Summary
Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka (魔法少女特殊戦あすか Mahou Shoujo Tokushusen Asuka) is a manga by Fukami Makoto and Tokiya Seigo.
The Human World was suddenly invaded by magical monsters coming from the Spirit World, a parallel world to ours. These monsters' use of subterfuge and magic made it almost impossible for conventional forces to defeat them. However, fairies from the Spirit World opposed to the monsters contacted several human girls, granting them the power to use magic and turning them into magical girls. 11 magical girls were created, who joined forces with the most elite soldiers in the world to fight the invading magic monsters. In the end, five of these magical girls managed to defeat the enemy leader in the final battle of what would later be called the Distonia War. These five became known as the Magical Five.
However, this was not a story where a happy ending and world peace is achieved simply by defeating the leader of the evil forces. 3 years have passed, and while peaceful contact between the Human World and the Spirit World is maintained, there's a rise in crimes committed using magic and in illegal contraband between worlds. While the number of magical girls has multiplied, this includes illegal magical girls working for criminal organizations. Asuka Otori, the former leader of the Magical Five, had retired as a magical girl after the final battle of the Distonia War. However, she's struggling to live a normal life, and when her friends are put into the line of fire she decides to transform into a magical girl once more to fight in this new battlefield of international crime syndicates, terrorism and black ops as a mysterious organization of magic users called Babel Brigade begins its secret plans.
