Happy-chaos-strive
Let's say my goal was to create the strongest shield ever. How would I go about doing that? By creating the strongest sword. A sword justifies the existence of a shield. Humanity has always exhausted every possibility. That's the exact sort of drama I want to see.
~ Happy Chaos on his goal

Summary

Happy Chaos is a playable character in -Guilty Gear Strive- and the main antagonist of the game's story mode. Originally known as The Original, he was a genius philosopher who discovered the Backyard and developed the Theory of Magical Science during the late 20th century. He is responsible for most of the events occurring in the story of Guilty Gear, directly or otherwise. After creating the Universal Will, a supercomputer-like entity designed to find the means to bring peace to humanity, he found a young woman created by the Backyard in response to mankind's desire to survive during the Crusades. In order to prevent her raw power from endangering the Backyard and physical universe, he took half of her power and human desire, with what remained becoming I-No. The Universal Will then went rogue and betrayed the Original by fusing I-no's power with him, destroying his sanity and leaving him "pure" and uninterested in concepts such as morality. Since then, Chaos has been wandering the world, causing trouble in order to entertain himself and make sure that humanity never becomes boring.

Kreuz claims that Chaos is a far stronger magician than he, which means that his magic is beyond the twelve Divine Steps and immune to traditional countermagic), Homing Attack with Deus Ex Machina

Attack Potency: At least Large Planet level, likely higher (The most powerful magician in the universe, far beyond the likes of Asuka by his own admission. Possesses the same amount of power as base I-no), potentially up to Low Complex Multiverse level with preparations (He wrote the Tome of Origin, which allows one to control the higher dimension of the Backyard).

Speed: At least Relativistic+, likely higher (Casually evades attacks from Sol Badguy and Nagoriyuki)

Lifting Strength: Unknown

Striking Strength: Unknown, likely Large Planet level physically (Despite his power being described as relatively average without his magic, his physical strikes are still able to stagger the rest of the playable cast). Large Planet level via magic and weapons.

Standard Equipment: Crescent Moon (A large, futuristic revolver and a "heavenly gun", of which five exist throughout all dimensions), functioning replicas of Crescent Moon, and Lila Regen, his red convertible XAM-X-MAX car.

Intelligence: Supergenius (He had his IQ determined to be "immeasurable" in his youth. Developed the means to manipulate the higher-dimensional Backyard, creating the practice of magic as a result.)

Weaknesses: Extraordinarily mentally unstable, and just as likely to do something actively self-sabotaging as he is to do something in his best interests, as he claims he does not understand the idea of "motive". He will frequently structure his plans with exploitable weaknesses just to amuse himself. His right hand is a weak point and cannot regenerate.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Roll: A simple combat roll meant for dodging attacks.
  • Scapegoat: At the cost of a small fraction of his health, Chaos summons a double of himself, blocking a single attack and vanishing afterwards.
  • Curse: Chaos throws a non-damaging ball of magic at the opponent. Upon hit, a debuff is applied to the opponent allowing Chaos to more accurately shoot at the opponent.
  • Deus Ex Machina: Chaos fires countless bullets through a portal, with them exiting through multiple portals surrounding the opponent. The portals will always manage to surround the opponent, no matter the position they are relative to Chaos. His revolvers somehow always have full clip afterwards despite Chaos never reloading in the timeframe.
