Summary
Dr. Angela "Mercy" Ziegler is a peerless healer, brilliant scientist, and passionate peace campaigner.
Ziegler ascended to the position of chief of surgery at a prominent Swiss hospital before pioneering a breakthrough in the area of applied nanobiology that significantly enhanced the treatment of life-threatening diseases and injuries. Overwatch was drawn to Ziegler because of her skills.
Since warfare took her parents' life, Ziegler has been critical of the organization's aggressive approach to keeping the peace. She eventually realized that Overwatch provided her with the potential to save lives on a far bigger scale. She wanted to expand her job as Overwatch's medical research director while also helping people in need directly. The result was the Valkyrie rapid-response suit, which Ziegler piloted on many Overwatch missions.
Despite her contributions to Overwatch, she often quarreled with her superiors and the organization's overall goals. When Overwatch was disbanded, Ziegler devoted herself to assisting people impacted by war.
