skill. He also likely has some knowledge of chi, he claimed to have mastered the art of chi during a fight with a chi user and has fought against various martial artists with chi abilities.
  • Skilled Swordsman: Taskmaster is a highly skilled swordsman after having copied the abilities of the Black Knight, Silver Samurai, and the Swordsman. He frequently carries a sword into battle and has proven skilled enough to fight lesser ranking Asgardians in battle with his sword skills and to blitz an entire room full of people.
  • Master Marksman: Taskmaster is a deadly accurate marksman with a huge variety of projectile weapons. Through observation of the Punisher, he is a master with various firearms. By copying Hawkeye he is a Master Archer, who capable of pulling off trick shots equal to the original. By mimicking Bullseye, he is a master at the use of various improvised projectiles as weapons, and like Bullseye he has near-perfect accuracy and the ability to turn virtually any object into a lethal weapon.
  • Exceptional Agility and Athletic Ability: Through observation of several more agile superheroes, Taskmaster is an exceptional athlete. He is capable of flawlessly performing complex acrobatic movements by having copied the likes of Daredevil, Black Panther and even Spider-Man. Taskmaster also uses web-shooters like Spider-Man to better duplicate Spider-Man's style of movement, however, he cannot flawlessly replicate Spidey, due to him being physically inferior.
  • Physical Movement Prediction: Once Taskmaster has learned and mastered his opponent's movements, he is capable of predicting their movements and countering accordingly. The only individual who is shown to be capable of negating this ability is Deadpool, as his manic nature makes him nearly impossible to predict.
  • Voice Mimicry: Separate from his Photographic Reflexes, Taskmaster can alter his vocal cords to copy and mimic the voice of other people. Coupled with his device that enables him to duplicate the appearance of anyone he sees makes him a master of disguise.
