Articles about Shadow (Shadow Fight)
Games Shadow Fight 2Shadow Fight 2 Underworld

Once, I was a great, invincible warrior and no one dared to stand in my way. I travelled the land, searching for a worthy battle. Until I discovered the Gates of Shadows. I broke the laws of the elders and opened the Gates. The demons of the other world were beyond them. They rushed upon me, tearing my flesh, draining my soul, turning me into a shadow. And now, for eternity, I am doomed to wander the world and fight the demons I freed!

Prepare to die, Descendant.
~ Shadow - Before the final battle

Shadow killed May with his own hands. And he blames me for that! If he would admit his fault and accept me, he'd become god-like. He could even bring May back to life!
~ Shadow Mind towards Descendant

The fault is mine. I couldn't save you. I involved you in this. I opened the Gates of Shadows. And now the world is gone. And you're gone, too. I'll save you, May. I'll bring you back, no matter what.
~ Shadow

If it's true, I won't stop. If there is at least one decent type who can win and stop this monster... I'll clear the path for him. I will fight here for a thousand years if needed. I'll fight till my spirit leaves me. But I'll give him a chance!
~ Shadow towards May regarding Descendant's clones, no longer rejecting Shadow Energy

Summary

Shadow is the eponymous protagonist of Shadow Fight 2 and a major character of Shadow Fight 3.

He was a powerful and arrogant warrior who foolishly opened the Gates of Shadows in his pursuit of a worthy battle, thus unleashing the Shadow Energy into the world, its emission being so great that it overpowered him and destroyed his flesh and soul, leaving him as nothing but a shadowy existence. He steadily grows in power with the help of his companions and would-be lover, May, to undo his mistake. In due course of time, he defeats all the unleashed Shadow Demons, along with their master, Titan, and manages to close the Gates of Shadows once and for all, regaining his mortal body and soul. Shortly after he marries May, and lives off a peaceful and calm life with her.

That was until May soon became pregnant and ill with a strange shadow disease called the Scourge. Her unborn child (simply named Shadow's Descendant) was carrying with him a sentient Shadow Energy being called the Shadow Mind, who was the source of May's sickness. The moment Shadow realized this he began recklessly trying to eliminate the Shadow Mind in hopes of saving May, but in the end he accidentally killed her and the baby, with Shadow Mind being the only survivor. Blaming his beloved's death on the shadow being, Shadow vowed to destroy it, but all he was able to do was to imprison it in the Sphere, as Shadow Mind proved to be indestructible to him. As he was searching for ways to kill Shadow Mind he stumbled across time travel and a potential way to bring May back to life by destroying and remaking reality in his image. Eventually his plan comes to fruition and the world is obliterated, along with him.

His story mainly resumes in another timeline (Itu's Plane) in which another version of him initially starts out with the same objective of destroying and creating a world in which May is alive and well, but later on is convinced by May herself (who turned out to still be alive, albeit in an incorporeal state) to abandon this wish, as what would truly bring her peace is for him to help Descendant's clones and Shadow Mind to defeat the original Descendant, who was saved from death by May all those years ago but turned out to want nothing but to bring suffering to the world, possibly because of his traumatic past. Shadow makes peace with Shadow Mind and Shadow Energy and now willingly uses this power in combat and doesn't reject it anymore.

They will also eventually be turned into mindless shadow beasts), Mind Manipulation (Scourged enemies generally act weird and if they cannot hold control over the disease they will start to attack everybody near them, including allies. They can also start to act like savages and beasts by getting intoxicated from all the Shadow Energy that is inserted into their bodies), Power Bestowal, Statistics Amplification and Corruption (Scourged enemies gain new, stronger shadow powers and great strength if they are able to resist dying from the disease, and Shadow Energy users have thier souls turned into unholy shadow souls), Empowerment via Empathic Manipulation and/or Madness Manipulation (Scourged enemies who gain shadow powers can have their minds manipulated by shadows whenever they lose their temper, strongly boosting their shadow powers and gaining new ones, at the cost of also having their negative emotions/traits amplified or them going crazy)

  • Superhuman Physical Characteristics
  • Accelerated Development (Battle; Intelligence - Shadow is capable of learning fast an opponent's fighting tactics if they are repeated too much and thus gets better at defending himself against them and countering them)
  • Acrobatics (His usage of Dynasty's martial arts heavily involves acrobatic moves)
  • Cosmic Awareness (Shadow sees through time and space, but doesn't know it. As a human, even if he doesn't realize it, he can remember events from all timelines that his counterparts took part in. As such, like other people, he is able to faintly remember individuals he has never met before due to his other selves from other timelines having met said people in his stead)
  • Dark Chi Manipulation (Shadow can harness his internal Shadow Energy granted by Shadow Mind as a weapon. Shadow may only emit inner Shadow Energy by being a shadow himself. While being a shadow, Shadow can interact with beings originating from the metaphysical "shadow world", who cannot be harmed by humans due to them following different laws of physics)
  • Dark Magic (Shadow Energy is magical and mystical in nature, and the Darkness that rivals Light, and thus Shadow can break and defy the laws of physics when using it to perform enhanced movements and other acrobatics (Shadow Abilities). As with every Shadow Energy user, Shadow's soul is corrupted into an unholy "shadow soul" due to his exposure to this power. Shadow Energy beings and weapons upgraded with it are usually considered demonic)
  • Elemental and Immaterial Intangibility with Incorporeality via Transformation (Shadow can consume his endless internal Shadow Energy to turn into a shadow for an unlimited amount of time, during which his body is turned into a capsule made of pure, undiluted Shadow Energy essence, and thus he lacks a physical body)
  • Energy Blast (Splitting any Shadow Energy particle of his body grants a blast of energy)
  • Enhanced Vision (While being a shadow, Shadow can see mirages which are otherwise invisible to the common man)
  • Fate Manipulation (via Historical Importance Index)
  • Immortality (Types 1, 5 - While being a shadow, Shadow can live for eternity and can't die no matter how much he is harmed; Shadow is an eternal shadow - a soul so big that time itself cannot consume him completely)
  • Non-Physical Interaction (Can harm incorporeal beings and physically interact with intangible shadows)
  • Martial Arts (Is an adept of the Legion, Dynasty and Heralds' martial arts, which are inspired by western boxing and wrestling, and chinese and japanese martial arts respectively)
  • Mind Manipulation (Shadow can split a person's being in two, and one half of said person's mind will be separated from their body)
  • Perception Manipulation (While being a shadow, Shadow can view the metaphysical "shadow world" dimension, which is the darkest and most foul side of the world)
  • Preparation (Thechnological Preparation - Given enough time, he is able to gather allies that can build and research the Accelerator Core Tower for him)
  • Limited Sealing (Imprisoned Shadow Mind in the Sphere, although it is unknown how he would use this ability against enemies who do not exist as pure energy)
  • Statistics Amplification (With Shadow Energy's help, Shadow can become faster with more stamina, and while being a shadow his attack power also increases)
  • Supernatural Willpower (Constantly uses his willpower to resist attempts at subjugating his mind; and has the willpower to resist the urge to fight using Shadow Energy)
  • Weapon Mastery

Energy Manipulation (The Accelerator Tower can split every single Shadow Energy particle in the world, causing multiple blasts of energy to occur), Pocket Reality Manipulation with Reality Warping and Space-Time Manipulation (The Core of the Accelerator Tower is a separate dimension located between the worlds called Bridge-Between, and the one who is inside of the Core has the absolute ability to form the space and time of the world outside of the Core, being able to essentially recreate it from scratch)

Attack Potency: Building level+ (Defeated Titan and overcame Ancient in combat, who are both immensely stronger than Shogun). Can ignore conventional durability with Poisoning, Bleeding, Time Bomb and Cobra | Building level+ (Same as before). Planet level, at most Universe level+ with the Accelerator Core Tower (Splitting a single shadow particle grants a blast of energy. With the Accelerator tower, Shadow can accelerate and split all the shadow particles on Earth, and thus the blast becomes so big it obliterates the world, leaving nothing behind but Shadow Energy. Shadow may activate the Accelerator by putting Shadow Mind into its Core. The Accelerator's Core is an infinite pocket dimension located between the worlds, a place called Bridge-Between. The Accelerator is like a hundred Void Rooms turned inside out, meaning that whoever is inside the Core pocket dimension can recreate the world outside by forming its space and time) and Historical Importance Index (He is able to change the fate of the world to his wish so that it always gets destroyed and potentially recreated no matter what happens). Can ignore conventional durability with Cobra | Building level+ (Same as before). Planet level, at most Universe level+ with the Accelerator Core Tower and Historical Importance Index. Can ignore conventional durability with Cobra and Fragile Opponent.

Durability: Building level+ (Could take hits from Titan and Ancient) | Building level+ | Building level+

Stamina: Infinite (Although he can get exhausted from taking hits during battle, he quickly gets back up and fights again endlessly without needing to rest) | Peak Human (Comparable to The Descendant. As long as he can permanently keep his Protective Concentration active at all times, he never gets physically wounded and thus he cannot get tired. Most fighters can enter Shadow Form for a limited period of time, boosting their stamina for the duration, and Shadow can enter Shadow Form permanently) | Infinite (Exists as a spirit, and thus he can never get tired even while fighting Descendant's clones without rest for a thousand, possibly two thousand years)

Standard Melee Range, up to 5-18 Kilometers with Magic | Standard Melee Range with punches, kicks and Dark Cogs. Extended Melee Range with Desolator, Gilded Staff and Blood Reaper. Summoned Equipment: Nothing | Desolator, Gilded Staff, Dark Cogs, Blood Reaper | Desolator, Gilded Staff, Dark Cogs, Blood Reaper

Intelligence: Average normally, Combat Genius. (Even before becoming a shadow, he was considered a great, invincible warrior for the sheer fact that everybody in the land he came across was unable to grant him a worthy battle. Having completed his training as Sensei's disciple, he has surpassed his mentor in the art of fighting by knowing all fighting tricks possible in the form of Perks, and beating all Shadow Demons with ease, who are all considered to be the best fighters in the land after him and Sensei. Shadow is able to perfectly wield any kind of new weapon he comes across on his first try using it, and showed no issue in this regard even when he was introduced to the gear of the Shadow World, which are weapons that are extremely advanced in comparison to the medieval, Earth ones he is familiar with. He has also achieved many titles related to combat mastery due to the multitude of fighting competitions he's won. In the Shadow World he has successfully defeated opponents who share a similar role to his - that of being the best warriors in their respective worlds. His ultimate combat prowess feat is the one in which he defeated in combat Ancient, who instructed most of the warriors previously mentioned in the art of fighting, and Titan, who has defeated innumerable amounts of warriors who were the best fighters in their worlds. In spite of all this, Shadow is prone to make bad decisions anywhere outside of combat as seen when he foolishly opened the Gates of Shadows - despite the laws of his elders warning him to not do so -, thinking he could take on whatever was hidden beyond the Gates with his strength and skill alone, condemning himself and the rest of Earth to eternal suffering. This is why for the rest of the events of Shadow Fight 2 he only follows his companions around and their advice on what he should do, and never thinks for himself)

Weaknesses: The opponents that he fights against in the darkest and most foul side of the world are stronger, tougher and faster than their real world selves due to them being the people's most ferocious sides. Like most other people, Shadow is not aware of the Historical Importance Index's existence and thus he does not know that he can change the fate of the world, possibly limiting the full potential of this power. Shadow cannot generate Shadow Energy by himself in worlds in which Shadow Energy does not exist. Fire supposedly cleanses places hosting the Scourge contamination.

Historical Importance Index is a mechanism in the Shadow Fight world which allows all people to change the course of world history processes with their wishes, thus being able to influence the world timeline and change the face of the world based on their personality. Because everybody has access to this power, more often than not their wishes will intercept and clash with each other over which one gets to become reality. The winner whose wish will triumph over the one of his adversary is the one who is simply more important to the world than the other. This is why people who are very important will change the fate of the world with their wishes so suddenly they won't even know how they succeeded so easily, because they don't even have to try much, while those who are less important than the previously mentioned won't be able to change the world with their wishes even if they try harder than the more important people to make them reality, their wishes getting completely overwritten by those of the more important individuals. Stranger explains how the index of importance works using a simple example. One's historical importance index is as high as how many other lives they impacted, and how dramatically. The higher the index of historical importance of a person is, the more "luck" they get in all their plans, the more of their wishes will come true.

Shadow's historical importance index initially was the highest in the world, becoming second to his Descendant's at the end of "Transformation: Itu's Plane" storyline. This is because he was the one who put the world in peril by opening the Gates of Shadows, essentially affecting the lives of every single person on Earth in a major way. Adding to this, he was also the one who defeated Titan and thus liberated innumerable planes of existence from the conqueror's tyrannical rule. To better grasp this amount in numbers, Shadow's Descendant required half a billion copies of himself spread across half a billion worlds to cause as much influence as possible to finally surpass Shadow's importance index. Shadow's will is always fulfilled, no matter what's against it, and as if it isn't already supernaturally stronger than everybody else's, when he was the most important person in the world, the world itself bowed to his will, and died as he wished. Even without the Accelerator - the weapon he would use to destroy the world - he was already considered a tough guy. But with the Accelerator he became invincible, as nobody could change anything, not even in the past, to stop the end of the world, as it's not the world, it's Shadow who must change his desire so that the world wouldn't die. Shadow's importance index was so high that even when Descendant defeated him physically, everything turned out the way he wanted. There is one obvious loophole to this though. They say, Shadow is a tsunami. One can't possibly stop him. He's a human, but one of a kind. The Void Room knew that there was no way it could physically restrict him from doing what he did. But it could lie to him, as he isn't very smart. As such, it locked him within a dream cage in which the world was as he wanted it to be, thus pacifying him and removing his need to destroy the world. The Void Room convinced him that the Sphere was non-existent, and thus he never managed to escape the Void Room because he never had a reason to, but if he knew that the Sphere still existed he would've wished to get out of the Void Room and exit to the outside world, and would've done it one way or another even if the Void Room would be against him, as he would change the fate of the world to escape it. After becoming the second to his Descendant in historical importance near the end of "Transformation: Itu's Plane", Shadow changed his ways radically: now he wishes the world and May to live, and to help the few of his Descendant's copies who are actual good and decent people unlike the real Descendant, who wants nothing good for the world but to bring life to an end. He's now living as an immortal spirit after he died with the world due to his initial wish, and is defeating the evil copies of his Descendant so that his index of importance grows while Descendant's index decreases, so that he can temporarily become the most important person in the world again and enforce his good will upon it. This works, as eventually by Shadow's will Shadow Mind changes its view on humanity and no longer wishes to destroy the world of Itu's Plane, and later on recreates the world of the Main Plane, in which now May is alive.
