- Guilt: Joel carries a heavy burden of guilt for his past actions and decisions, which can affect his judgment and emotional well-being.
- Limited medical supplies: In a world where resources are scarce, Joel's injuries and health concerns can be difficult to treat effectively.
- Enemies: Joel has made many enemies throughout his journey, both infected and human, which can put him in constant danger.
- Attachment: Despite his efforts to maintain emotional distance, Joel's growing attachment to Ellie can be seen as a weakness, as it makes him vulnerable and may cloud his judgment in critical situations.
