Summary
Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira ) was designed by Teizo Toshimitsu and Akira Watanabe under Eiji Tsuburaya's supervision. Early on, Tanaka contemplated on having the monster be gorilla-like or whale-like in design due to the name "Gojira" (a combination of the Japanese words for gorilla which is gorira, and whale which is kujira) but eventually settled on a dinosaur-like design.
Japan is thrown into a panic after several ships explode and are sunk. At first, the authorities think its either underwater mines or underwater volcanic activity. The authorities soon head to Odo Island, close to where several of the ships were sunk. One night, something comes onshore and destroys several houses and kills several people. A later expedition to the island led by paleontologist Professor Kyōhei Yamane, his daughter Emiko, and young navy frogman Hideto Ogata (who also happens to be Emiko's lover, even though she is betrothed to Dr. Daisuke Serizawa) soon discover something more devastating than imagined in the form of a 164-foot-tall (50-meter-tall) monster whom the natives call Gojira.
Powers and Stats
Tier: At least 8-C, likely Low 7-B, 6-B via Vapor Breath
Name: Godzilla, King of the Monsters
Origin: Godzilla
Gender: Male
Age: At least 200 million years old, likely higher (Speculated by Dr. Yamane to be from the Jurassic Age)
Classification: Irradiated prehistoric amphibious reptile
Powers and Abilities:
- Superhuman Physical Characteristics
- Large Size (Type 1 - Stands at 50 meters tall)
- Regeneration (At least Mid-Low)
- Longevity (Godzillas have extremely long life spans, being capable to live for millions of years[1])
- Enhanced Senses (Godzilla has enhanced hearing, vision, and smell. Godzilla can see and sense the dark depth of the ocean.[1] Godzilla has ears that can hear any distant sound. It has a magnetic band behind it like radar, so it can't get lost anywhere on earth. Has eyes that can see even at night)
- Bodily Weaponry (Conventional - Teeth, claws and his tail)
- Camouflage (In his native environment, his dark skin helps him blend in with the dark depth ocean)
- Adaptation (After being struck by an atomic bomb, Godzilla adapted to absorb the energy and use it[2])
- Self-Sustenance (Type 1 - Though technically a reptile and not an amphibian, Godzilla has an amphibious lifestyle. He spends half of his life in water and the other on land. Godzilla is capable of remaining completely submerged underwater for long periods of time, and it is suggested by Kyohei Yamane that he survived for millions of years living inside a deep underwater cavern.[2] This idea is supported by official artwork of the 1954 Godzilla living with other Godzillas underwater before a huge explosion destroys his habitat, killing his companions and burning and enraging Godzilla, and drawing him to the surface[1])
- Energy Manipulation, Projection & Absorption (The Atomic Breath is a focused beam of atomic energy which is typically neon blue in color. Ever since the original film, Godzilla has been capable of absorbing huge amounts of energy, often nuclear in nature.[2][3])
- Radioactivity (Godzilla absorbed nuclear energy from a hydrogen bomb explosion, which granted him the ability to emit high levels of radiation and fire his trademark Atomic Breath. Godzilla also has the capacity to emit various forms of energy. Godzilla is able to weaponize his own nuclear power in the form of his Atomic Breath or nuclear pulse, and constantly gives off strong nuclear radiation that is lethal to humans[2])
- Breath Attack (Godzilla's signature weapon is the distinctive atomic heat ray he fires from his mouth[2])
- Electricity Manipulation (Godzilla's standard Atomic Breath and his dorsal plates become surrounded by electricity before firing it[2])
- Explosion Manipulation (Many of his energy attacks cause explosions of some form[2])
- Light Manipulation (When charging his Atomic Breath Godzilla's dorsal fins glow ominously, and then he lets loose with a concentrated blast of radiation from his mouth[2])
- Smoke Manipulation & Heat Manipulation (Godzilla's Atomic Breath in this movie is a white vapor that is hot enough to melt metal and also causes raging fires that can spread across entire city blocks[2])
Resistance to:
Attack Potency: At least Building level+ physically (Godzilla can generate this much energy by moving[Statistics Values 1], he collapsed buildings by just walking into them[2]), likely Small City level (Said to be capable of destroying mountains with his tail[4], which should be this strong), Country level via Atomic Breath[Statistics Values 2]
Speed: At least Below Average Human (8.5 mph), possibly higher while swimming, Transonic reactions (He nearly struck down several F86F Saber Jets, which can fly at Mach 0.89, while in mid-flight[2])
Lifting Strength: Class M (Easily lifted a 25,267.9 ton bridge)
Striking Strength: At least Building level+, likely Small City level
Durability: At least Town level (He tanked 50 kiloVolts of electricity with no damage whatsoever, He is invulnerable to tanks, bullets and conventional military firepower in general.[2] Dr. Yamane stated that Godzilla was able to endure a nuclear warhead. Stated many other times to be able to endure a nuclear warhead), likely Small City level
Stamina: Superhuman (Has shown to be able to run and fight for long periods)
Range: Tens of Metres by virtue of his sheer size, Hundreds of Meters with his Atomic Breath
Standard Equipment: Teeth, claws and tail
Intelligence: Average (Godzilla has enough cognitive thought to know that humanity injured his family, destroyed his natural habitat and irradiated him, answering with destroying the closest human outpost (Japan) in revenge[1])
Weaknesses: None notable
Notable Attacks and Techniques:
- Atomic Breath (放射熱線 Hōsha Nessen ): Godzilla can exhale a powerful radioactive incandescent light (白熱光 Hakunetsukō ), which takes the form of a white vapor that is hot enough to melt metal and also causes raging fires that can spread across entire city blocks.
