Inspired, the Archie Sonic Comics are based on Sega's video game franchise of the same name. The Comics takes the video game characters, who's world were not made clear for an ongoing story, and explore their unknown character in ways the source material couldn’t.
The comic's main focus is the adventure stories of the title character, the world-famous hero Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic loves adventure and chili dogs and he is always willing to fight to protect the ones he cares about from any threat. Sonic is in some ways different from his game counterpart - in the comics, he is displayed as having a ratheIr strong sense of humor, as well as important familial ties with his family and friends; characteristics absent from most other incarnations. He is shown engaging in romantic relationships, while in the games, he is uninterested in romance. He is also portrayed as having a deeper sense of duty - in the games Sonic treats his ongoing conflict with Eggman as just an opportunity to have a fun time, whereas in the comic series he understands it as a responsibility to protect his world from a terrible menace, although he does seem to have fun when fighting Eggman.
Archie Sonic comics has stories that surround other characters from the games such as Knuckles the Echidna and Shadow the Hedgehog, the former having a much bigger background and latter having many of his own adventures.
However, this no longer factored into the verse as of the Worlds Collide event. The Multiverse suffered from the destruction caused by the Super Genesis Wave, it resetting the cosmology and introducing more game elements as well as re-purposing AoSTH characters. The Freedom Fighters, luckily, survived.
Note:
While the Pre-Super Genesis Wave's setting focused heavily on Sonic SATAM's setting, Archie started releasing mini-series issues of the cast almost a year before SATAM started airing, making Sally and the other Freedom Fighters predating the show as Comic Book Characters.
Within the Pre-Super Genesis Wave reality, the Archie Sonic verse has a multi-layered cosmology with several layers of existence within it. In terms of strength, the Base cast sits at Low Multiverse level, possibly higher (2-C, possibly higher) in their stats with Infinite speed. Certain characters are also capable of controlling a power called "Chaos Energy"; a cosmic source of conceptual energy that serves as a tool for warping reality on a whim. Ripping atoms from the body, changing reality, and distorting space-time. Above the Base cast range Super Forms, Chaos Force deities, and those comparable, who wield Complex Multiverse level (7-D) power and Immeasurable speed.
Even the average Mobian has a natural Resistance to Extreme Cold, Cosmic Radiations, Toxins and Chemical Products from scalingto theFreedomFighters,[1][2][3] who are all written as regular Mobians (biologically) without special enhancements, yet being able to survive with radiations in space, being unbothered by being incased in ice blocks and being unbothered by conditions in various toxic wastelands and Chemical Plant, which has similar properties to its game counterpart.
(Note: The verse does not scale to the Destructix the same way as the Freedom Fighters. While they did resist the Egg Grapes[4] without Mogul's protection, the Echidnas are implied to have become empty husks and Charmy Bee became brain damaged in mere seconds.)
By the Worlds Collide Arc, the continuity has been rebooted; all characters and elements tied to Ken Penders have been taken out of the comic, the Chaos Force is gone, and the history of the universe follows the game continuity up to a certain point far more closely.
The verse is now more tame in terms of power compared to it's counterpart. The Base cast ranging from Multi-Continent level+ (16.7 Exatons, High 6-A+) to Moon level (167 Exatons) through stronger characters and certain amps with FTL speed. Super Forms still retain a comparable amount of power to before the Super Genesis Wave.

Ian Flynn:
During the transition between Pre-/Post- Continuities, fans had a lot of questions over the tragedy caused by Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily's Super Genesis Wave and Super Sonic's Chaos Control. Ian Flynn, the writer in-charge of the SGW incident, held an online Q&A, discussing the multiversal collapse and what it meant moving forward(Post-Super Genesis Wave), answering his likes and dislikes(Opinions), etc.
The Web Archive containing the Q&A, can be located: here.
Note: This Fandom follows the story existing within the comics as the primary canon, as per the Wiki's Canon standards. The Encyclopedia is secondary to the Comics. Word of God(s, as the comic had multiple head writers) is taken into consideration but statements ultimately falls behind the comics and the Encyclopedia. Story elements or statements by the Encyclopedia and WoG will only be recorded if it doesn't contradict the Primary Canon.
