I have voted in favour of Ainz getting general resistance for the reasons mentioned in the arguments in that thread, and I’m pretty sure a couple of others Pen hasn’t mentioned has also voted for the same reasons as well.
Either way, my vote should be in, along with the other users’ votes in favour of Ainz getting general resistance as I’m pretty sure the general resistance argument hasn’t been truly debunked/disapproved.
"I must admit Mr. Parker, your resume is certainly impressive. The perpetual tardiness reported by your references is concerning but I have good reason to believe that the benefits will outweigh the downsides." Director Mc Mullen said as he walked with Peter fown the halls of GENTECK. They stopped at a laboratory, walking in to find one would man working alone, staring at something through a microscope. "Dr. Parker, this is Alexander J. Mercer. You'll be working with him in the biological we- uh, resources department." Peter outstretched his hand. "Dr. Mercer. I've followed some of your work on bio engineering. Fascinating stuff. Pleased to meet you." Mercer gave Peter a once over before dismissively grunting and going back to his work. "Okay then. Not a people person."
"Listen kid. Whatever your life story is, I don't care. I'm not getting paid to make friends. Keep your life to yourself and don't fuck anything up, and we'll be fine." Mercer said dismissively. Peter looked to Mc Mullen for advice, but the director just shrugged. "If you think this is bad, you should see him on Mondays." And with that the director left.
It had been a few weeks sense Peter had started working at GENTECK and so far Mercer had remained just as frosty as he was on the first day. "Heh, do you mind passing the coffee filter?" Alex ignored him. "Hey, I said-"
"Do it yourself. I'm busy." This guy could learn social skills from Jameson. Peter thought. "I'm gping to the bathroom, don't touch anything. As Mercer left, Peter started to get curious. Sure, Peter hadn't exactly been standing around doing nothing, but Mercer never seemed to let him in on his main project. Sure, he'd helped him with side projects here and there. Stuff like cell reproduction and viral resistances, but that seemed rather small compared to the genius of the man he was working with. Against his better judgement, Peter walked over and took a peak into the microscope. "Oh. Oh god."
"Impressed? I call it Blacklight." Mercer asked from the doorway, a smug grin spread across his features. "This is...."
"I believe the word you're searching for is revolutionary." Peter looked at him in horror. "This could destroy cities. Kill millions of people." Mercer laughed. "Cities? You're thinking too small Parker. When I'm done that thing will be an apocalypse in a vial."
"This thing could already kill us all, I can't let you..." Mercer pulled out a vial and held precariously with just two fingers. "Do you want to test that?" Peter didn't want to do this, but he didn't have any other options at this point. He rushed Alex, faster than the normal man could react, and attempted to grab the vial from his hand. "Dammit, let go." Peter had miscalculated, he'd rushed him just a bit too hard and the two tumbled into some electrical equipment. Mercer screamed in agony as Peter let go, his lifeless body dropping to the floor. Peter only realized what Mercer landed on when he heard the crack of glass being shattered. "What's going on in there!" Peter heard someone ask from outside the room. Crap. Not good. I can't let anyone else get their hands on this stuff. Peter grabbed the petri dish and jumped out the window, hoping that no one would see him swinging away un the dead of the night.
"Name: Mercer. Alex J. Cause of death, laboratory accident involving electrical equipment." The coroner listed off as he zipped the body bag shut. If the zipper hadn't been closed, he would've noticed the exact moment when the Blacklight Virus woke up.
Vol 2 coming soon (I'll continue this later, I have a lot more to add.)
Is this a challange? How dare you! :P (Note this is meant to be joking and I aplogize if you found it rude! Im just bad at using the slash...Sorry!)
Joking aside I love it, so question will the out break actually happen or will mercer just wander off to figure himself out? While I find the idea of the outbreak happening on marvel earth fun it would be a headache to write around as marvel earth is so vastly different from prototype earth.
I do enjoy the fact spider yet again accidentally created a super villian.
It, was lost. It woke in darkness cold metal pressing into its back. Where was it? What was it? It dug through its mind, blurry thoughts melding together randomy burning an cinching together...It was a he wasn't it? That sounded right...
Darkness sourounded him, coating him, devouring him. Where was he? Who was he? Shaking these thoughts from his head he attempted to sit up head hitting a metallic roof.
Annoyance tore through him, and suddenly he could see, the world turning a light monochrome. He saw four identical metal walls so incredibly close, allowing for almost no movement. Voices echoed from somewhere by his feet, something in him knew they were in a room beyond the metal walls.
"So, what happened to Dr. Mercer?" A feminine voice questioned as the footsteps drew closer. Something itched in the back of his mind, burning through his skull as the two continued to talk. Images flashed through his mind, a lab, equipment, an assistant, pain, and a name Parker. It was with some confusion a thought finally settled on the surface of his mind. His name, he was Alex Mercer.
"Crazy bastard tripped over a cable landed in a bunch of electrical equipment. I thought it'd be stress...Guy never left the lab. Upper management is pissed though, the samples he was working on are gone and all his files were deleted by some freak virus. To top it off nobody knows where this paranoid bastard hid the backups." A male voice mumbled, bright florescent light poured into Alex metal sarcophagus as the tray he was laying on was yanked from the wall. Alex squinted his eyes as the two figures came into focus, a large darkly skinned man was reading a chart while a pale redheaded woman seemed frozen in horror. No doubt having noticed Alex moving eyes.
"Linda, would you grab the gurney?" The man questioned without looking up from his chart. After a few seconds of dead silence, he glanced up from his chart annoyance coloring his face.
"Well? What are you..." He was cut off as Alex pushed himself up into a sitting position. Looking about the room he recognized as a morgue, he moved to sit up both the man and women taking several steps back. The woman was clutching something under her coat the man was backing towards a large red button, an alarm Alex mind screamed.
There was barely a thought as Alex lept across the room catching the mans arm as it approached the alarm button. Alex felt himself glare in the fearful man's eyes as he shoved him forcefully away from the button. The man flew across the room slamming into a gurney with a yelp of pain. Alex could feel shocked and something else race through his body. He hadn't meant to do that, he simply wanted to push the man away from the alarm.
The women had pulled a gun from her side, pointing it at him. Alex sighed internally, his strength aside he had no wish to die, or die again if what the two said was true. He needed help, he didn't know who he was beyond his own name and he didn't know where he was.
He lifted his arms over his heads in a sign of surrender, but the women perhaps by mistake or due to panic pulled the trigger. He felt it, the bullet ripping into him but there was no pain only the knowledge he was being damaged. Alex felt something in him boil, he leaped across the room smashing his fist into, and through the women's chest blood splattering across the wall behind her.
Alex felt things rise from his back and shoulders, slim black tendrils ripped into the women. The man still recovering from his flight across the room screamed as Alex became someone else.
Linda Evans, three daughters, and a husband. Love for all of them echoing in her heart. Didn't want to come into work today but didn't want to upset her boss. Confusion raced through Alex, or was it, Linda? No, he had killed Linda...More he had become her, consumed her...
The injured man was back on his feet, attempting to not draw attention to himself as he moved to the elevator. Alex was lost, why wasn't he sad? Or guilty? He had killed someone, taken from them everything but he felt no remorse no sadness. Nothing for the four people that would cry for the women he'd just taken from the world.
With steely resolve Alex mercer shoved those thoughts aside, he needed answers and he now knew how to get them. He walked past the fearful man, eyeing the elevator lightly, it required fingerprint recognition to enter or leave the morgue. It was a thoughtless action as Alex felt his skin morph, change forming into the familiar form of Linda Evans. The doors whirring open with an electric ding, Alex turned to the terrified man who seemed almost catatonic with shock.
"Linda?" The man Gregory according to Linda's memories asked with a bizarre mix of fear and hope. Alex felt torn, he didn't want to be discovered and this man had attempted to pull the alarm but he seemed so pathetic now. Shoving aside his doubt he stepped forward and embraced Gregory...
Meant to be a line break here didn't keep the formatting aplogies
Mark Hanes was a simple man, standing at five foot and six inches. He had light pale skin and dark auburn hair, despite the fact he'd had Lasic three years earlier he still wore a pair of nonprescription glasses. He felt they gave him a more intelligent air despite the teasing it had earned him from his friends and family.
More notably he had been working with Gentek for the last thirty years and was well aware of many of it's less than...Ideal activities. He often brushed them off or was in charge of highering people to clean up the mess the company left behind. He was now in charge of one of there biggest messes yet, Alex mercer drops dead and all his research is gone. To top it off nobody knows where the lunatic hid the damn backups.
Mark had been entirely against highering Alex Mercer, not because he doubted the man's genius. Anyone who interacted with him for five minutes could see Alex brilliance. Nor was it due to Mercer's condescending nature, no it was due to mercers ambition. Mark had always been talented at reading others and the feelings he got from mercer terrified him.
Mark sensed ambition within mercer, an unrelenting force needing to enforce Mercer's vision on the world. He'd told higher-ups that Mercer would blow up in their faces and he was proven right. Though he felt very relieved, he had been sure Mercer blowout would be far larger than a few missing files. Sure those files were worth ten's of millions but he had been fearful for the fate of the actual city while Mercer worked for them. Marks reverie was interrupted as his office doors opened.
"Mark, we couldn't find anything to suggest the location of the files on mercers body, any luck on your end," Gregory explained as he entered the room seeming just as tired as mark felt. Mark had known Gregory for years and while their relationship could at best be dubbed acquaintances there was a certain camaraderie between the two men as two cogs in the Gentek machine.
"Well, unofficially we've sent some...Friendly assets to interrogate his sister but I have my doubts that will lead anywhere..." As mark finished he noted Gregory gripping his head, seemingly in pain.
"Are you all right?" He questioned as he watched Gregory slowly remove his hands from his head. Mark reached into one of the many drawers in his desk and returned with a bottle of aspirin, leaving the bottle on the desk as an offering to the recovering man.
"It's fine just...Just a headache. So why is upper management so sure Mercer made backups?" Gregory asked ignoring the offered medication, Mark felt slightly miffed but he knew many people who refused aspirin on some bizarre principle thus pushed his annoyance aside.
"Nah, Mercer was insanely paranoid I'm willing to bet he had several backups, the problem is he would have left them places only he would know. Managements just throwing a fit because their golden goose kicked the bucket," Mark explained as he reached into his desk gripping a bottle of bourbon, the day had been long and Gregory seemed like he needed it.
"How about a drink! To Mercer being a pain in our asses even after he died?" Mark asked with a chuckle as he laid the bourbon and glasses out, pouring the drinks with practiced ease.
"...That sounds great." Gregory smiled as he took one of the filled glasses, they toasted lightly. Suddenly he felt something holding his wrist, glancing down he saw Gregory's hand. Growling in annoyance he looked up, only there was something wrong with Gregory's eyes, they weren't chocolate brown but a familiar inhuman glacial blue. It was with a certain smugness that Mark had his final thoughts, he had been right all along Mercer was too ambitious.
I know it's just alex waking up but I feel such things need to be explored, the first few moments of alex life defined him so I tried to keep with the idea he was shot early on. Sorry it's not that exciting :P
Basically I feel you could have explored the relationship between peter and Human alex a bit more (Note from now on I will refer to human Alex mercer as simply alex and Virus Alex mercer as Simply Mercer)
Alex would never warm up to peter in any capacity but I feel peter would have noticed the symptoms of several of alexs physcological disorders. Alex was a monster but he was also very mentally ill. He had socipathic tendencies, ocd, crippling paranoia and a lack of empathy.
Now while alex would always be cold to peter, peter himself is incredibly prespective and empathetic. I feel theirs a real missed oprotunity here as we could see how peter tries to think of some way to get alex the help peter knows he needs.
Maybe he even had a plan to force alex to seek help but he wanted to give alex time to come to peter/finish his project. Then everything goes wrong alex dies, and peter failed not only prevent his death but despite seeing seing the signs he failed to save alex from himself.
It would add a scondary layer to later interactions with virus mercer later as peter would feel it was a second chance to save someone. Making it all the more crushing as he struggles. It would also add meat to the chapter, give the readers more to chew on.
Aplogies if any of this comes across as rude these are simply my thoughts
Its not quite over death theres a few hours left before grace but I think we're pretty set! Im mentally exhausted and my story may suffer a secondary delay due to my new head ache lol :P Still it was enjoyable though I wish the arguments hadn't been so circular.
cal once mentioned to me when I asked about sonics bio manip that he has some stuff on his profile that suss and considering the refusal to share scans I cant help but wonder how accurate his assesment was.
I know, but I feel like I should not reply until someone else replies (especially with an argument) in that thread. Basically, just try to wait it out. It would be pretty frustrating to see arguments like these to pop back from other users after all. And Indeed it was circular. If only it was like my debate with Ciruno in the Vanilla Ice vs Alex Mercer thread (that was one of the most logical and entertaining debate I've had on this site).
Ah, nice. Guess there is something up with Sonic's profile... Eh, let the audits deal with it (they're going to pop into existence soon enough).
I'm doing fine. I had a day's rest and I am no longer bummed from the test I did yesterday.
Same no use fanning the flames, in the end if they don't bring scans (Which at this point they haven't shown a propensity to) then its pretty much a shut case.
Yeah I told cal Ide leave it to him overall. Im glad your feeling better!
Ive thought about that but ive never come across an image that looks right to me, honestly were I more skilled in photo editing Id probably combine two images with a pen and sword. Let me know if you ever come across an image that would fit though!
Okay. Can't believe I didn't see this reply when I actively went looking for one. :P
Well, I've found [this image in the link] anyways. In my opinion, the pen being mightier than the sword but the guy still prefers his laptop gives a touch of humour into it as well. Not sure if its up to your taste though, since it doesn't showcase a pen or a sword outside of the shadows of them.
I wouldn't actively look for one after this since you've said it, but I will let you know if I spot any other images that seems fitting.
Yes, but do those vote matter after the grace period ends?
It would be frustrating to have a match conclude, only to have a sudden influx of votes right after the match is about to get added to the characters' profile, thus putting the thread back in a cycle...
Edit: I shouldn't have expected any better from something as popular as the Sonic fandom, which is a verse where the profiles for the characters there are popular enough to get locked...
Sadly, he doesn't seem active at this time... So any available staff/admin with the authority to add the match to the characters' profile sounds viable at this point...
Edit: I am desperately hoping that he is active by the time grace period ends with the bottom of my heart right now. Also, I feel like you should inform Schnee about closing the thread once the vote ends without replying in the thread as well, to minimise the risks of the sudden vote influx right after the grace period ends.
Well death we've done all we can at this point, worse case we end up bothering another staff when we get back. While Id like to stay up and personally see the addtions Im not sure how much longer I can hold out. Arguing with sonic fans is quite draining.
Ah this brings a grin to my face to see your interest lol :)
I know nothing about mesadaverse, sorry! working SOD (Summoner of death) And a rwby/prototype crossover that will focus on the relationship between mercer and weiss as she grows up with the strange shadowy creature in her life.
Hey I intend to finish some of them (SOD is one I definitly intend to finish...Though you said you don't know overlord....bit of bad luck there sorry!) Rwby crossovers gonna end up being in arcs and the plots going off the rails rather quickly lol.
Im not gonna lie a few of the stories, like alex in mha while solid ideas just aren't ones im interested in fully exploring for the moment. When I envitably come back Ill probably rewrite it with a new interpretation of mercer im trying out.
(Don't tell death but Ive written another chapter of a Steven universe fic, even though my enjoyment of the show varies greatly :P)
As for how I found this place? I stalked space battles and comic vine but got tired of the circular arguments that no one could agree on, while those happen here the profiles help the site keep a concise version of the characters. WIth that I don't have to watch a thread go back and forth eternally about what is and isn't an outlier.
Ah come on, why do all the RWBY fanfics tend to go like that >:v
I mean, at least make it good :v
Also, to be fair Steven Universe is good but most if not all of the fandom is trash, the people who watch it tend to be cancerous to the ninth degree, but the show is actually somewhat good.
Also, to keep it simple and interesting, why dont throw mercer in a verse where he isnt a godlike being who stomps everyone (looking at you FoZ >:v) like, I dunno, Slime/DC (lol)/ marvel (Venom vs Mercer)/ etc.
Because mercer being there means the fall of beacon never happens, and from there its all going to go off. Then theres mercer trying to understand grim, aura, andriods, ozpin going wtf, salem wondering why cinders dead ect. :P
I do like the ideas the problem is mercers liable to get himself killed or remain in hiding in quite a few of those verses.(looking at you slime verse) He'd have to get really creative to get anywhere in dc/marvel, which could actually be quite fun... I actually had a plan for mercer going through the orginal dragon ball and his slow careful genetics collecting and his presence in the world.
I also had a plan for alex in steven universe acting as a monster steven can't reason with, I would have also used him to lampshade the fact humanity is far more peaceful in there verse. Basically have him being in control of the governments and keeping everything in line.
So random question if there was one prototype crossover you could ask for and have it be written about what would it be? Not a promise Ill write for it but my muse is getting antsy and Im interested in new ideas :P
Don't worry death noodles has got me working on rwby :P
Between the ones you've listed its between inuyasha and fairy tail....hmmm
Personality wise Id likely use my new scientist mercer rather then one or two personality though.
Scientist mercer is cold and willing to torture/kill people cause well...its mercer but its also not his first response to every problem. Basically this version of mercer has embraced scientific curiosity and is focused on using his abilities to catalog and learn more about genetics and the world around him. Not just to make himself stronger but because he want's to know, its me trying to give p1 mercer motivation overall :P
Personality from p one is to isolationist and willing to just...well just say fuck it and wander off at any time getting him to do something is...Very difficult for me, as he thinks/knows he's top dog and doesn't really have any motivation outside dana. While two is a sociopath that will...Well fuck off and kill everyone around him.
Anyways, I’d say Mercer in Inuyasha is a pretty interesting one (and probably a more original idea of a crossover than Fairy Tail), mainly due to the lack of any crossover fics about Inuyasha/Prototype. Though the lack of anything actually scientific in Inuyasha is going to stump the Mercer’s scientist side a lot (same thing for Fairy Tail as well).
As for RWBY, there are a lot of problems (especially ones that are noticeable in the RWBY canon) that could’ve been fixed from Mercer’s presence in Remnant (along with probably creating some new ones), hence why I have lots of ideas for it that I’ve went through with Pen. :P
I don't need your judgment Im in a writing mood got two thousand words on SOD, a thousand on THM and like five thousand on the steven universe piece.... :P
The lack of genetic/scientific growth could be turned into a fun challenge for mercer though as he uses his natural abilities and strategies to design counter measures to powerful magic...Hmmm Much fun there plus I can have alex going wtf over all the things that don't work/make sense. Well that's two votes for inuashaya Ill get around to it soon enough :P
Neither have I, most of what I know comes from speaking to others familiar with the series and the wiki. Its an odd series from what I've gathered, and even people who've watched/read it seem to agree its....Far from perfect, not helped by the fact the author died before he could really finish.
I do plan to contiue it and write it to completion, Ive simply lacked motivation recently, Ive got a over half the next chapter done (around 5k words written already) got a 7k word oneshot of steven universe nearly completely. Most of the intro to a prototype/rwby crossover written up and a few other idea lying around but my muse has become far to elusive recen

i know a guy who is very much a fan of the series, and he seems to sing its praises where he thinks it really shines
apparently the main girl wants to be a dominatrix or something
Really would love to discuss it with him at some point especially if he's familiar with the light novels. Ive heard some plainly odd things and while Im sure the series has it's moments, there's quite a few logical inconsistencies to my understanding, itd be great to have them cleared up or to simply discuss them.
To my knowledge she doesn't want to be a dominatrix (that'd be interesting if true though, just something I haven't heard of) She whips the protag to assert dominance and due to her insecurity mistrust, while it's played for laughs in the anime (And light novels to an extent) The light novels seem to paint this in a slightly more realistic unhealthy light.
Apeironaxim wrote: tbf, what story doesn't have inconsistencies?
Fair but when the explanation for a girl making a highly illegal love potion (Like the girl would be hanged if caught, its highly forbidden) is shes good with potions with no further explanation I draw some issue...:
Didn't he mention once strikes would need to be able to destroy city walls to harm him? Though I perfectly understand the want for feats, Im hoping we might get 7a with meteor fall...
However, nobody had said that in the prison camps which the Sorcerer King had liberated. Given his overwhelmingly potent magic ― which could sometimes wreck city walls in a single blast ― and the fact that he was the king of another nation, nobody would dare take their anger out on him.
Sorry i cant seem to find it, I could have sworn it was during the holy kingdom arc (Specifically a point where ainz let's himself get hit) but it doesn't seem to be there. I must be misremembering my deepest apologies.
True, unfortunately without an idea of how strong/large those city walls are not a massive help....
True the first run of the translation really left a sour taste in peoples mouth, which wasn't helped with the whole king of darkness debacle that came later, while I feel it's blown out of proportion I understand why some fans are so against the official translation despite not agreeing with it. Its just unfortunate it makes braines feat unquantifiable.
Random question what series would you like read an overlord crossover for?
While true their is another story sorta covering that and fates a powerful/complicated world Im not really willing to delve into. Also they have some levels of power that just won't work out as you mentioned. I mean ainz appearing in their world can only go a few ways, most likely I just see him holing up inside the tomb for the rest of eternity :P
I might eventually but Im pasting it onto earls wall :P
Causality manip resistance would be good, more potent mind hax resistance overall, matter manip resistance would also be excellent, resistance to power null of course. Pretty much any hax resistance will be a great add for him. Hax wise is harder, his innante death hax are already pretty potent and he has soul manip when that fails.
I have plans for wish upon a star in my other story
Id be interested in seing that as well, its such cool and powerful spell we never see. Id also really like to see ainz use dark wisdom atleast once. Im extremely curious as to how it works and more if the effects have changed since arriving in new world.
I could see causality manip coming up, though its unlikely.
Series I like? thats tough for me...I enjoy overlord of course, and I deeply enjoy prototype, though that has more to do with potential rather then what it is. I enjoy the hulk comics. I enjoyed steven universe despite it's many glaring issues. I usually write around one series I enjoy and another setting that seems interesting.
imagine how OP that would be, he just wishes for unlimited charges in his ring
I would immediately look for ways to make a wish that would ensure more wishes. If wishing for unlimited free charges in the ring wouldn't work, how about it recharges every so often? How about wishing for a structure that generates EXP at a solid rate to use when he eventually has to use his own to make the wish? So many possibilities
you could utilize Isekai Quartet, have him go to Konosuba or Saga of Tanya the Evil. Although i feel Tanya could work in the reverse too and still be good.
also, apparently illusion magic in Overlord can get to the "tricking the world itself" level, which was interesting to read
“Ahh, yes. For example, there are spells like 「Perfect Illusion」 which can defy all five senses. And beyond that, there are those who have refined their illusions to the utmost limit, who can use a certain skill once every few days to deceive the world itself.” An illusion that could deceive a world was beyond her capacity to imagine. “Ah, how exactly does that worldly illusion work?” “From what I know, it’s a spell that lets you rewrite any aspect of the world, I think. Well, simply put, using an illusion like that could even bring the dead back to life?” “Eh!? You’re talking about an illusion, right?” “Oh yes. An illusion which tricks the world — the ultimate secret of illusions. By deceiving the world itself, an illusion can be made real.”
True doesn't he sort of already have the whole gauntlets that stor exp he gave to mare?
I could imagine him creating a structure to drain exp actually, we know ress brings people back but it cost exp. We also know ainz can drain stats and even levels to buff himself, thus we know exp can be taken from living beings without killing them. What if ainz created a structure to passively drain experience from people who approached it he could set it up as an alter and have people pray to it. It could then store exp for his eventual use in rituals and exp draining spells.
He's a little much for the tanya setting overall and while it would be humerous to do....I don't feel confident enough in my knolwedge of the gods in tanya to do it justice. (More importantly the gods abilities aren't exactly the most impressive even in their own verse, they transport and reincarnate tanya but their actual powers aren't well defined enough for me to do anything with)
Konosuba while fun is just....Eh Its one Ive kept under consideration but I an only imagine ainz killing off their group then I have to deal with aqua coming back over and over to bother ainz. Though Ive had a solid laugh at ainz pissing off eris with his casual use of ressurection magic that doesn't involve her.
Amongst all those descended from the Gods, those who awaken [mezameta] the power of the Gods [kaminoryoku] are called the term God-kin [jinin]. Presently, there are two God-kin in the Theocracy. One is the Captain of the special military operation’s Black Scripture which Clementine used to belong to and the other is theTheocracy’s Head Priest [kuninoshinkannagadearu] There ability was an order of magnitude different, and in the case they are adorned in the arms left behind by the Gods [kamigami no nokoshita bugu], it is said they are individuals that can wreck/destroy [horoboseru] the continent.
Ive actually considered that and I think it would be quite funny, Having ainz as momon acting as some knightly hero, biggest issue I see is....Ainz outranks the verse by a absolutely stupid degree, physically only prime all might can outdo ainz and co physically.
Ainz grasp heart is stupidly better then nearly every quirk we've seen. Overhaul requires physical contact and the girl who can reverse people out of existence, needs time, physical proximity and...Well ainz resist ee and time manipulation... The few good hax either lack range or ainz already resist in some manner.
Now saying that I do think it has a lot of potential its just not an idea Im ready to start on yet.
ngl, i have a soft spot for reaction fics, even if 99% of them are horribly written
having Nazarick reacting to even just the anime would be a major development for them, seeing how Ainz isn't all knowing. There's no way they would betray him either, even knowing this, it's just not in their character.
Not only that, but it would create some good angst. Think about it, Ainz straight monologues to himself about how he's afraid of being abandoned if the NPCs suspect he isn't all-knowing, while the NPCs would realize this whole time they were just causing their amazing lord Ainz stress beyond belief
this isn't meant to be a suggestion to you btw, just me talking about something i like
Nothing wrong with him outranking the verse in fact thats why Im writing him in foz. Just thinking about the logic I have to work with there, ainz would still be incredibly cautios as he studies the nature of this new world. Ainz will also never run into the situation he did in new world with shalltear being taken control of, which will lead to a slightly different mind set. He won't find traces of players their to egg on his paranioa.
I understand why some people enjoy reaction fics but they've never gripped me personally, Ive always thought when reading one how Id rather see these characters in new situations rather then retreading the same ground we've already seen.
While the npcs reactions would be fascinating theirs good odds they wouldn't beleive it, I could very easily see them writing it off as an attempt to deceive them, or demiurge could view it as part of ainz master plan to have the npcs feel closer to him, to make them feel less inadequate. Especially later on in the series.
I doubt it would work on full immunities such as those possessed by the undead or nonliving entities, though I also think it should pierce more mundane resistances to death hax...Its a bit hard to judge
True, and they would have immunitity to such effects, thus the question would they resist ainz aura 5? Hmmmm its a difficult question to answer. On one hand it points to the fact ainz can pierce immunities using the staff...
I think their could be a definite argument their, though it wouldn't be the most solid as we can't clearly define the difference between skills and spells (Beyond the not requiring mana aspect). If someone resist death manip in general and ainz has his staff I feel we have very solid ground to claim ainz can pierce that defense.
We can dream...We can dream. honestly if even one of the hax ainz resisted with the world class item reached planetary range we could probably make a solid argument that all his resistances reach planetary scale.
Considering cure never attempts it against him and his soul breaker breath (Which he seems to deem as far more powerful hax) does nothing Im pretty sure its safe to assume it can't effect ainz. Then again its hard to judge...Ugh why can't the author just write in some good concrete feats for resistances?
Yeah not really their style, the slaine theocracy won't bother with anything other then downfall, the empire and kingdom are supremely lacking and the author doesn't seem to be planning to use the dragon lords which is our next best bet for feats.
Actually ainz does resist petrification on his profile, why wasn't that brought up in the discord vs ainz thread?
As do I at times, so far we have dragoo....and noone else, which is rather unfortunate. I do agree the final attack shouldn't be to different now if only we were allowed to use it though it doesn't help that shalltears defense and thus dura wasn't up to snuff without her armor. (And fire as you mentioned)
If your at the heart means you dont have to account for distance which yields far higher results, pretty sure we also don't really need to calc the whole surface area thing if someone is directly at the center of a blast but I could be misremebering.
even though Ainz didn't take damage from it due to a spell he cast, there is no way anyone could argue he would be oneshot by it, especially since it's 9th Tier and a weak one at that, so that could be useful
also he was at the heart of Fallen Down, so yknow, that would help
Unleashing the fury of that 9th tier spell meant that the surrounding buildings had all been swept away, and there was much more space all of a sudden.
That could not be helped. After all, this city had outlived its usefulness.
He could have widened the spell to try and catch CZ in the blast. However, Ainz was worried about the problems that might result from destroying too much of the city, so he had not done so.
If a massive downgrade were to happen, by description alone this seems like an 8-B feat, with maybe being 8-A by virtue of Ainz saying he didn't want to "destroy too much of the city". Also the buildings being "Swept away" sounds like V Frag, though I have no idea how that stuff works so i could be horrendously wrong
Fair Im not particularly worried about downgrades, partially due to how little it would effect ainz but also we should get some good feats from the holy kingdom arc and meteor fall. As for calcing that...Its not feasible without an idea of how many buildings were swept away and in what manner. Still with that description it would likely make solid support for 8 b along with scaling massively above the pleiedes.
Yeah and the doppel pleides started off a lower level to their real counter parts. Them being able to damage ainz is far more of a feat for aureole then anything else. Honestly aureole may be one of the most dangerous npcs when working in tandem with another, imagine what buffed shalltear would be like.
Severe doubt, seems more likely to be played for comedy to me, I can very easily see ainz moaning in agony over the eccentric over the top angst behavior created by his freinds I doubt it will become a real issue overall. Unless theirs some reason to think it would be more relevant?
Albedo and Nigredo had a conversation about their youngest sister Rubedo. Nigredo warned that Rubedo will one day bring a calamity to the Great Tomb of Nazarick, but Albedo replies that she would never do such a thing. In contrast to Nigredo's feelings about it, Albedo only sees Rubedo as an adorable younger sister who can cause no harm or trouble to Nazarick. However, with her position as an Overseer, Albedo decides to take Nigredo's warning and concerns into consideration despite how she feels toward the NPC
True but it wouldn't be the first time he's mentioned something only for it to never come up again (who ever the f ninya's master is, the dragon lords supposedly not being involved in any planned fights in the future ect) further....I have my doubts about much coming of this, can rubedo actually do anything against nazericks interest? How is she built? What does her coding say and command her to do? What the heck are stats/abilities like, whats her build. We know she's the strongest entity in nazerick but that doesn't tell us much.... And calamity doesn't really tell us much, it could be anything from going rouge, to destorying a floor.
Or it could be nigredo overacting, she's got some weirdness to her character as well... The three sisters are some of the characters we know the least about as they didn't exist in the web novel. Not saying we won't get some drama from her but the authors got a bit of a history of teasing things (Dragon emperor) and not utilizing them. Honestly my thoughts on this are its interesting but the author loves to give us a bunch of usless information at times and at other times be entirely bereft of detail...
I don't think so? Sorta doubt it would work considering cure didn't attempt it, ainz was nervous about it facing cure but we can't really take ainz nervousness as a sign of anything considering he's overly paranoid. Further his world class item probably protects him from such effects.
We can use the fact cure didn't bother as support but Im really the wrong person to ask on the specifics of the side story, he may have attempted it but I can't be sure. I deeply dislike the side story on the whole and to me it only exist for feats... My apologies.
How does transmutation that turns you to a stone statue differ from petrification? Or is it more it can turn you into anything and it just usually turns people to stone... Fair enough though if thats the case was just a bit perplexed lol
Eh I tried with cavalierly, checked out the first and twelfth episode (Don't ask) but...Its an underdog story (and my thoughts on those are well documented) its classic case of look at this totally determined character overcome everything because he's the main character and thus is special.
Further there are some classic anime themes like some weird vibes between him and his sister. (Apparently it's weirder in the light novel) Also the crap ikki does via pure skill bothers me deeply, at least in overlord they acknowledge what characters do is magic bull, even martial arts are treated as a warriors magic.
his backstory on his profile makes him sound like a mashup of a bunch of different tragic backstories, cliches and all
Befitting its F-Rank, Ikki has shown to have terrible luck. Most things will happen to unfavor him, more often than not giving him the worst possible outcome, as shown when he had to fight Shizuya Kirihara in the first round of the Selection Battles Arc; the World's Strongest Swordsman, Edelweiss during the attack of Akatsuki Academy; the previous Seven Stars Sword King, Yuudai Moroboshi; and against the former fourth rank, Iris Ascarid who was close to the Top in the World.
Should I go out on a whim and say he won these fights?
I think he lost to edel, who is consistently superior to him but not by a massive margin, she respects him ect. He learns sword techniques and styles at a glance and instantly can use them better then the people he saw use them.
Yeah technically his backstory is pretty unlucky dead mom His father abused him or something viewing him as a failure just like everyone else and he overcomes this via will and "Skill". He then gets the hot super powerful red head and his blue haired sister has some weird vibes as well.
Yeah, I mean its totally a normal skill to have, totally not a power, counts as a skill feat. I guess that bothers me even more then the genericness or the underdog plot (Which I hate) ikkis author insist everything he does is somehow related to skill. I love some overpowered bull characters but none of them claim what they do revolves around skill.
See its that argument that annoys the crap out of me, and the way the movement ability is described it should only function on humans as it takes advantage of patterns in human brains to accomplish it's perception manip. Yet earl will insist it works on everything because....Reasons. Further its not skill, its an ability.
Same with his hitting to induce sleep/unconsciousness, though I suppose it could be status effect inducement? Or perhaps mental manip? Either way it's not skill,
I think it was him physically beating him to death? Technically the old calc's only problem was it accounted for shalltears armor being destroyed (and assumed it was iron armor) the crater itself is still 7b
Ive heard some conflicting reports on that, his ability relies on destroying unnatural phenomenon like magical effects, but undead in overlord are natural beings, that occur without magic or outside intervention so theirs actually reason to doubt image breaker would work.
Yeah Id be up for that thread being redone, ainz isn't cocky enough to allow a human to rush him....
If image breaker works? may...Ye...N..Its a skill which throws a whole other layer of mess on this, image breaker should be potent enough to neg ainz attampts at magic but skills aren't the same, to the point magic resistance may not even effect them.
Shouldn't we give hamsuke some extra notes in her profile for the magic item that offers mind resistance and her armor? (I know the armors featless but it should still boost her dura all be it to an unknown extent.)
In addition, magical beasts were not particularly resistant to mind control. Hence, Ainz lent an item to Hamsuke which made her impervious to mind control, but he was still uneasy that someone might try to manipulate her through means other than magic. --volume 10
Also we really need to add (undeserved title) next to her wise king of the forest title.
Your usually the one to find small resistances let me have this moment :P
Im more interested in if hamsukes dura should have higher with armor? Sure we don't know how much better it makes her dura but it should still be a notable improvement for her. Then again I suppose we really haven't seen enough to say much on the subject...
So I looked over adam taurus from rwby as that's entomas next opponent, her largest advantage is both her versatility and her thunder bird talisman, in rwby elecricity bypasses aura (The thing that gives them their superhuman dura)
He can't absorb electicity its a major weakness of rwby characters, eletricity ignores their dura, his amps work in proportion to the amount of energy he intakes as I understand it, basically he amps off others striking him.
not only that, but Entoma didn't really seem effected by Evileye's other spells. Also, the only reason they won was because they were rotating out to use potions, and even then, they almost ran out of all their supply
True Im just thinking about how high above lakyus evileye is, Iirc didn't she fight blue rose and the old granny at the same time? And wasn't there a statment that she only lost due to not wanting to kill them/wanting comrades?
honestly, if i was to choose the AP for the Pleiades and those around that level, I would say they would be either 8-B or 8-A. They just haven't done a lot to warrant higher APs, and it doesn't seem like they would be much higher
True I feel the top tier cast may make it to tier 6 but it's gonna be a close call for them. (Thinking 7a is more likely). Leaning towards 8 b as well for the pleiades , but its hard to judge all we really have is evileye being massively above lakyus.
Question where'd you find the energy neccesarry to atomize a human?
Yeah the anime is decent (Do enjoy the animation...except the goats....) and it is how I discovered the light novels but they skip out on to much in my opinion. The amount of world buidling they've cut especially bugs me as I feel thats one of the authors strong suits.
Ngl though I do enjoy explaining things to anime only watchers...
Yeah thats whats thrown me through a loop as well, are they going to take more time with ten and eleven? (My hope) Or are they going to split 12 and 13? (Weird choice if so) Or do they plan to squeeze all four into a one season (Doubt it as there should be to much to realistically cover)
Ugh looking at the math makes my head ache for this one. Dogs luckily have a similar composition to humans when it comes to things like water content (80 precent) but the numbers make my head spin.....
Ugh not sure Im skilled enough to do it (First time I regret doing poorly in math) I suppose if I do manage over the next day or two Ill just post the relevant info in a comment on your blog, you can add the new value to the bottom and we can request dmua to take another look.
After this yes, I feel semi confident in her chances, tauras amps proportionally to damge he takes and his weakness to electricity goes poorly against entomas thunder bird talismans and summons. Still it should be a close match.
Shouldn't entoma have flight with that insect she used to carry her off at the end of the fight?
Out of nowhere and insect appeared which attached itself to the insect maid's back. Leaving behind a few "Yeeh Yeeh" Sounds she flew into the night --volume 6 (Don't know what the "Yeeh Yeeh" thing is...Might be a bad translation....
