Summary
Macavity is a mysterious cat who enjoys terrorizing the Jellicle Cats. He's a dangerous criminal whose chased by the major police forces in the UK but is never caught due to simply vanishing from the scene of the crime. He kidnaps Old Deuteronomy to continue terrorizing the cats and returns to manipulate the Jellicle Cats shortly before he's chased off and Old Deuteronomy is returned with the help of Mr. Mistoffelees. It's implied he had a past relationship with Demeter, after which she was left in a state of constant paranoia.
Meanwhile, the 2019 movie version of Macavity is, while still similar to his original character, greatly expanded. Now he threatens the Jellicle Cats due to desiring the Jellicle Choice, as, according to his actor, he's on his last life and wants to be reborn with a new nine lives.
