Summary

Mantorok is an Ancient, and unlike the others, acts as a benevolent character of sorts in Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem.

Known as the "Corpse God" and "God of Chaos", its role is as the "Keeper of the Ancients" and is the one that banished the other three Ancients to exist beyond the veil, weakening them significantly, and has subtly aided Alex, her grandfather, and many other characters throughout the two millennia in order to stop their wicked machinations to enact Eternal Darkness upon the world.

However, it is hinted by Edward Roivas, that this is potentially a ploy for Mantorok to come back with no rivals to stop him, as he patiently waits for his return to full strength.
