Powers and Abilities:
Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Martial Arts (Samus is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, capable of overwhelming and disarming multiple armed opponents[1], easily defeating comparable foes[2] and incorporating acrobatic hand-to-hand combat and grappling in her fighting style[3]. While in her suit Samus can perform Melee Counters, quick parries that stun the attacking foe for a few seconds[4], while crouching, in Morph Ball form and in the air[5]), Weapon Mastery and Vehicular Mastery (Even early in her career, Samus is a masterful combatant in her suit, already thought to be the greatest bounty hunter in the universe by the time of Zero Mission's events[6][7]. Won an infamous inter-planetary spaceship race through the hardest course in the galaxy, against some of the galaxy's most skilled pilots, despite all of them being out to kill her, her ship being sabotaged and the top competitor being armed with her Speed Booster[8]. Hijacked and learned how to pilot a Space Pirate ship in seconds[9]), Acrobatics (Capable of performing incredible acrobatics in and out of the suit, pulling off quick dodges, repeating somersaults[10], wall-jumps[11] and bouncing off several creatures without even making contact with the ground[12]), Stealth Mastery (Infiltrated into a Space Pirate Mothership and crossed the entirety of it despite being essentially defenseless, using stealth as her primary means of survival[11]), Supernatural Willpower and Weapon Creation (Samus is capable of summoning the Power Suit around herself[11] and maintaining it stable through a level of sheer willpower unfathomable to a normal person[13]. She can even just summon single parts of it like her arm cannon[14]. After enduring the process of having her powers ripped out of her body, which she described as nearly making her faint and leaving her barely able to crawl, Samus managed to gather enough energy for a single deadly attack out of her sheer willpower[15]. Similarly, she could gather the power to fight through sheer will after enduring through acid powerful enough to seriously damage her suit, leaving her barely able to move[16]), Adaptation (The primary consequence of Samus' transfusion with Chozo DNA was to grant her an increased adaptability to her surroundings[12]), Accelerated Development (Learned the wall jump and Shinespark techniques[17] from creatures on Zebes[18] just by watching them perform them), Paralysis Inducement (When out of her Power Suit, Samus has wielded a Paralyzer, a weak recharging emergency firearm that briefly paralyzes foes[11]), limited Telepathy and Clairvoyance (Capable of sensing Grey Voice's pain and the fact that he was locked in battle with Ridley, though only because of their special bond[19]. Had a dream of Dark Samus' past actions, that she could otherwise not know of[20]), minor Afterimage Creation (Even without her Power Suit Samus moves fast enough to cast minor afterimages[11])
Resistance to Acid Manipulation (Stated that only her allies would be affected by the acid rain of Crateria[21]), Analytical Prediction and Information Analysis (Gray Voice theorized that Mother Brain was completely unable of predicting Samus' actions despite her capacity to do so for most[19]. Space Pirate testing indicated their troops would have a high chance of prevailing against Samus[22], despite her later being capable of defeating many of them in practice. Could reach a level of power that allowed her to one-shot a foe designed to best her based on extensive research of her combat data[23], which proved to not be indicative of her real power[15]), Madness Manipulation (Unaffected by proximity to Hunter Metroids, which can induce psychotic breakdowns in nearby individuals[24]), Corruption and Mind Manipulation (After being infected with Phazon[25] by Dark Samus [who is capable of immediately taking over the minds[26] of most creatures[27]] like Rundas, Gandrayda and Ghor, who all eventually fell victim to said infection[28] and became Dark Samus' puppets, Samus managed to keep her own will, despite eventually being forced to absorb[29] far more[30] Phazon[31] than any of[32] the other three ever did and being visibly affected by it, though at the risk of falling victim to it whenever she failed to control her Hypermode[33][7]), Absorption (The X Parasite required hours or even days to take over Samus' body[34], whereas it can normally absorb and copy its victims in seconds[35])
All previous abilities, Marksmanship (Samus' suits enhance her aiming capabilities with a targeting system[36], though she is capable of manually surpassing their level of accuracy when needed[19]. Shot down two ricocheting bullets out of the air at once to prevent them from hitting civilians, from outside of the building, through a saloon door[37]. Even as a teenager, Samus' aim was good enough to rapid-fire disarm an entire group of hostiles without harming a single one of them[12]. Shot a large gear she flipped into the air, causing it to be launched precisely onto a mechanism and locking it in place[38]. Blasted a foe's whipping tongue out of the air[39]), Energy Projection (Samus' primary method of attack is to fire beams out of her suit's arm cannon), enhanced Acrobatics (Samus' Power Suit enhances her natural acrobatic abilities[40]. Climbed up Kraid's body on two separate occasions, using her own Power Bomb to boost herself up in the first and avoiding several attacks in the second[41][42]. Can use the boosters on her back to change her momentum in midair[43]. Dodged through a rain of a thousand attacks[44], Swiftly dodged over the attack of a foe behind her without looking[41]. Incorporates acrobatic hand-to-hand combat and grappling in her fighting style[3] and is overall capable of repeating somersaults[45], upwards kicks while sliding[5], wall-jumps and dashing slides even on slanted ground[46]. Shown using the jets on her back to halt[47] or enhance her momentum when necessary), Damage Reduction and Forcefield Creation (Samus' suit uses an energy-based shielding system[48] powered by her Energy Tanks[49] to absorb most of the energy from attacks inflicted on Samus, with the various upgrades increasing the potency of the ability[50]. Note that each time the shields take damage, some of their energy is consumed, effectively acting as a health bar), limited Weapon Control (Shown to be able to guide her power beam's trajectory somewhat[12]), Limited Attack Reflection (Samus' Power Beam is capable of reflecting certain kinds of energy attacks, despite them being much more powerful than it[51]. Deflected several Space Pirate energy attacks at once with her suit[52]), Status Effect Inducement (If Samus successfully parries her foes' attacks with a Melee Counter, she can stun them for a few seconds[4], even just by only making contact with a limb or appendage[53]), Non-Standard Breathing (Type 3. Samus' Power Suit allows her to breathe both underwater and in space[54]), Transformation (Samus' Morph Ball[5] allows her to reduce herself into an orb less than one meter wide[55], which she can control freely, and somehow see out of), Explosion Manipulation (Samus is equipped with powerful Missiles, and can infinitely produce bombs in Morph Ball form), Temperature Manipulation (Samus' missiles release enough heat to visibly turn metal they impact red-hot[3], and even her power beam seemingly carbonizes foes and briefly heats up metal to such a degree on impact[5]), Homing Attack (Samus' regular Missiles are capable of[48] homing into foes that she has locked on to), Minor Vibration Manipulation (Some of Samus' weaponry, such as the Missiles and the Plasma Beam, have been shown to seemingly cause seismic activities before she obtains them[56]), Non-Physical Interaction (Samus' beams can destroy fireballs[57] and orbs of electricity[58], as well as stun the X[59], which are entirely immune to her missiles[34]. The Power Beam, in particular, is capable of harming Chozo Ghosts, who are fragments of the Chozo's will partially phased from existence[60]. Can attack and harm Covern enemies, which are spirits born of the souls of shipwrecked creatures[61][62]), Damage Boost and Energy Manipulation (The Charge Beam[48] allows Samus to greatly increase her next attack's power[5], inflicting damage to foes that would be completely immune to normal Power Beam blasts. It also enhances the power of any other type of beam Samus may be using, and allows her to strike directly with a Charge Attack by spin jumping into enemies while holding a full charge), Nanotechnology (Samus' missiles employ nanomachines in their design[63]), Regeneration (Samus' suit[15] is capable[64] of repairing damage it has suffered overtime[65], such as the destruction of its arm cannon[66]. Restored her modified PED Suit into its normal Varia Suit state within minutes of the destruction of Phaaze[67] and slowly regained its mechanical features between the events of Metroid Fusion and Dread[68]), Rage Power (When she is truly enraged, Samus' power can spike up greatly, up to at least 5 times her usual level, allowing her to one-shot foes that she could previously not harm or compete with[23]), Healing and Light Manipulation (With the Crystal Flash, Samus can heal herself fully by consuming some of her ammunition. Note that as this technique requires Super Missiles and Power Bombs to expend, she would likely be incapable of performing it in Metroid Prime Hunters and Metroid Prime 3[69]. Can also heal herself, replenishing her shields and ammunition, with Concentration[3]), Absorption (Instead of being corrupted or harmed, Samus' suit evolved when exposed to the Omega Pirate's Phazon, though she is normally hurt by it[70]. The Charge Beam has a minor tractor effect when charging, drawing pickups to Samus[56]. It's even capable of absorbing Phazon released by Dark Samus and using it to power up Samus' own attacks[71]. Samus' missiles have been said to work by absorbing chemicals from the air, though there are other contrasting explanations too), Enhanced Senses (Samus' suit has a built-in enemy radar and a sensor that assesses environmental threats[54], as well as a zoom function[72]. Stated to have an infrared scope within her suit, which allows her to see in the dark[62], and to enhance her vision[73]. Capable of sensing and reacting to sneak attacks from outside her vision, even when not suspecting the one it would come from the moment before[74][75][76]. Heard someone talking about her despite having flown off into space on her gunship[72]. Sensed a foe behind her[64]. Will react to the proximity of any threat no matter their relative position[5]. Can see without much trouble in extremely dark areas[77]), Information Analysis (Samus' suit is equipped with a Scan Visor, which is capable of, over a few seconds, scan objects, environments, individuals or creatures and gain a great amount of information on them[54], including architectural details[78], the status[79] or biological alterations[80] of the creature scanned or their time[81] and cause of death[82], how to best[83] combat them[84] or destroy objects[85], as well as what they may be immune to[86]. It has been shown to pull off incredible feats of analysis such as triangulating the origin of a toxin by examining it[87], determine the exact percentage of toxicity in a fluid[88], predict how long it will take to cause the extinction of a species[89], sense and analyze[84] energy signatures[90]. Samus' suit also automatically creates a 3d map of environments she is exploring[54], covering up to an entire planet's area[91] and highlighting the general location of hidden items. In Metroid Dread, this map is even capable of tracking EMMI enemies in real time and automatically identifying the boundaries and exits of the zones they patrol[5]), minor Hacking and Technology Manipulation (The Scan Visor is capable of[92] hacking through space pirate systems[93] and decrypt their encrypted data logs, as well as operate technology from a distance), Extrasensory Perception (Has a Geiger counter built into her suit, which warns her of nearby Phazon[56]. Utilized a Metroid Detector that allowed her to track the number, and if nearby, position, of all Metroids on SR388[4]), Automatic Translation (Samus' suit is outfitted with an Automatic Translator[94], which can translate text from languages in its database in seconds), minor Telekinesis (Has some form of tractor beam in her arm cannon that she uses to suck in defeated Metroids' DNA strands[4]), Aura (Shown to emanate energy around herself when preparing for a tough fight[95]), Space Survival (Samus' suit is unaffected[96] by the vacuum of space[45]), Damage Reduction and Resistance to Poison Manipulation (Samus' suit absorbs damage from attacks and protects her from foreign pollutants[97]), Resistance to Acid Manipulation (The Power Suit allowed Samus to endure through an ocean of concentrated sulfuric acid powerful enough to melt metal, though with damage[16], and offers some protection against the acid gas of Puffers, which is lethal to most creatures[98]), Electro-Magnetism Manipulation (Unaffected by a magnetic storm that fried the systems of all ships within it[99] and an electrical interference that was jamming other communication systems, but not hers[100]), Life Absorption (Can withstand attacks from Metroids, who drain their prey's life force, for far longer than most[6]), Extreme Temperatures (While Samus commonly needs further protection to venture into extremely hot areas, the Power Suit alone provides her with protection from the elements[101] and lets her endure exposure to the heat of superheated volcanic regions, though not without damage[5], while rendering her completely immune immune to flamethrowers capable of incinerating other creatures[12])
Note that despite being placed in the "Default" tabber, these abilities are not available to every Samus key.
Resistance to Phazon (Can withstand some exposure to Phazon, which quickly kills most creatures, and corrupts those who resist it), Extreme Temperatures (The Varia Suit protects Samus from extremely high temperatures[101], and extreme cold[59]. It can even withstand plasma attacks[102], the Magmaul, which fires concentrated magma that burns at temperatures in the thousands of degrees[103], and the Judicator, which shoots out plasma at near-absolute zero temperatures[104]), Acid Manipulation (The Varia Suit granted full protection from an ocean of concentrated sulfuric acid powerful enough to melt metal and deal serious damage to Samus in her Power Suit[16]. TheVaria Suit protects Samus from acid pools[101], and can withstand, though with damage, exposure to the Petrasyl's gas, which destroys most materials on contact[105]), Electricity Manipulation (Can survive being hit by the Volt Driver, a weapon that emits multi-terawatt, high voltage electricity[106]. Can, suffering relatively little damage, withstand electricity powerful enough to kill Draygon, a large creature comparable to her in power[107]), Life Absorption (Survived an attack from the baby Metroid for longer than other creatures could[108]. Can withstand attacks from Gorea's tentacles, which are capable of devouring the life force of those who go up against it[109] quickly enough to incapacitate powerful Hunters in mere moments[110]), Deconstruction (Can, though not without suffering damage, withstand exposure to a Hecathon's beam, which breaks apart creatures within it into particles[111]), Ice Manipulation (Can survive being flash-frozen by the EMMI's ice beam and rapidly break free, whereas other creatures are shown to be frozen solid to the insides, to then shatter upon being attacked[112])
All Default abilities, Ice Manipulation (The Ice Beam[56] freezes enemies solid with a single shot, opening them up to be shattered by a missile or a melee attack), Electricity Manipulation, limited Homing Attack and Phasing (The Wave Beam shoots purple electric bolts that lightly home into foes[56] and pass through walls and solid objects[4]), Non-Physical Interaction (The Wave Beam can harm beings made of pure electricity[113]), Paralysis Inducement (The Wave Beam is capable of briefly paralyzing Samus when she is hit by it[114], despite her having no such issue with other electric attacks[5]), Plasma Manipulation (The Plasma Beam[85] fires powerful streams of plasma[5] capable of setting enemies ablaze as well as piercing through them and striking multiple targets), Pseudo-Flight (The Space Jump[5] allows Samus to "double jump" in mid-air infinitely during a spin jump), Energy Manipulation and Electricity Negation (The Screw Attack[5] surrounds a somersaulting Samus with an aura of energy that shreds through foes and can pierce through electrical barriers and projectiles without suffering any harm[5]), Enhanced Senses (The Gravity Suit enhances Samus' visor so she can see through low-visibility underwater areas[56]), Temperature Manipulation (Power Bombs unleash a superheated shockwave capable of vaporizing humans[100]), Air Manipulation (Samus' Power Bombs cause a powerful vacuum after unleashing their explosion, sucking in the remainders of their destruction[5]), Extrasensory Perception and Information Analysis (The Scan Pulse allows Samus to scan the environment around her, highlighting breakable blocks and item upgrades), Electricity Manipulation and Forcefield Creation (Lightning Armor allows Samus to coat herself with an energy barrier that protects her from attacks, even ones coming in the form of swarms of minuscule foes, and extends the range of her Melee Counter), Statistics Amplification and Danmaku (The Beam Burst both enhances the power of Samus' beam and allows her to rapid-fire it at incredible speed), Time Manipulation and Free Movement (The Phase Drift allows Samus to slow down time around herself, letting her run across surfaces that would normally immediately crumble beneath her feet), Gravity Manipulation and Resistance to Gravity Manipulation (The Gravity Suit[5] allows Samus to manipulate her personal gravity, most commonly to travel through liquids without resistance, but also anchor herself to surfaces using its gravity abilities, in situations where she'd otherwise be swept off her feet[115]. It is also capable of negating the effect of gravity fields[3] that would otherwise slow down Samus' movements or force her to walk on ceilings[116]), Enhanced Resistance to Temperature Manipulation (The Gravity Suit protects Samus from extreme heat and extreme cold beyond what the even the Varia Suit could shield from[5])
All Default abilities, enhanced Energy Projection (Temporarily gained the extremely powerful Hyper Beam after the baby Metroid's death, which allowed her to easily defeat Mother Brain, who could previously defeat her with similar ease[117]), Ice Manipulation (The Ice Beam[56] freezes enemies solid with a single shot, opening them up to be shattered by a missile or a melee attack), Electricity Manipulation, limited Homing Attack and Phasing (The Wave Beam shoots purple electric bolts that lightly home into foes[56] and pass through walls and solid objects[4]), Non-Physical Interaction (The Wave Beam can harm beings made of pure electricity[113]), Paralysis Inducement (The Wave Beam is capable of briefly paralyzing Samus when she is hit by it[118], despite her having no such issue with other electric attacks[5]), Plasma Manipulation (The Plasma Beam[85] fires powerful streams of plasma[5] capable of setting enemies ablaze as well as piercing through them and striking multiple targets)Statistics Amplification and Afterimage Creation (The Speed Booster[5] allows Samus to build up speed as she runs, eventually going fast enough to shred most enemies on impact without suffering damage), limited Flight and Vibration Manipulation (The Speed Booster[5] allows Samus to perform allows Samus to perform a Shinespark, which lets her fly in any direction[44] with great strength and speed, releasing powerful shockwave/afterimages as she makes impact with a surface[69]. The Space Jump[5] allows Samus to "double jump" in mid-air infinitely during a spin jump), Energy Manipulation and Electricity Negation (The Screw Attack[5] surrounds a somersaulting Samus with an aura of energy that shreds through foes and can pierce through electrical barriers and projectiles without suffering any harm[5]), Enhanced Senses (The Gravity Suit enhances Samus' visor so she can see through low-visibility underwater areas, and the X-Ray Scope lets her see through most objects, and even see invisible ones[17] and spot illusory doubles[119]), Thread Manipulation and Magnetism Manipulation (The Grapple Beam allows Samus to project an energy wire that she can use to swing off hooks or pull at things, as well as latch on to magnetic strips, and is powerful enough to damage foes[5]), Healing (Reserve Tanks heal Samus when she is near death), Temperature Manipulation (Power Bombs unleash a superheated shockwave capable of vaporizing humans[100]), Air Manipulation (Samus' Power Bombs cause a powerful vacuum after unleashing their explosion, sucking in the remainders of their destruction[5]), Energy Manipulation (Can unleash various combos between her Charge Beam and another beam, causing the energy to orbit around her in various ways depending on the type of beam), Gravity Manipulation and Resistance to Gravity Manipulation (The Gravity Suit[5] allows Samus to manipulate her personal gravity, most commonly to travel through liquids without resistance, but also anchor herself to surfaces using its gravity abilities, in situations where she'd otherwise be swept off her feet[115]. It is also capable of negating the effect of gravity fields[3] that would otherwise slow down Samus' movements or force her to walk on ceilings[116]), Enhanced Resistance to Temperature Manipulation (The Gravity Suit protects Samus from extreme heat and extreme cold beyond what the even the Varia Suit could shield from[5])
All Super Metroid abilities minus the Hyper Beam, enhanced Homing Attack (The Seeker Missiles allow Samus to lock on to and shoot missiles at up to five simultaneous targets), Phasing (Samus' Diffusion Beam causes her Charge Shots to explode on impact: the ensuing blast can phase through solid objects such as walls[5])
All Default abilities, Reality Warping and Creation (Temporarily gained the power to create "white holes", which created enough matter to counter Greed's enormous black holes[120]), Space-Time Manipulation and Gravity Manipulation (Wields the opposite of Greed's powers, which worked by creating gravity waves[95] that could distort space-time[120]), Ice Manipulation (The Ice Beam[56] freezes enemies solid with a single shot, opening them up to be shattered by a missile or a melee attack), Electricity Manipulation, limited Homing Attack and Phasing (The Wave Beam shoots purple electric bolts that lightly home into foes[56] and pass through walls and solid objects[4]), Non-Physical Interaction (The Wave Beam can harm beings made of pure electricity[113]), Paralysis Inducement (The Wave Beam is capable of briefly paralyzing Samus when she is hit by it[121], despite her having no such issue with other electric attacks[5]), Plasma Manipulation (The Plasma Beam[85] fires powerful streams of plasma[5] capable of setting enemies ablaze as well as piercing through them and striking multiple targets), thermal visor[66] (Equipped with a thermal visor and an x-ray visor[66]), Statistics Amplification and Afterimage Creation (The Speed Booster[5] allows Samus to build up speed as she runs, eventually going fast enough to shred most enemies on impact without suffering damage), limited Flight and Vibration Manipulation (The Speed Booster[5] allows Samus to perform allows Samus to perform a Shinespark, which lets her fly in any direction[44] with great strength and speed, releasing powerful shockwave/afterimages as she makes impact with a surface[69]. The Space Jump[5] allows Samus to "double jump" in mid-air infinitely during a spin jump), Energy Manipulation and Electricity Negation (The Screw Attack[5] surrounds a somersaulting Samus with an aura of energy that shreds through foes and can pierce through electrical barriers and projectiles without suffering any harm[5]), Temperature Manipulation (Power Bombs unleash a superheated shockwave capable of vaporizing humans[100]), Air Manipulation (Samus' Power Bombs cause a powerful vacuum after unleashing their explosion, sucking in the remainders of their destruction[5]), Energy Manipulation (Can unleash various combos between her Charge Beam and another beam, causing the energy to orbit around her in various ways depending on the type of beam)
Attack Potency: At least Street level+ (Capable of jumping incredibly high even at a young age as well as defeating several armed guards with her bare hands[52]), Building level with Paralyzer (While Samus' emergency Paralyzer pistol cannot hurt the likes of Space Pirates, it's still capable of destroying large metal blocks) | At least Town level, possibly Small City level (Powered a large bomb converted into a rocket with her Power Beam. Caused and withstood the explosive eruption of a large undersea volcano. Jumped at very high speeds), at least Town level+, possibly Small City level with stronger weapons (Samus' Super Missiles, as well as other comparable attacks such as the Shinespark, are three times more powerful than her basic weapons such as the Power Beam[122][note 1]) | At least Country level (With the Gravity Suit Samus could defeat the Diggernaut, a Chozo robot that could kill her in a single hit when she wore just the Varia Suit[4], on its own powerful enough to withstand a massive nuclear explosion, destroy Raven Beak's small suns. defeated Knight, who withstood a massive explosion, and kickstart a massive volcanic eruption that rendered the sky pitch-black as far as a village could see[123]. Superior to the Federation Force, who beat a boss capable of causing significant seismic activities[124]) | At least Country level (Equipped with the Gravity Suit), far higher with Hyper Beam (Reversed a losing battle against Mother Brain, easily defeating her when she was previously defeated with little effort. Unable to hurt Silver Space Pirates with her normal gear, but can one-shots them with the Hyper Beam) | At least Country level (Equipped with the Gravity Suit) | Country level (Equipped with the Varia Suit), Star level (Could counter Greed's enormous black holes[120]), up to High Universe level overtime (Wields an opposite and equal version of Greed's power, which he would have used to remake the entire universe in his image[120]. The Metroid universe has been stated to be infinite[7]) with White Holes
Speed: Supersonic+ (As a biologically enhanced super-soldier, Samus should be superior to Joey Apronika, who could deflect some bullets. Can move fast enough to cast minor afterimages[11]) | Massively Hypersonic+ (Leaped away from a planetary explosion at these speeds) | Sub-Relativistic (Piloted her gunship in a difficult and extremely dangerous space race[2]) | Sub-Relativistic | Sub-Relativistic | Sub-Relativistic
Lifting Strength: Class 5 (Can perform superhuman jumps or landings without an issue) | At most Class M (Could stand up at the bottom of an acid ocean, though with great difficulty) | Class M (Can tear apart metal barriers with the Grapple Beam. Stronger than before. Launched the massive Vorash into the air) | Class M | Class M | Class M
Striking Strength: At least Street level+ | At least Town level, possibly Small City level | At least Country level | At least Country level (Equipped with the Gravity Suit) | At least Country level | Country level

Stamina: Superhuman. After being knocked out and infected with Phazon by Dark Samus, Samus returned to her senses much faster than the other Hunters she was fighting alongside, and managed to activate a device to save the situation she was in, despite having just suffered wounds that would leave her in a one-month coma[125]. After being mind controlled into fighting the Federation Force in a long boss battle that ended with her unconscious and buried underneath a pile of rubble, Samus woke up, freed herself and returned to a combat-ready state in the span of minutes[126]. After being forced to damage her own suit and then withstand several powerful attacks, Samus powered through a comparable enemy's prolonged fire, walking straight through it to deliver a crushing blow[66]. Could stand back up and move normally after having her atoms partially destroyed[127]. After enduring the process of having her powers ripped out of her body, which she described as nearly making her faint and leaving her barely able to crawl, Samus managed to gather enough energy for a single deadly attack out of her sheer willpower[15]. Similarly, she could gather the power to fight through sheer will after enduring through acid powerful enough to seriously damage her suit, leaving her barely able to move[16].
Range: Standard Melee Range, Several Meters with Paralyzer | Extended Melee Range (Can strike at foes from a certain distance with her arm cannon, thanks to its Energy Projection[4]), Extended Melee Range, Kilometers (Could shoot at a massive volcano's caldera from above[123]. Could shoot at ships chasing her from a distance[19]), up to Interstellar with sensors (Samus' Gunship can scan all across the Alimbic Cluster from one position[128])
Standard Equipment: See Notable Attacks & Techniques.
Intelligence: Genius. Designed the gunship she uses in Metroid Prime 3, combining both Federation and Chozo technology[129]. Won an infamous inter-planetary spaceship race through the hardest course in the galaxy, against some of the galaxy's most skilled pilots, despite all of them being out to kill her, her ship being sabotaged and the top competitor being armed with her Speed Booster[8]. Hijacked and learned how to pilot a Space Pirate ship in seconds[9].
- Combat Skill: Even by her first game outing, Samus was thought to be the greatest bounty hunter in the universe[6][7], a hotly contested title that she has held onto ever since. She has saved the galaxy multiple times from otherwise invincible threats of various kinds, won the Galactic Federation entire wars with her actions and become universally dreaded by the otherwise fierce Space Pirates.
- Marksmanship: Samus' suits enhance her aiming capabilities with a targeting system[36], though she is capable of manually surpassing their level of accuracy when needed[19]. Blasted a foe's whipping tongue out of the air[39].
- Hand to Hand Combat: Samus is a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, capable of overwhelming and disarming multiple armed opponents[1], easily defeating comparable foes[2] and incorporating acrobatic hand-to-hand combat and grappling in her fighting style[3], as well as the ability to perform Melee Counters, quick parries that stun the attacking foe for a few seconds[4], even while crouching, in Morph Ball form or in the air[5]. She has also been shown to parry attack combos[130], halt foes' attacks or grapple them[75] to give herself an opening to shoot them at point-blank range.
- Acrobatics: Samus' Power Suit enhances her natural acrobatic abilities[40], though even without it she can perform incredible feats such as quick dodges in any direction, repeating somersaults[10], wall-jumps[11] and bouncing off several creatures without even making contact with the ground[12]. Shown to use the jets on her back to halt[131] or enhance her momentum when necessary.
- Strategy: See Standard Tactics.
Standard Tactics: Samus is an extremely strategic combatant, usually utilizing her Scan Visor to gain information on enemy weaknesses to then methodically exploit them, and coming up with ingenious strategies such as overwhelming a foe's resistance to extreme temperatures by first heating them up with the Plasma Beam, and then rapidly cooling them with the Ice Beam[123], surviving a gravity attack by turning into a sphere to withstand the pressure better[2], countering a foe's Screw Attack by striking along the axis where there would be no force[39]. At the same time, she is very much capable of overwhelming opponents[3] in close quarters combat, even grappling them to deliver point-blank attacks[75], climbing onto their bodies[132] or weaving between their attacks[133] as she delivers her own. Often, Samus will aim for the inside of a monstrous foe's mouth to inflict more damage with her shots[134], or even enter it with her Morph Ball form to lay bombs within it[135]. Sometimes utilizes the Morph Ball[136] to quickly avoid attacks and reposition herself[76][31], strike a foe while moving into a better position[137], or to lay bombs when grappled by a foe, to free herself. Known to freeze enemies and then shatter them with either a missile[138] or a melee strike[139]. Will utilize her Grapple Beam[140] to disarm enemies[85] from their weaponry or shields if given the opportunity.
Weaknesses: Samus' Thermal and X-Ray visors can be overloaded by massive bursts of temperature and energy respectively, forcing her to temporarily switch back to another Visor. If Samus' suit receives incredible damage, it can permanently lose access to some of its functions, depowering Samus and requiring her to find them again[141], or even be temporarily disabled altogether[142]. Though this isn't immediately obvious, the Screw Attack can be countered by striking along the axis of its rotation[39]. Cannot control the blast radius[143] of her explosive weapons.

- Chozo Blood: Samus was genetically modified by the Chozo at a young age, receiving DNA from the Mawkin and Thoha clans, respectively donated by Raven Beak and Gray Voice, one of her caretakers growing up. This alteration to her genetic make-up grants Samus superhuman physical abilities, the ability to suppress of her eventual Metroid powers and likely Samus' clairvoyant abilities. It also enabled Samus to survive on Zebes despite its difficult conditions[12], enduring its acid rains and other inhospitable conditions[21].
- Zero Suit: A form-fitting flexible attire Samus wears beneath her Power Suit. While it lacks the innate protection and boosted defenses of her general armor, it's still capable of utilizing Energy Tanks and grants Samus extra means of protection when she is unable to access the Power Suit.
- Paralyzer Pistol: An emergency pistol Samus keeps on hand in case she is rendered unable to utilize her usual arsenal. Its main function against stronger foes is to stun them for long enough for Samus to disengage[11] safely and while it pales in comparison to Samus' usual weaponry and is relatively harmless to her typical foes, it is still capable of powering electrical machinery or destroying weaker targets and obstacles. The Paralyzer has infinite ammunition and is capable of firing rapidly, but needs to recharge briefly for shots to have a paralyzing effect.
- Power Suit: Samus' Power Suit is a highly advanced bio-mechanical armor designed by the Chozo, fully integrated with her body through her DNA. The suit responds to her will and can be summoned[11] and controlled mentally[13]. Its protective features include Energy Shields stored in Energy Tanks that absorb damage before it impacts her physically, alongside durable armor that not only mitigates and disperses impacts and energy, but also withstands extreme conditions such as extreme heat[12], underwater pressure, acids, the vacuum of space[45] and enemy attacks. Enhanced physical strength and agility allow Samus to navigate hostile environments and battle powerful foes with ease, while the suit’s self-repair systems[15] ensure continuous protection and functionality even should it sustain damage. Other features include automatic rebooting when shut-down or struck with an EMP, as well as thrusters on its back that enable Samus to enhance her jumping capabilities, make quick high-speed movements to dodge incoming attacks or perform acrobatic actions. Most importantly, the Power Suit is a highly adaptable piece of technology that has the capacity to interface with technology and weaponry, "upgrading" itself with new additional weapons, features, and data.
- Varia Suit: Samus' iconic Varia Suit[48] has all the capabilities of the Standard Power Suit, and is designed to provide enhanced protection and adaptability. The Varia Suit increases Samus' defense, reducing the damage she takes from enemies and environmental hazards by a substantial degree while also enhancing her physical strength even further. Its most notable function is its resistance to extreme heat[101], allowing Samus to explore high-temperature areas like lava-filled caverns and volcanic regions without issue. The suit also offers protection against cold environments[59] and freezing attacks.
- Gravity Suit: The Gravity Suit[5] retains and upgrades all functionality of the Power Suit and Varia Suit. Its primary function is to allow Samus to move freely uninhibited by external factors through use of manipulating its own gravity, enabling her to act unaffected in various conditions, such as submersion in water, lava, acid and other substances, exposure to gravitational fields[3] or intense suction and pressure[115], and more, allowing her to move about as if she were on land. In addition to this, the Gravity Suit also boasts enhanced protective properties, further enhancing her resistance to temperatures and acids and bolstering her overall defense to even greater levels compared to the Varia Suit.
- Energy Tanks: Energy Tanks are essential items that increase Samus' maximum "health" capacity. Her suit uses an energy-based shielding system[48] to protect from damage of all kinds, whether it be physical, environmental, or unconventional. Every time Samus takes damage the suit expends energy units proportional to the damage she would have taken instead, protecting her and the suit from harm as long as energy remains. Each Energy Tank provides an additional 100 units of energy (Which has rejuvenating properties for both organic and technological targets), allowing Samus to shoulder even more damage before her suit's integrity is compromised. Energy Tanks are permanently added to Samus' health bar upon collection, and multiple tanks can be stacked to significantly extend her total energy pool, with the total amount varying between appearances[note 2].
- Reserve Tanks: Serving as backup energy storage, Reserve Tanks provide an emergency energy refill when Samus' energy is depleted. They can be manually filled by collecting energy pickups when Samus' health is full, or they can be filled automatically as Samus finds more energy along her journey, and activated automatically when her energy is low or manually whenever Samus wishes to.
- Power Grip: The Power Grip is a key upgrade in Metroid: Zero Mission, and later a base feature within her suit. With this ability, Samus can cling to and pull herself up onto edges that are too high for her to reach otherwise, greatly enhancing her mobility.
- Hi-Jump Boots: The Hi-Jump Boots magnify Samus' jumping capabilities, enabling her to jump further and higher than she otherwise would be able.
- Visors:
- Combat Visor: The Combat Visor[48] is the Power Suit's default visor, providing Samus with a clear heads-up display for combat and exploration. This visor highlights enemies, objects and important environmental details, offering all the essential information Samus needs during regular interactions. It displays her Energy Tanks and defenses, the health of enemies, danger levels, missile and energy counts, and allows Samus to aim and fire her weapons effectively due to a built-in targeting system[36].
- Scan Visor: The Scan Visor is one of Samus's most crucial tools, designed to uncover a range of information from her surroundings[54]. When activated, the visor highlights notable objects, enemies, organisms and other points of interest, which Samus can scan to obtain relevant detailed data and crucial information, such as biological structure, weak points, behavioral tendencies, and resistance to different weapons. The visor also detects environmental hazards, determining toxicity levels, chemical compositions, radiation levels and more, and can bypass encrypted technology, unlock secured doors, disable automated defenses and manipulate machinery.
- Global Map: Samus' suit comes with a map feature which updates in real-time as she explores her environment[54]. Initially her maps start off with little detail, but as she explores further her suit will automatically update in response, fleshing out her maps with geography, obstacles and details. The suit is also capable of downloading map data from external sources, as well as track ongoing activity on a planetary scale, keeping her aware of things such as seismic activity or even the potential locations of useful items. Additionally, Samus has shown the ability to register bioforms and automatically track their numbers and position in real time, a feature utilized to exterminate the Metroids on SR-388.
- Arm Cannon:
- Power Beam: The Power Beam is Samus' default weapon, integrated into her Arm Cannon, and is the most basic form of energy attack she utilizes. It fires rapid, comparatively low-damage energy shots and has unlimited ammunition, making it a reliable but modest offensive tool. The Power Beam's shots are focused and mainly concussive in nature, though they also output really high temperatures[5].
- Long Beam: Greatly enhances the Arm Cannon's range. Originally an addition, this became a standard part of her arsenal.
- Charge Beam: An additional upgrade to her Arm Cannon that enables Samus[5] to charge her beam weaponry[48], condensing energy within her cannon before firing a much larger and more powerful blast. Much like the Long Beam, this becomes a standard facet in most future missions after Zero Mission. It also boasts a tractor function, drawing energy towards her while charging[71]. If Samus performs a spin jump while holding a full charge, she will perform a Charge Attack, releasing the energy of her blast onto the first foe that she collides with.
- Spazer: An upgrade that causes the Arm Cannon to shoot three projectiles at once as opposed to one, effectively boosting both damage and range. The additional beams shoot directly below and above the standard one.
- Wave Beam: The Wave Beam shoots electricity-based attacks that oscillate in a wave-like pattern, slightly home towards foes and can phase through solid objects and barriers[4].
- Ice Beam: The Ice Beam can freeze enemies and obstacles in addition to dealing damage. Frozen enemies can be used as platforms or even be shattered by additional attacks.
- Plasma Beam: The Plasma Beam[85] is one of Samus' most powerful weapons. It fires concentrated superheated plasma shots[5] that often turn enemies to ash outright and are capable of piercing through multiple enemies or obstacles.
- Grapple Beam: The Grapple Beam[5] fires a long, tethered energy beam that attaches to various surfaces, enabling Samus to swing across wide areas or reach otherwise inaccessible locales. In addition to that, it can also be used in combat to stun certain enemies by latching onto them, to pick up energy drops or to act as a conduit for electricity.
- Morph Ball: One of Samus' most iconic abilities, the Morph Ball[5] allows her to near-instantly transform into a small sphere less than one meter wide, primarily useful to to navigate tight spaces that she would otherwise be unable to access. While in Morph Ball form, Samus sacrifices her normal mobility and weapon use but gains access to various tools such as Bombs or Power Bombs that can be deployed to destroy obstacles or attack enemies. The Morph Ball also enhances her maneuverability in certain areas and environmental challenges, where precise control is required to navigate narrow or complex paths. In combat, the Morph Ball often serves as a defensive tool, making Samus harder to hit while she quickly repositions or hides from a foe.
- Spring Ball: Enables Samus to "jump" even while in Morph Ball form.
- Bombs: Utilized most commonly while in Morph Ball, the Bomb[5] feature allows Samus to drop small timed explosives underneath her. These bombs have infinite ammunition and are primarily used to destroy breakable objects, access hidden areas, and interact with the environment. They also deal damage to enemies within their small blast radius and can prove to be quite powerful in confined spaces such as a gigantic foe's insides. Samus also has the ability to "bomb jump", chaining Bomb explosions to propel herself upwards indefinitely, without ever suffering harm, or to throw bombs Bombs without need of transforming.
- Power Bombs: Power Bombs are one of Samus' most powerful and destructive tools. When deployed, a Power Bomb[5] will detonate after a few moments, creating a massive explosion that washes the entire vicinity in a potent heat wave which often destroys the environment and evaporates whatever is caught within it. While powerful, Power Bombs are often limited in supply[note 3], with Samus needing to refuel or gather more should she run out. The blast is followed by a potent vacuum affect, sucking in whatever may survive the blast.
- Missile: One of Samus' key offensive tools, offering significantly more firepower than her standard Power Beam attacks. Missiles are fired from Samus' Arm Cannon and deliver powerful, high-impact explosive blasts that deal damage. Unlike the Power Beam, Missiles are limited in quantity[note 4], but they are essential for dealing with tougher enemies that require more destructive force to defeat, and can seek targets that Samus has locked-on to[48].
- Super Missile: One of Samus' more powerful weapons, boasting triple the power of standard Missiles[122]. They can destroy barriers even normal missiles can't break through and are even capable of detonating in a large-blast wave granting an effective area-of-effect option. Much like the standard variant, Samus only has a limited quantity at a given time[note 5].
- Speed Booster: The Speed Booster is a mobility upgrade that allows Samus to dash at supersonic velocity[5] after sprinting for a few moments. Once fully charged, the Speed Booster enables her to break through obstacles and plow through enemies, allowing her to cross great distances and deal massive damage if she is capable of building up speed. This momentum also boosts Samus jumping capabilities as one would expect, and generates bolts of electricity across the ground as she runs.
- Shinespark: Samus can store the kinetic energy from her Speed Booster-powered sprint, releasing it in a powerful burst. With Shinespark, she can launch herself in any direction—upward, horizontally, or diagonally—allowing her to reach high places, and effectively fly till she hits something, with her being able to transition back to her mach-speed dash should she hit an appropriate target such as slope, enabling her to move between Shinesparking and boosting should the situation allow for it. In addition to being a powerful movement option, the Shinespark is one of her most powerful weapons and releases powerful shockwave/afterimages as she makes impact with a surface[69], striking foes around her. Samus has even shown the ability to alter her Shinespark's direction in rapid-succession[44], essentially enabling her to mimic flight and even weaving through attacks at high-speed.
- Space Jump: This upgrade allows Samus to repeatedly and indefinitely somersault[5], enabling her to effectively fly through the air.
- Screw Attack: One of Samus' most powerful weapons. When she spin jumps Samus is covered in a destructive energy that obliterates most enemies and objects on contact, destroying most threats before they can harm her and nullifying electric attacks[5]. While powerful Samus can still be knocked out of it by sufficient force, and her axis of rotation is not protected by the spinning.
- Crystal Flash: The Crystal Flash is a unique technique that allows Samus to recover energy in critical situations by using a Power Bomb. To activate it, Samus must meet specific conditions: She must have less than 50 units of energy remaining (not counting Reserve Tanks), at least 10 Missiles, 10 Super Missiles and 11 Power Bombs in her inventory. If all conditions are met, instead of laying a regular Power Bomb, Samus will enter the Crystal Flash, summoning a large energy shield around her her as she absorbs the energy from the Power Bomb, completely refilling her health and Energy Tanks while consuming the required ammunition. While this is a powerful technique, it leaves Samus open to damage throughout its duration, making it very dangerous to use.
- Concentration: By focusing for a few seconds Samus is capable of healing herself while in the suit[3], replenishing some energy and even missile ammunition. Samus must briefly pause to use this ability, forcing her to briefly break away from immediate danger or wait until her foes have been vanquished before making use of it.
All Standard Abilties & Equipment (with the exception of Reserve Tanks and Spazer), as well as:
- Wide Beam: Functionally identical to the Spazer Beam, this beam upgrade enables Samus' Arm Cannon to fire three shots simultaneously, one just above and the other just below the initial beam.
- Spider Ball: While in Morph Ball, Samus can activate this ability. Described as a "Sticky Ball", it allows Samus to attach herself to surfaces and scale vertical walls, ceilings or even large enemies, as well as attach to a surface to prevent herself from being blown away. It is however unable to attach to slippery surfaces.
- Energy Reserves: Optional Equipment only: Acting similar to Reserve Tanks featured within Super Metroid, Samus has 3 different kinds available to her. An Energy Reserve Tank that upon having her Energy depleted, will automatically activate, restoring 299 Units of Energy to her suit, aiding in survivably and acting as a Safety Net. The second is a Missile Reserve Tank that upon running out of ammunition, will restore up to 50 Missiles and 10 Super Missiles. Lastly, an Aeion Reserve Tank that will replenish 500 Aeion upon running out. All Tanks have indefinite usage, but upon being used, must be manually refilled by gathering the respective resources, with the amount gathered, being the amount automatically restored upon activation, up to the aforementioned limits.
- Aeion: A mystical energy that is seemingly generated by the planet SR-388 itself, and subsequently utilized and contained within all its flora, fauna and technology, which Samus utilizes to fuel a variety of abilities. Samus has a limited amount of Aeion represented by a gauge with a default capacity of 1000 and a maximum of 2200 units, which is consumed whenever she uses an Aeion ability. Samus can gather more Aeion from defeated foes, but also has access to an Aeion Reserve Tank, which automatically refills her Aeion Gauge to 500 if depleted once, before needing to be refilled itself.. In the events of Metroid Dread, Samus retains Aeion, but can now quickly regenerate any portion of its supply when depleted. The reasons for this change are unknown.
- Beam Burst: When activated, the Beam Burst allows Samus to fire a continuous stream of rapid-fire high-damage energy shots, significantly increasing her offensive capabilities. Beam Burst consumes Aeion energy while in use, preventing Samus from using it indefinitely.
- Scan Pulse: An Aeion ability through which Samus scans her surroundings with a range of dozens of meters, unveiling their geography and pinpointing the structural integrity of materials around her, highlighting secrets and so forth[5].
- Lightning Armor: allows Samus to coat herself with an energy field that protects her from attacks, shredding foes on contact and extending the range of her Melee Counter. Lightning Armor consumes Aeion energy while it is active, draining the Aeion energy meter steadily over time.
- Phase Drift: Enabling Samus to manipulate the flow of time, the Phase Drift slows down everything around her while she moves at a perceived normal speed. This ability is extremely useful for precise platforming, avoiding fast-moving obstacles, or dodging enemy attacks that would otherwise be difficult to evade. Phase Drift consumes Aeion energy while active, draining the Aeion energy meter as long as the ability is in use.
All Standard Abilties & Equipment, as well as:
- X-Ray Scope: The X-Ray Scope is a scanning tool built into her visor that allows Samus to see hidden objects, paths, and the integrity of objects. When activated, the X-Ray Scope emits a scanning beam, revealing the hidden, invisible[17] and illusory [119].
- Special Charge Beam Attack: By combining the Charge Beam with another beam type and expending one Power Bomb, then charging up her Arm Cannon, Samus will perform a unique energy based attack dependent on the beam type in question.
- Diamond Dust (ダイアモンドダスト): Ice Beam; Generates four bolts of ice-like energy that circle Samus like a barrier for roughly 10 seconds, after which the bolts fire off in multiple directions, with each bolt being equivalent to a fully charged Ice Beam shot in power. If an enemy makes contact with the bolts while they act as a barrier, the bolt will freeze the enemy and vanish. As a drawback, Samus cannot fire until all four bolts have been used up or have left her general vicinity.
- Asteroid Belt (アステロイドベルト):Wave Beam; Four wave beams will surround Samus and oscillate in an X-like pattern for several seconds, before spreading out and moving in an inconsistent pattern for a time.
- Stardust Shower (スターダストシャワー): Spazer Beam; Fires two bolts of energy that circle Samus then ascend and explode into a rain of energy that damages all enemies around her.
- Emerald Splash (エメラルドスプラッシュ): Plasma Beam; Manifests four ring-like plasma shots that rotate around Samus, moving back and forth around her, before shooting off in a diagonal from in four directions.
- Hyper Beam: A devastatingly powerful beam gifted to Samus by the Baby Metroid, after taking it from Mother Brain. Far more powerful than any other attack in her arsenal, the Hyper Beam allowed Samus to easily win an otherwise impossible battle against Mother Brain and tear through her forces while escaping the self-destructing planet of Zebes.
All Abilities & Equipment featured in Super Metroid (excluding the Hyper Beam), as well as:
- Diffusion Beam: An upgrade to the Charge Beam that charged shots to explode and scatter on impact into a burst of more projectiles, making it efficient at taking out group of enemies or dealing enhanced damage[5].
- Seeker Missile: Enables Samus to[48] lock-on to up to 5 targets at once, firing up to 5 homing missiles once she chooses to release them. While she can target up to 5 individual targets, she can also lock-on to the same target multiple times allowing her to unleash even all five missiles at the same foe.
All Standard Abilities & Equipment (with the exception of the Gravity Suit, Reserve Tanks, and Spazer), as well as:
- X-Ray Scope: The X-Ray Scope is a scanning tool built into her visor that allows Samus to see hidden objects, paths, and the integrity of objects. When activated, the X-Ray Scope emits a scanning beam, revealing the hidden, invisible[17] and illusory [119].
- Animus' Power: A divine power granted by a god-like being known as the Animus. When the maniacal Greed who had been granted a similar kind of power from the Animus attempted to use it to create black holes across the universe[95] that would expand at incredible rates and destroy all of it, Samus pledged to protect reality and briefly gained equivalent reality warping abilities which she utilized to manifest countless white holes across the cosmos[120] to cancel out Greed's maniacal destruction and save the entire universe.
Note: Thanks to her Rage Power, Samus is capable of multiplying her power by at least five times[144]. These are the ratings she reaches when her Rage Power is in full effect.
- Power Suit: At least High 7-C [1.42e+15 Joules], possibly Low 7-B [2.26e+16 Joules], possibly Low 7-B [4.25e+15] or 7-B [6.78e+16] with stronger weapons
- Other Suits: 6-B [2.44e+23 Joules]
- ↑ While Samus' weapon power should remain relatively consistent between keys, by the Varia Suit key most of her loadout is equal or superior to her Super Missiles, and her durability is comparable to their power. Thus, the durability feats she performs are not affected by the multiplier granted by ADAM's statement
