Summary

Peter Parker AKA Spider-Man is a primary protagonist from the Marvel vs. Capcom series. When visiting a public science exhibit, the teenaged Peter was bitten by a radioactive spider. The bite gifted him with superhuman abilities which all correlated with specific traits that spiders possess. Originally, Peter planned to use his powers to make money in show business, but his life took a tragic turn. When a burglar was on the run, Parker chose not to stop him when he easily could have, leading to him soon learning his Uncle Ben had been murdered. Peter confronted the killer and cornered him, only to learn that it was the same burglar he decided to let go. It was this event as well as his uncle's words of "With great power there must also come great responsibility" that caused him to use his newfound abilities for crime fighting under the alias of Spider-Man, in which he would take on super-villains and save lives.

During his life as a superhero, Peter sold pictures of Spider-Man at the Daily Bugle to make ends meet, as well as start a relationship with Mary Jane Watson. When Thanos had wiped out half of the population with the Infinity Gems, Spider-Man joined the heroes and villains of Earth to stop the Mad Titan, an effort the yielded success. However, this was far from the last time the wallcrawler would get involved in bigger events.

Spider-Man would be forced to respond to the return of Apocalypse, and then fight alongside heroes from the Capcom Universe in response to Onslaught. Later, the sky pirate known as Ruby Heart would enlist Parker as well as several others from Marvel and Capcom's worlds to aid in the battle against Abyss. After successfully taking down the mysterious threat, he seemingly became friends with Morrigan Aensland and Sakura Kasugano, taking pictures with the two. Spider-Man would go on to take part in the defeat of Galactus, and join The Resistance against Ultron-Sigma when the latter threatened the merged worlds of Marvel and Capcom.

Was a member of the Task Force that went on to fight against and defeat Thanos, who is described as an alien with sheer power that dwarfs Galactus.[4][14] Could aid in the battle against Galactus and was even capable of defeating him.[1][2] Viewed as a rival among the likes of Cyclops and Cyber-Akuma by Ryu.[5] Alongside Morrigan Aensland, defeated a mind-controlled Thor, who the combined efforts of Hawkeye and Arthur were incapable of stopping,[3] the former of which was capable of defeating Galactus.[2] Considers Viewtiful Joe to be highly incompetent[1][2][Statistics Values 1]), higher with X-Factor

Stamina: Superhuman

Range: Standard Melee Range; Hundreds of Meters with webbing; Low Multiversal with the Space Gem and Reality Gem (The Space Gem and Reality Gem had the ability to fuse the Marvel Universe, the Dark Dimension, the Capcom Universe, and the Makai Kingdom together[3])

Standard Equipment:

  • Web-Shooters: Devices created by Spider-Man which attach to his wrists, allowing him to utilize his webbing. Its versatility allows for a faster means of travel through web swinging as well as a multitude of combative applications, such as restraining opponents, swinging around targets, or propelling Spider-Man into a dive kick.
  • Web Fluid: Custom made fluid thats used in Spider-Man's Web-Shooters. The strength of this webbing allows it to be used reliably in a number of situations.
  • Spider-Signal: A light that Spider-Man keeps on his belt, which projects his logo.
  • Camera: Used to take pictures for the Daily Bugle.

Intelligence:

Genius (Created his own Web-Shooters[15] and the web fluid it uses.[3] Spider-Man's high adaptability in tense situations was seen as valuable in the war against Ultron-Sigma.[3] Reed Richards, a genius who can create dimension crossing machines[2] and is stated to be the leading scientific mind in the United States, claimed Spider-Man had "considerable talents" to lend to the strike team composed to defeat Thanos[14])

Genius (Spider-Man is considered to be a rival in the eyes of Ryu,[5] an incredibly skilled martial artist who Super-Skrull claims is the pinnacle of human perfection, easily surpassing the combative prowess of Taskmaster.[2] Could defeat Apocalypse alongside an ally,[5] the former of which is a nearly five thousand year old Mutant that has seen ample combat through living by his "survival of the fittest" ideology[8])

Weaknesses: The Black Suit's influence takes total control when bonded with Peter, acting very much unlike him to the point of aggressively attacking his allies the moment the suit is on.[3] The Symbiote itself is weak to sound, meaning high enough frequencies like church bells and alarms cause it to flee.[3] Spider-Man can only wield one Infinity Gem and equip up to three card effects at a time.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Straight Arrow: Spider-Man performs a straight punch while dashing towards the opponent.
  • Hidden Kick: Spider-Man crouches down and does a slightly upwards kick with his left foot.
  • Flying Roundhouse: While jumping in the air, Spider-Man performs an aerial roundhouse kick with his right leg.
  • Wall Jump: Spider-Man can jump off of a wall after leaping against it.
  • Air Dash: Spider-Man quickly swings forward in an arc from a ceiling by shooting web, though he can only propel himself in that direction.

  • Ground Throw: Spider-Man picks up the opponent and then chucks them either forwards or backwards a short distance away.
  • Aerial Throw: Similar to his ground throw, except that Spider-Man tosses them diagonally downwards onto the ground either in-front of or behind him while in the air.

  • Web Ball: Spider-Man shoots a small web projectile that flies forward. When hit, an opponent is trapped inside a large web cocoon for a while, even slowly falling toward the ground when they're hit mid-air. A projectile's speed depends on the attack strength. While in the air, he fires a Web Ball diagonally downwards.
  • Spider Sting: Spider-Man performs a spinning uppercut while leaping into the air. He can follow up this move with a Spider Bite, where he will slam an opponent back onto the ground with a downwards punch.
  • Web Swing: Spider-Man shoots a string of web upwards into the air and then swings towards the opponent, kicking them on his way. Can also be done in the air.
  • Web Throw: Spider-Man shoots out a string of web at a long range to catch an opponent, before swinging them around over his head and then throwing them away. Depending on attack strength, he can shoot the web either straight forward, diagonally upwards or directly above him.
  • Web Glide: Spider-Man shoots a long string of web, which travels across the screen until it makes contact with an opponent or a wall, and then pulls himself to that direction. He can aim and shoot at an up-forward, up-backwards and straight-upwards or down-forward angle while on the ground/air respectively. Can also be done in the air.
  • Spider Cannon: Spider-Man bends backwards and then performs a flying dropkick, launching the opponent far back to the wall.

  • Maximum Spider: Spider-Man leaps backwards and then does a diving kick, jumping from wall to wall while performing flying punches and kicks on his opponent, resulting in a five-hit aerial juggling combo. In Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Infinite, after hitting an opponent, Spider-Man will entangle them in a series of webs while performing several flying kicks through them, before finishing with a powerful stomp that sends them crashing down onto the ground. Can also be done in the air.
  • Crawler Assault: Spider-Man dashes forward and unleashes a flurry of punches and flip kicks, before finishing with a final kick that sends the opponent flying away and causes them to bounce off of a wall.
  • Ultimate Web Throw: Spider-Man leaps backward into the air and then fires a giant triangular web diagonally downwards. If the web connects, he will ensnare an opponent and swing them around in an overhead circle several times before slamming them into the ground.
  • Watch Out, Spidey: Spider-Man's Level 3 Hyper Combo in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, in which he starts with a jumping handstand kick. He then shoots a web line at the opponent, punching them twice as his Spider-Sense suddenly warns him of pumpkin bombs that fly out of nowhere (presumably thrown by the Green Goblin off-screen) and dodging them. Spider-Man then quickly catches every bomb with web and hurls them at the opponent, blowing them up.

Watch Out, Spidey

  • Power Gem: Spider-Man can use the Power Gem to increase his attack damage for a short period of time, and in Marvel Super Heroes, create a mirrored mimic/duplicate of himself that attacks from the other side, operating similarly to Morrigan's Astral Vision. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants him a powerful attack with increased pushback force.
  • Time Gem: Spider-Man can use the Time Gem to increase his movement speed for a brief time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows him to move a set distance forward or backwards in the form of an instant dash that goes through the opponent and their attacks.
  • Reality Gem: Spider-Man can use the Reality Gem to create three different elemental projectiles across the screen; electric spheres, icicles and fire orbs. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version will make him launch a slow, homing energy burst with each use.
  • Space Gem: Spider-Man can use the Space Gem to increase his defense for a period of time, which reduces damage taken from his opponent's attacks. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows him to push the opponent forward or backwards, and the Infinity Storm version seals them in a large, square force cage which restricts their movement for a while.
  • Mind Gem: Spider-Man can use the Mind Gem to constantly refill his Hyper Combo gauge for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version provides him with a special throw attack which instantly stuns an opponent if hit.
  • Soul Gem: Spider-Man can use the Soul Gem to increase/fill his health for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants him a far-reaching energy attack which absorbs the health off the opponent upon hit.
