Summary
Krohnen McDougall is a character who debuted in King of Fighters 2001 under his original alias, K9999. He initially participated in the 2001 tournament under NESTS's personal team, serving as a rival to K'. At the tournament's end, he and Ángel betrayed their teammates before defecting from NESTS and going on the lamb for years. He returns in King of Fighters XV, where he and Ángel recruit Kula Diamond (who ran away from the Ikari Warriors prior to the events of the game due to an argument with K') to form Team Krohnen in order to challenge K' once again and potentially win the cash prize.
Krohnen is the 9999th clone produced by NESTS using Kyo Kusanagi's DNA, leaving his genetic makeup incredibly unstable, granting him psychic powers. His original design was heavily inspired by Tetsuo Shima, a main character of Katsuhiro Otomo's manga series, Akira. He also holds a non-canonical rivalry with Kusanagi, as presented in King of Fighters 2002 and dialogue in KOF XV.

Intelligence: Above Average (Is a very skilled combatant, capable of matching blows with Kyo and K'. Is knowledgeable in the inner workings and engines of motorcycles, also being able to skillfully drive them. Used to work as a special agent for NESTS)
Weaknesses: Is incredibly arrogant, hot-tempered, and irritable as K9999. This is generally the same case for Krohnen, although to a lesser extent however, as Ángel acknowledges that he has somewhat matured with age in their team's ending of KOF XV. Dislikes using his full power mutated/drill arm as it physically pains him.

- "Shut Up!" / Spiral Smash: K9999/Krohnen turns his polymorphic arm into a spinning drill, thrusting it forward.

- "Get out of my sight!" / Blaze Thrower: K9999 swipes the air with his arm, creating a small burst of air/dust that travels a short distance across the ground. As Krohnen, the projectile is instead made of flames.
- "Split!" / Heat Shield: K9999/Krohnen quickly produces a shield of flames that protects him from attacks from the front and above, damaging anyone who comes into contact with it and even destroys oncoming projectiles.
- "Shatter!" / Strike Slash: K9999 jumps forward and attacks with a burst of fire. As Krohnen, he instead turns his polymorphic arm into a blade to slash the opponent with.

- "Moon..." / Infernal Prominence: K9999 slams the ground and produces a large dome-shaped psychic barrier protecting him from all sides, damaging anyone who comes into contact with it. As Krohnen, this barrier is produced out of flames similar to Heat Shield.
- "You get lost too!" / Fusion Blaster: Krohnen turns his polymorphic arm into a shotgun, firing five shots (or one stronger shot) at the opponent.
- "Help! My power... It's running wild!" / Calamity Overdrive: K9999 takes off his glove on his left arm, causing it to mutate and grow into a large mass of flesh and wires directed at the opponent, before shrinking back into his normal arm. As Krohnen, this attack exists rather as his arm becoming a massive mechanical drill claw.
