Summary

Bruce Banner AKA Hulk is a primary protagonist from the Marvel vs. Capcom series. He is a scientist and former nuclear physicist who was in charge of a gamma radiation experiment for the government until a teenager, Rick Jones, wandered into the test area as the gamma bomb was about to explode. Banner jumped in and saved Rick, but was caught in an explosion and exposed with a large amount of radiation himself. This gave him the ability to change into a giant, raging green monster known as the Hulk, whose incredible power gets much stronger the angrier he becomes and his body can withstand even the most extreme conditions. Despite all of his anger, he is a gentle giant who never wants to harm innocent people and was even a founding member of the Avengers.

Following his marriage with Betty Ross, Thanos had wiped out half of the population with the Infinity Gems, prompting Hulk to join the heroes and villains of Earth to stop the Mad Titan, an effort the yielded success. Later, he would be forced to respond to the return of Apocalypse, fight alongside heroes from the Capcom Universe in response to Onslaught, aid in the defeat of Abyss as well as Galactus, and join the resistance against Ultron-Sigma when the latter threatened the merged worlds of Marvel and Capcom.

  • Impact Punch: Hulk steps forward and performs a powerful punch, which sends an opponent flying away. He can also charge it up for more damage, even causing them to bounce off of a wall.
  • Gut Punch: Hulk does a punch to the gut with his left fist.
  • Incredible Punch: While in the air, Hulk swings his fist vertically downwards to smack an opponent.
  • Avalanche Leap: After leaping against the wall, Hulk jumps off of it and flies horizontally forward.

  • Ground Throw: Hulk grabs the opponent with one hand and then slams them hard onto the ground either in-front of or behind himself.
  • Aerial Throw: Hulk grabs an aerial opponent with both hands and then slams them back into the ground with a downwards throw.

  • Gamma Wave: Originally known as Gamma Slam in Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter to Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes, Hulk lifts up a chunk from the ground and flips it, sending out a wave of flying rocks at the opponent. This can nullify projectiles against him.
  • Gamma Charge: Hulk charges forward in a shoulder tackle, which can be followed up with a second Gamma Charge that goes either forward, upwards or backwards.
  • Gamma Charge (Anti-Air): Same as the regular Gamma Charge attack, except that Hulk flies at an upwards angle to hit an airborne opponent above him with his head. He can then follow up with an another charge in a straight forward, upwards or downward angle.
  • Gamma Tornado: Also known as Gamma Throw, Hulk grabs the opponent by their head and then whirls them several times, before throwing away a far distance to the other side.
  • Gamma Lift: Hulk rips up part of the ground and then raises it over his head, before throwing forward as a projectile. However, he is unable to block while holding.
  • Gamma Slam: Same as the Gamma Lift attack, except that Hulk immediately tosses a projectile right after pulling up part of the ground and in a much quicker speed.

  • Gamma Crush: Hulk jumps high into space, grabbing and pulling a gigantic meteoroid as he then falls back down at an diagonal angle, crashing onto the opponent with it.
  • Gamma Tsunami: Originally called Gamma Wave, Hulk picks up the ground beneath him and then ruptures it, sending out a colossal wave of rocks towards the opponent, which reaches across the screen and does the most damage if they're directly in-front of it, rapidly hitting them.
  • Gamma Quake: Hulk pounds the ground with his fist, dropping down a barrage of large rocks from the sky, hitting an opponent in-front of him multiple times. In Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, he smashes the ground three times while erupting magma geysers.

  • Power Gem: Hulk can use the Power Gem to increase his attack damage for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants him a powerful attack with increased pushback force.
  • Time Gem: Hulk can use the Time Gem to increase his movement speed for a brief time, and in Marvel Super Heroes, make his attacks much faster and allow him to link them into combos more easily. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows him to move a set distance forward or backwards in the form of an instant dash that goes through the opponent and their attacks.
  • Reality Gem: Hulk can use the Reality Gem to create three different elemental projectiles across the screen; electric spheres, icicles and fire orbs. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version will make him launch a slow, homing energy burst with each use.
  • Space Gem: Hulk can use the Space Gem to increase his defense for a period of time, which reduces damage taken from his opponent's attacks. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version allows him to push the opponent forward or backwards, and the Infinity Storm version seals them in a large, square force cage which restricts their movement for a while.
  • Mind Gem: Hulk can use the Mind Gem to constantly refill his Hyper Combo gauge for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version provides him a special throw attack which instantly stuns an opponent if hit.
  • Soul Gem: Hulk can use the Soul Gem to increase/fill his health for a short period of time. In Infinite, the Infinity Surge version grants him a far-reaching energy attack which absorbs health off the opponent upon hit.
