Summary
Item Boxes (アイテムボックス, Aitemu Bokkusu. Also referred to as Video Monitors, Item Capsules, TVs, and simply Monitors) are commonplace objects littered throughout various locations across the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series. They have served as the traditional power-ups of the series since the very beginning, having taken on several different appearances and names since then, but their utilization has often remained the same.
By breaking open Item Boxes, the characters are able to either augment previous abilities or provide additional ones.
