| ~ Garlic Jr. gaining immortality[1] |
Summary
An alien whose father was in the running for the title of the God of Earth. He lost to Kami and tried to take it by force but was defeated and thrown into the Dead Zone. Garlic Jr. later comes to exact his revenge for this, firstly gaining immortality via the Dragon Balls (prior to Future Zamasu's debut in Dragon Ball Super, 16 years after Garlic Jr.'s debut, he held the distinction of being the only Dragon Ball villain to ever achieve this, canon or otherwise), then trying to kill Kami. He has to deal with Goku and Piccolo first, and winds up falling to his own attack, the Dead Zone. He later comes back when a powerful star manages to free him, whereupon he tries to take over the Earth with the Black Water Mist that turns anyone exposed to it into mindless, raving, vampire-like beings. Gohan, Piccolo, and Krillin are the only ones left not exposed to the mist and once again do battle with him, where he once more falls to his Dead Zone attack.

Speed: Massively FTL+, lower with Gigantification (Despite his reduced speed and mobility,[10] initially blitzed both Piccolo and Goku and managed to keep up with them even after they removed their weighted clothing[1]) | Massively FTL+ (Evaded a punch from Gohan with ease[12]), lower with Gigantification (Still managed to keep up with Piccolo despite his reduced speed[10])

Intelligence: Gifted (Skilled in hand-to-hand combat, having easily overwhelmed the likes of Kami in battle[1], casually dispatched of Krillin,[13] and would certainly boast greater combative prowess in comparison to the Spice Boys. Can control and summon the Dead Zone, something even vastly more powerful beings cannot do due to lack of knowledge of it even existing let alone how to control it. Led his own groups of henchmen in both of his appearances. He is one of only two antagonists in the series to ever be successful in achieving immortality. Infiltrated the Lookout and used the Black Water Mist to enslave everyone on Earth while also keeping Kami and Popo alive so he could use them as hostages, however, he can be reckless, forgetful, prone to making bad decisions and failing to learn from his mistakes. For example, he attempted to kill Piccolo and Kami before using the Dragon Balls, forgetting that doing so would render the balls inert. Tried to use the Dead Zone to defeat the heroes when, given his immortality, he could have simply outlasted them through attrition)
Weaknesses: If he opens the Dead Zone, he can be sucked in and trapped by his own attack if he loses his balance from being attacked or is distracted.[1] Piccolo believed that complete physical destruction might kill him.[5] The destruction of the Makyo Star will render him powerless.[15]
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
Garlic Jr. is a Makyan, the demonic native race of the Makyo Star, an ominous evil red rogue planet. While their features vary, their most defining characteristics are pointed ears and fangs.
- Makyo Star Empowerment: Due to its natural Dark Energy, The Makyo Star acts as the Makyan's race source of power. It empowers the demonic Makyans and heals their injuries.
- Gigantification: A technique where their dormant power is raised many tens of times through Planet Makyo's influence. Most Makyans can only take this form when the Makyo Star is nearby, but some possess the capability to use it by themselves. This form can only be maintained so long as the Makyo Star is still in existence, as shortly after Gohan destroyed the Makyo Star, Garlic Jr. ended up shriveling to a decrepit form before being sucked back in the Dead Zone.
The fighting power and life force of a martial artist, a tangible energy derived from the user's vigor, courage, and mind. It can be used in several ways, such as to surpass the limits of one's body to greatly increase in strength, and it can be fired as blasts of energy or used to create defensive barriers. It acts as the source of Garlic Jr.'s incredible power and abilities.
- Darkness Eye Beam: Garlic Jr can shoot heat-like beams out of his eyes. The potency of the Eye Beam technique varies, but the majority of them are extremely quick, able to nullify weak attacks, as well as cripple opponents and damage other objects.
- Death Impact: A large energy wave that Garlic Jr. fires from his hand at the opponent.
- Belly Blast: A variation of the Death Impact used by Garlic Jr. in his transformed state. He thrusts his chest forward and releases a massive beam from his torso.
- Sealed Light Beam: Garlic Jr. puts his hands out and fires rings of energy that can paralyze and shrink an opponent before capturing them in small energy spheres. If the spheres are broken by another opponent, the person will be freed and regain their size and power. However, Garlic Jr. himself can kill whoever is trapped by destroying it.
- Dead Zone: Garlic Jr. can open a large pseudo-black hole attack that will suck anything in its path into oblivion. However, if he is distracted or attacked, he can be sucked into his own attack. This was the cause of Garlic Jr.'s downfall in both of his appearances.
Notes:
- The statistics of Dragon Ball GT/Movie characters are clearly part of a separate continuity, and as such tend to differ greatly from the current canon.
- Garlic Jr. himself did not actually get stronger in the Garlic Jr. Saga. His increase in power came specifically from the Makyo Star. The closer it gets to him, the more powerful he becomes.
