Summary

Murray is the muscle of the Gang and Sly's full-time wheelman and part-time burden, in charge of driving the Cooper Gang's van to various locations. As a large pink hippopotamus, he is amazingly strong. He often ventures to the field on missions requiring such strength. When Bentley is injured in Sly 2, he blames himself and leaves the Gang to the Australian Outback, looking for a more peaceful state of mind, but eventually returns when Bentley is attacked by Italian crime mob leader Don Octavio, one of the Cooper Gang enemies. It is stated that he has developed a more serious personality, though he remains a happy-go-lucky hippo.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Skilled at hand to hand combat and is a decent driver, Fire Manipulation, Time Stop (Via Temporal Lock), Fear Manipulation (Via Guttural Roar), Status Effect Inducement (Can cause his opponents to run around randomly in a state of confusion with Cuffs of Confusion), He can curl up into a ball and bounce off the ground to reach high altitudes, Resistance to Radiation (In the third game, he covers himself in radiation as part of a plan to trick the Mask of Dark Earth, and he does it without any protection or negative effects)

Attack Potency: Large Building level (Physically stronger than Sly, can fight and overpower other people on his level like Rajan or the Grizz.)

Speed: Subsonic (Can almost outrun arrows in Thieves in Time, and can keep up with Sly)

Lifting Strength: Class 5 (Was able to tow the cooper van while it was encased in ice, lift Clock-La's Beak, throw a small statue dozens of feet, and carry the Clockwerk wings which are massive metallic wings spanning over 10 feet in size)

Intelligence: Slightly Below Average (Academically, he has been heavily emphasized as the brawns of the Cooper gang trio, has admitted that he lacks smarts, and Sly who is better than Murray in terms of intellect has said in Honor Among Thieves Episode 5 Dead Men Tell No Tells he's not good with school.)

Likely Above Average in terms of combat skills (Is a skilled Boxer, who can use certain maneuvers, objects and areas to his creative advantage. He also is a good learner on developer new skills, such as the time when he made himself into a ball and lessons from the Garu.)

Weaknesses: He's not very agile, was cowardly in the first game, but soon became braver later on, he has a childish mentality and game mechanics wise he can't swim but in Thieves in Time he is shown in a cutscene to be able to.

  • Thunder Flop: Murray's signature move. From midair, he performs a high-speed belly flop that creates a powerful shockwave.
  • Fists of Flame: Allows Murray to set his hands on fire, inflicting fire damage to any guard that he punches.
  • Juggernaut Throw: Causes any object thrown by Murray to explode on impact, creating a shockwave akin to that of the Thunder Flop.
  • Raging Inferno Flop: An upgrade to the Thunder Flop that creates a wall of flame around Murray once he hits the ground.
  • Aboriginal Ball Form: Murray curls into a ball and concentrates all of his spiritual energy, allowing him to bounce to insane heights and smash objects with much greater force than before.
  • Licks of Lightning: Coats Murray's fists in electricity, allowing him to electrocute enemies by punching them.
  • Cuffs of Confusion: Allow Murray to throw punches that cause any foe he hits to run around aimlessly.
  • Ducks of Dynamite: Allow Murray to throw explosive punches, dealing far greater damage than usual.
  • Clothesline: Rushes forward with a double clothesline.
  • El Drop'o: Murray performs an elbow drop in midair, creating a small shockwave once his elbow hits the ground.
  • Berserker Charge: Murray rushes forward at high speed, barreling through any enemies or obstacles in his way before coming to a screeching halt.
  • Guttural Roar: A massive roar that temporarily scares away every enemy in the vicinity.
  • Fist Spin: Murray charges his fists with energy and, once finished, performs a spin attack with his fists.
