Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Chakra Manipulation
- Statistics Amplification (Shinobi are capable of enhancing their physical capabilities with the use of chakra. The Shunshin no Jutsu allows Shinobi to greatly enhance their speed by focusing chakra in their feet[2][3][4])
- Surface Scaling and Water Walking (By focusing chakra at the soles of their feet, Shinobi can scale and cling to vertical surfaces, and even walk on water[5][6])
- Afterimage Creation, Stealth Mastery, and Speed Enhancement (The Substitution Jutsu allows its user to instantly replace themselves with a nearby object such as a tree log, plant, person, or clone at the exact moment they are attacked. The Jutsu works even if the user is physically restrained or observed by characters as observant as Sharingan or Sage Mode users. This creates the optical illusion of the user being hit, which confuses the opponent and gives them an opening to flee or counterattack.[7][8][9][10][11])
- Minor Illusion Creation and Duplication (With the Clone Technique[12], Shinobi can create illusionary duplicates of themselves that have no physical substance. He can also create Shadow[13] and Crow[10] Clones, which are identical clones that can aid him in combat, use his techniques, telepathically relay information back to him when they're destroyed, and act as distractions, among other things)
- Shapeshifting (With the Transformation Technique[12], Shinobi can transform themselves into other people, animals, plants, and even inanimate objects, such as weapons)
- Paralysis Inducement (With the Temporary Paralysis Technique[14], Shinobi can completely paralyze their targets from close to mid range)
- Martial Arts (All Shinobi are trained to be highly proficient in Taijutsu[15])
- Pressure Points Strikes (Shinobi are taught a technique that allows them to painlessly knock people out with a simple neck chop in the Academy[16])
- Weapon Mastery (All Shinobi are taught and trained to master Shuriken, Kunai, and many other ninja weapons in the Academy[17][18][15])
- Stealth Mastery (The basis for all Shinobi skills is to "become invisible and eradicate yourself", in order to analyze your opponent and catch them off-guard.[15])
- Smoke Manipulation (With the use of smoke bombs, which are a standard part of a Shinobi's basic toolkit[19])
- Explosion Manipulation (Explosive tags, also known as letter bombs, are a standard part[20][21] of a Shinobi's basic toolkit[19])
- Light Manipulation (Flash bombs are a standard part of a Shinobi's arsenal.[21][22])
- Genjutsu Nullification (Shinobi can typically break free from and nullify non-ocular genjutsu by intentionally disrupting the flow of chakra[23] within their bodies)
- Animal Manipulation (Shino can communicate with and command multiple insects in exchange for using his body as a nest and consuming his chakra[24]. The bugs on Shino's body can be used for different purposes, such as attacking[25], immobilizing[26][27], weakening the victim by absorbing chakra[28], creating replicas of himself[29], and also spying and gathering information)
- Enhanced Senses (Enhanced Hearing - Can correctly estimate how many people are in an area by placing his ear to the ground[31])
- Small Size (Type 2. Kikaichū are small insects[32])
- Flight (Kikaichū can fly[32])
- Chakra Sensing (Kikaichū can sense chakra, an ability they use to track their target[33]
- Chakra Absorption (The Kikaichū have the ability to devour their prey's chakra through physical contact[28])
- Enhanced Senses (Male Kikaichū detect the scent of female Kikaichū, which can be used to track targets by marking them with a female scent that will be detected by male Kikaichū[34][35])
- Homing Attack and Danmaku (As per their host's commands, the Kikaichū can pursue their prey and attack in swarms in order to overwhelm them due to sheer numbers[36])
- Adaptation (Kikaichū have the ability to adapt over time to environments that were previously harmful to them[37][38])
- Enhanced Animal Manipulation (Shino has access to a special new breed of insects called Kidaichū[39])
- Earth Manipulation and Fire Manipulation (By the Fourth Shinobi World War, Shino possessed Earth and Fire Releases[40])
Same as before
- Small Size (Type 2. Kidaichū are normally small insects[39])
- Chakra Absorption and Size Manipulation (The Kidaichū can absorb chakra and rapidly grow in size based on how much they absorb[39])
- Limited Durability Negation (With Parasitic Giant Insect — Bug Bite, Shino can place a number of Kidaichū into an enemy's skin, which quickly burrow into the victim's body and devour its flesh and chakra, rapidly growing in size until the host body is completely eaten away from the inside out[39])
- Chakra Projection and Enhanced Animal Manipulation (Can release a small web of chakra that draws bug to the surface that he touches with his palm of fingers[41])

Intelligence: Gifted (Shino has shown himself to be quite intelligent, being able to use his analytical and observational skills to make shrewd decisions with pinpoint reasoning. Shino prevails in battles by systematically staying several steps ahead of the enemy, as well as keeping a good distance away to avoid his enemies' attacks.[46][47] Shino can also tell the number of people in an area by putting his ear to the ground[31]. Since becoming an Academy teacher, Shino has become well-versed in the various basic attack patterns and battle methods of shinobi combat, able to easily anticipate most tactics his opponents launch on him[38])
Weaknesses: The Kikaichū were initially not adapted to underwater environments, hindering their use in water (However, Shino was able to overcome this weakness in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations by employing Kikaichū that had adapted to these environments[37][38])
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Parasitic Destruction Insect Technique: Shortly after a member of the Aburame clan is born, thousands of insects are allowed to colonise his or her body. In exchange for getting to feed off of their host's chakra, the insects follow the host's every command: from attack to defence to reconnaissance, and everything in between. The insects inevitably become the core ability of the Aburame's entire fighting style, upon which all of their other jutsu rely. This technique, alternatively translated as "Kikaichū Technique", is named after the kikaichū, the species of insects that Aburame are most commonly colonised by. But they are not the only option: Torune uses rinkaichū and Yōji used kochū. Aburame are not even restricted to a single species: Shino uses both kikaichū and kidaichū; Muta uses kikaichū and shōkaichū.
- Insect Jamming Technique: The user has a large amount of their kikaichū spread out over a wide area around themselves, having them emit a small amount of the chakra they usually feed on to confuse sensor-type shinobi. As the insects' irregular distribution and grouping together result in the creation of numerous chakra signals, it makes it more difficult to distinguish the user's actual location.
- Insect Clone Technique: An Aburame has thousands of their kikaichū gather together until they've taken on the size and appearance of the Aburame, to be used either as a decoy or a diversion. The insect clone can be created anywhere that the kikaichū are positioned or sent to, making it more useful for certain tasks than a shadow clone. When the insect clone is struck, it disperses back into a swarm of kikaichū.
- Parasitic Giant Insect — Bug Bite: Following an Aburame clan member placing a number of kidaichū onto the skin of an enemy, these insects immediately burrow into the victim's body and begin to devour its flesh and chakra. This process causes the insects to grow rapidly in size, until the host body is completely eaten away from the inside out.
