This creature, according to the folklore of Odo Island, is called Godzilla.
~ Dr. Kyohei Yamane

Godzilla was baptized in the fire of the H-bomb and survived. What could kill it now?
~ Dr. Kyohei Yamane regarding what could kill Godzilla.

I can't believe that Godzilla was the last of its species. If nuclear testing continues, then someday, somewhere in the world... another Godzilla may appear.
~ Dr. Kyohei after Godzilla's demise.

Summary

Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira?) was designed by Teizo Toshimitsu and Akira Watanabe under Eiji Tsuburaya's supervision. Early on, Tanaka contemplated on having the monster be gorilla-like or whale-like in design due to the name "Gojira" (a combination of the Japanese words for gorilla which is gorira, and whale which is kujira) but eventually settled on a dinosaur-like design.

Japan is thrown into a panic after several ships explode and are sunk. At first, the authorities think its either underwater mines or underwater volcanic activity. The authorities soon head to Odo Island, close to where several of the ships were sunk. One night, something comes onshore and destroys several houses and kills several people. A later expedition to the island led by paleontologist Professor Kyōhei Yamane, his daughter Emiko, and young navy frogman Hideto Ogata (who also happens to be Emiko's lover, even though she is betrothed to Dr. Daisuke Serizawa) soon discover something more devastating than imagined in the form of a 164-foot-tall (50-meter-tall) monster whom the natives call Gojira.

Powers and Stats

Tier: At least 8-C, likely Low 7-B, 6-C via Vapor Breath

Name: Godzilla, King of the Monsters

Origin: Godzilla

Gender: Male

Age: At least 200 million years old, likely higher (Speculated by Dr. Yamane to be from the Jurassic Age)

Classification: Irradiated Prehistoric Amphibious Reptile

Powers and Abilities:

Resistance to:

Attack Potency: At least Building level+ physically (Godzilla can generate this much energy by moving[Statistics Values 1], he collapsed buildings by just walking into them[2]), likely Small City level (Said to be capable of destroying mountains with his tail[9], which should be this strong), Island level+ via Atomic Breath[Statistics Values 2]

Speed: At least Below Average Human (8.5 mph), possibly higher while swimming, Transonic reactions (He nearly struck down several F86F Saber Jets, which can fly at Mach 0.89, while in mid-flight[2])

Lifting Strength: Class M (Easily lifted a 25,267.9 ton bridge)

Striking Strength: At least Building level+, likely Small City level

Durability: Island level+ (Was at the epicenter of his own blast used to boil a section of the ocean. Can withstand his own Vapor Breath, as it is generated from nuclear and chemical reactions inside his body and is channelled from inside to outside and his dorsal fins can withstand the excess energy release when that occurs. He tanked 50 kiloVolts of electricity with no damage whatsoever, He is invulnerable to tanks, bullets and conventional military firepower in general.[2] Dr. Yamane stated that Godzilla was able to endure a nuclear warhead. Stated many other times to be able to endure a nuclear warhead)

Stamina: Superhuman (Has shown to be able to run and fight for long periods)

Range: Tens of Meters by virtue of his sheer size, Hundreds of Meters with his Atomic Breath

Standard Equipment: Teeth, claws and tail

Intelligence: Average (Godzilla has enough cognitive thought to know that humanity injured his family, destroyed his natural habitat and irradiated him, answering with destroying the closest human outpost (Japan) in revenge. Godzilla is said to have been measuring the depth of the Tokyo Bay in search of a place to hide himself)

Weaknesses: A relevant aspect of his anatomy is a "second brain", a ganglion that controls the agile movement of the lower body, presenting a vulnerability. Introduction of cadmium in his organism negatively impacts his internal energy generator, diminishing the efficiency of his stomach nuclear reactor which Godzilla converts energy to sustain his abilities. Godzilla is sensitive to light due to his nocturnal nature, making him enraged or confused when exposed to strong lights.

Feats:

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Atomic Breath (ほうしゃねっせん Hōsha Nessen?): Godzilla can exhale a powerful radioactive incandescent light (はくねつこう Hakunetsukō?), which takes the form of a white vapor that is hot enough to melt metal and also causes raging fires that can spread across entire city blocks.
