Summary
Undertale (also stylized as UnderTale or UNDERTALE) is a role-playing game developed and published by indie developer Toby Fox.
In Undertale, players control a human child who has climbed Mt. Ebott and fallen into the Underground: a large, secluded region underneath the surface of the Earth separated by a magic barrier. The inhabitants of the Underground are the monsters, a diverse group of non-humans who were banished there after a great war with the humans. A notable feature of the game is the degree to which your actions affect the world around you; practically all possible choices have an effect. A related game called Deltarune is in the works.
Power of the Verse
Undertale is a decently strong verse, being far stronger than one would expect at first glance. The general description of capabilities of the verse are as follows.
- The first monsters Frisk encounters on their journey, such as the ones in Ruins and Snowdin, are around Wall level, being able to hurt Frisk who was capable of surviving a large fall into the Underground. As Frisk goes deeper into the underground, they will encounter monsters around Small Building level, which seems to be the cap on how strong a monster can naturally be. However, monsters can achieve much higher if they obtain the power of Determination. Due to humans being able to naturally produce Determination, they are naturally much stronger than monsters, reaching up to Multi-City Block level with enough Determination. At the peak of the verse, characters are capable of affecting the entire setting of the game, reaching Multiverse level.
- In terms of speed, the characters usually vary from Subsonic+ to Hypersonic, with Frisk being able to dodge things such as lighting and meteors, characters like Asgore seemingly upscale from these speed feats. Frisk can boost their speed even moreso with items such as the sea tea, reaching Hypersonic+. With the power of Determination, characters can reach Immeasurable, with empowered DT users like Frisk being able to outrun an entire timeline being consumed.
- In terms of remarkable abilities, monsters are able to utilize Non-Physical Interaction, Soul Manipulation, Limited Durability Negation, and Inorganic Physiology. Certain DT-infused monsters, more specifically the Amalgamates, have Invulnerability, Supernatural Willpower, Regeneration (High-Mid), and Immortality (Type 2 and 3). Humans have less magical abilities, but they are still capable of Sealing and Forcefield Creation, Supernatural Willpower, and have limited Invulnerability. Any creature with significant enough Determination can gain control of the timeline, granting Time Manipulation and Acausality (Type 1), although with enough DT they can achieve Immortality (Type 4) and Resurrection (Low-Godly), among others.

The Check Stats in Undertale are canon due to them being referenced in-verse from multiple characters, and thus being viable for scaling.
- ATK/DEF values from 0 to 17 are rated as 9-B due to Frisk being able to tank the explosion of Undyne's oven while having 0 DEF.
- ATK/DEF values from 18 and up are rated as 9-A due to Papyrus, who, despite having 20 ATK, is still called very strong from Undyne, who has 50 ATK in her base form, thus stronger than Mettaton EX, who has 47 ATK and can kick at Supersonic speeds. Said downscaling is also shown from Undyne herself who has only 20 DEF and can tank well attacks from a Frisk who can take her hits, Muffet who can take blows on a similar degree and has 38.8 ATK and 18.8 DEF, and Woshua who has 18 ATK and can fight alongside Aaron who has 24 ATK.
- The full power of a single human SOUL is rated as 8-A due to it containing enough power to match the entire Underground population.
