GeraltRender2hr
People"—Geralt turned his head—"like to invent monsters and monstrosities. Then they seem less monstrous themselves. When they get blind-drunk, cheat, steal, beat their wives, starve an older woman, when they kill a trapped fox with an axe, or riddle the last existing unicorn with arrows, they like to think that the Bane entering cottages at daybreak is more monstrous than they are. They feel better then. They find it easier to live.

Geralt witcher2

Behold our hero: subjected to mutations and rigorous sword and sorcery training as a child, he has become a superhuman monster slayer. Always penniless and often disdained by those whom he protects, he wanders the world seeking work. Fate has little mercy for him, piling obstacles in his way, yet he trudges on. He has more scruples than a beggaring bum has fleas. Doubts haunt him even when a band of ruffians, knives drawn, approaches him on the highway. Is he a good man? I do not think so. Does he try to maintain his humanity? I believe he does.

You must know that Geralt of Rivia died once already, or at least everyone thought him dead. During a massacre in Rivia, he sought to defend non-humans and fell to overwhelming odds. Placed in a boat, he floated into the mist, into a realm where he finally found peace, but not for long. Because of forces mentioned later, Geralt returned just in time to defend the witchers' ancient home fortress, and then embarked on a mission to recover the secrets stolen from it. Along the way, he took part in a Scoia'tael uprising, shattered a powerful criminal organization, and killed the Grand Master of the Order of the Flaming Rose. All the while, his fame as a lover grew. Well, that's Geralt for you. As if all this wasn't enough, he then foiled the attempted assassination of King Foltest of Temeria and became one of the monarch's most trusted men.

Geralt witcher 1

A book entitled "The Rivian Pogrom" claims that Geralt, known also as the White Wolf, died during a massacre of non-humans. The pogrom took place in the city of Rivia just after the second war with Nilfgaard. Geralt was killed by an angry mob when he tried to defend the oppressed. The sorceress Triss Merigold and the dwarf Zoltan Chivay witnessed his death. The witcher's body was never found.

The bard Dandelion recounts the adventures of the witcher Geralt in his ballads. After reading them, one may conclude that the White Wolf was the most famous witcher of his time. He actively participated in many historical events, such as the mage rebellion on Thanedd Island. Dandelion's poems are mostly devoted to Geralt's fights against monsters, the numerous romantic entanglements for which he is famous, and to his love for a certain sorceress.

Some years ago, Geralt of Rivia came to King Foltest's court in search of work. He obtained a contract to free the monarch's daughter Adda from a spell which had turned her into a striga or to kill her if all else failed. The witcher managed to free the girl from the spell, and discovered that one of the courtiers had been responsible for the curse.

Summary

Geralt of Rivia (Polish: Geralt z Rivii) is a witcher and the main protagonist of The Witcher book series by Andrzej Sapkowski and the video game series that serve as the sequel to the books, The Witcher, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Like all witchers, Geralt is a professional monster hunter for hire. He possesses supernatural abilities and is a master swordsman. After surviving the Trial of the Grasses, Geralt exhibited unusual tolerance for the mutagens that grant witchers their abilities. Accordingly, Geralt was subjected to further experimental mutagens, which rendered his hair white and may have given him higher speed, reflexes, strength, and stamina than his fellow witchers.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 8-C, higher with Aard, even higher with potions/decoctions | 8-C, High 8-C with Euphoria and Bloodbath, higher with Aard

Key: The Witcher 1-3 | Blood and Wine DLC

Name: Geralt of Rivia, White Wolf (Gwynbleidd in the Elder Speech), The Butcher of Blaviken

Origin: The Witcher

Gender: Male

Age: Unknown, at least 90 years old

Classification: Mutated Human, Witcher

Powers and Abilities:

Base Geralt:

With bombs:

With potions and oils:

With optional weapons:

  • Disease Manipulation (Witchers have a very high resistance, if not practicality immune to all known diseases)
  • Mind Manipulation (It was stated that witchers cannot be bewitched by a mage, and they're proven to be highly resistant to psionic spells. It took a mage half an hour to take complete control of a witchers mind)
  • Poison Manipulation and Acid Manipulation (Witchers are stated to be immune to poison, with only few being able to harm them. His mutated body quickly manages to neutralize the harmful alkaloids)
  • Extremely high pain tolerance (Geralt after being cut many times or having his blood sucked by Unseen Elder isn't showing any signs of suffering. Also he completely ignored slice on his chest and witchers overall are known to have abnormal pain resistance)
  • Limited Resistance to Magic (As Yennefer stated in The Last Wish, Geralt has "quite a bit of resistance to magic", however it's unknown what specific magic she has meant)
  • Ice Manipulation, Heat Manipulation and Fire Manipulation (As said in Kiyan questline in the Laboratory Notebook, the Kiyan witcher was subjected to inhumane experiments "The subject has been tortured, poisoned, burnt, frozen, starved and dehydrated, and despite it all his body continues to function", which Geralt scales to)
  • With potions:

Attack Potency: Building level+ (Could easily fight against and harm Saskia, who can casually destroy gigantic castle walls with just her hands. Fought against and defeated the Kayran, which could shatter ships and massive bridge pillars with a single swing from its tentacles. Easily defeated Savolla, who casually blew up a wall with a single blast. He can also trade blows with those who can hurt him and can harm himself), higher with Aard (Consistently portrayed as superior at full power to a witcher's own physical strength), even higher with potions (Potions make Geralt far stronger than his base form) | Building level+ (At least as strong as before), Large Building level+ with Euphoria (Euphoria increases Geralt's strength by 242.25% or over 3.4x that of his base the more he gets poisoned with potions) and Bloodbath (Bloodbath increases his attacking strength by 250% or by 3.5x), higher with Aard (Even stronger than before)

Speed: Subsonic movement speed (Can dash so fast that he leaves black, unrecognizable blurs behind. Much faster than animals like wolves and large bears and most speedy monsters, like werewolves. Also faster than Cat School witchers that can also appear as a blur, and elves who can do the same) with Massively Hypersonic+ combat speed and reactions (Regularly fights against and consistently keeps up with enemies that can use natural lightning to attack, like the Djinn, an Air Elemental which can manipulate entire storms with ease and also manipulate and generate natural lightning, and Geralt can move away from its lightning attacks and parry them with his sword at close range, though at the cost of getting greatly staggered. Though outclassed, he could somewhat keep up with Vilgefortz, who could easily deflect Yennefer's lightning attacks several times during their fight, and Geralt even dodge Vilgefortz's lightning "just in time"), higher with potions

Lifting Strength: At least Class 5 (Can wrestle with rock trolls who have boulders on their back. Could block Imlerith's mace while weakened, and later lift it to crush his skull), possibly Class 25 (Can lift a portion of a dragon's body with a single arm, could stop a giant creature while it was sprinting), higher with decoctions (Can lift more than usual with Fiend decoction. Can shrug off blows that would normally stagger him and is only staggered when he would normally be knocked down with Chort decoction)

Striking Strength: Building level+ (Can easily harm Savolla with his attacks. Can easily beat rock trolls in a fistfight, as well as large bears. Can hit someone with a sword so hard that they are knocked to their knees while blocking) | Building level+, Large Building level+ with Euphoria and Bloodbath

Durability: Building level+ (Endured a brutal onslaught of attacks from Savolla. Can also take hits from dragons. Also took hits from the Kayran, which can destroy massive stone bridge pillars and shatter ships with a single swing from its tentacles, with minimal damage. Also withstood lightning strikes from the Djinn with minimal damage), higher with Quen (Able to tank what would otherwise be lethal attacks and magical attacks from the likes of Triss and Eredin that can one-shot his opponents) | Building level+ (As durable as before), Large Building level+ with Mutated Skin (Can withstand the force of his own attacks with Euphoria, which increases signs and strength by 3.4225x times), higher with Quen

Stamina: Superhuman. Able to keep fighting with many opponents at once and can still cast signs even while poisoned by potions and damaged for a long time. Has a very high tolerance for pain that lets him keep fighting, ignoring his wounds, and can survive for a long time with wounds that would kill a normal man. Went through rigorous swordsmanship training in Kaer Morhen and survived the Trial of the Grasses. Eskel explains that only four out of ten children usually survive it. Fought for a long time during the Battle of Kaer Morhen and even after this, he wasn't showing any signs of being tired. Could also act for weeks during the war with little to no rest. Has traveled for several decades to hunt monsters. Scales to a witcher named Kiyan, who was forced to participate in a mage's experiment that tested how much physical and mental endurance witchers have, even though he was mentally broken and didn't eat or drink anything in years, he could still fight with Geralt.

Range: Standard melee range with fists, extended melee range with his swords, several meters with signs and bombs, dozens of meters with crossbows and Axii.

Intelligence: Gifted. Incredibly skilled monster hunter and alchemist with many decades of experience trained and carefully developed from birth for combat and missions. He was trained by Vesemir, a witcher with over a century of experience at the time. As a witcher, Geralt is highly knowledgeable about the anatomy and weaknesses of humans and monsters. He is also a wise individual, intelligent in handling social situations and bargaining. Could also find a way to win a game with Gaunter O'Dimm and find out where to find him in his world with his own rules to save Olgierd von Everec. Even as a younger man, Geralt has proved to be a talented monster hunter, developing his abilities and wisdom about the world and has always been shown to learn from his mistakes. Across his adventure, Geralt has met and dealt with hundreds of leaders, generals, kings, monarchs et cetera. Despite not being much into politics, he knows more about it than average witchers. He took parts in many diplomatic situations and has assisted a few kings/queens like Foltest and Meve during their battles. As a monster hunter, and one of the most experienced and skilled at that, Geralt knows possibly every genre of monsters in his own world, ranging from wraiths, spirits, vampires, werewolves, succubi, elementals, insectoids, necrophages to even genies like Djinns and many more. Not only that, but he also had fought with and defeated countless powerful sorcerers, warriors with unique abilities, and vastly intelligent humanoids, and has fought with a plethora of men at once plenty of times (for example, when he fought with the army of Wild Hunt with his fellow witchers and stalemated them and infiltrated the Nilfgaardian base in TW2 during the war. Yet, it's only a small chunk of impressive feats he has done in the series). He has extensive knowledge about alchemy (mainly for creating potions and oils for each battle he goes into), lifting various curses, and most importantly, weapon usage (As every witcher not only must know the art of swordplay, which is the main strength of Geralt, but also many other weapons, like battleaxes, picks, crossbows or slingshots). His swordsmanship is very versatile, as he is like a "dancer" in battle with many developed sword styles. Witchers use unique style, commonly named "spins, pirouettes and feints", for example shown here, here and here, and never dares to lose his skill by training in spare time. This level of skill, combined with his superhuman speed, strength, agility, and reflexes, is marvelously effective in combat and often allowed him to defeat his enemies, even if they were comparable or even superior physically. Geralt has also shown to be a quite decent leader during Battle for the Bridge on the Yaruga and an excellent and precise detective many times in the series when he needed to find traces of monsters to find and kill them, most notably during Mandragora Party, where he was able to correctly deduce the whole event, using only what was left of the room, such as broken mirrors, bloodstains on the floor and walls, positions of objects (which should not be in such a position) and objects left in random places.

Standard Tactics: Geralt's strategy and fighting style heavily depend on what type of opponent he is fighting against and what his opponent is using against him. This includes the choice of his Signs, potions, oils, and elixirs according to his situation. This means that Geralt is adapting to his opponents, essentially in such ways:

    • Humans and Warrior type enemies: Geralt usually begins a fight against this type of opponent by using his steel sword. Depending on the situation, Geralt kills his opponent at his first opportunity. If he needs any information or favor, he tries to defeat that enemy without killing him. Against normal humans, he rarely uses his Signs (If he already uses his Signs against humans, his most common choice are Aard and Igni signs, and if he doesn't want to fight his opponent or specifically sneak to him, Axii, but it mainly happens in regular conversations), unless such an opponent has abilities that any ordinary human would not have, such as magic or supernatural powers. The same applies to his potions.
    • Monsters and enemies with supernatural powers: Against this type of enemy, Geralt usually uses his witcher signs. His favorite sign and the one that he uses most is Aard, a telekinetic blast that Geralt emanates from his hand, attacking only one target, or several targets at the same time in one direction (Though after several upgrades, it's omnidirectional). Being superior to Geralt's physical strength, Aard can stun and unbalance enemies superior to himself physically. Geralt primarily uses potions and oils against this type of enemy if he has the preparation, though he also has some of them in his standard equipment. Depending on Geralt's prior knowledge, he can use potions and oils that can put him at an advantage in a fight. If Geralt does not have any preparation or prior knowledge, he usually uses his standard potions, like Thunderbolt and Swallow. He also uses bombs, and depending on Geralt's prior knowledge, his choice of bombs changes. The default bombs he possesses are Samum and Dimeritium bombs, which he uses to destroy nests of monsters (with the former) and make their supernatural abilities useless for some time (with the latter).
    • Opponents with AoE/ranged attacks: Against characters starting with/using more often than not ranged attacks that affect a big area, Geralt usually starts with Quen sign to protect himself from those attacks, for example as seen here or here. Geralt will try to shorten the distance between his opponent and him so that he can apply his standard fighting style, including his swordsmanship and signs. While activated, Quen will protect Geralt from attacks that go much beyond his normal durability or are too powerful/unknown to just dodge them, as well as attacks from fire, ice, acid, and poison, as he wouldn't let any unknown attack hit him. Geralt usually uses his crossbow against them, with bolts possessing unique abilities, such as explosive ones, poisonous, or made of silver, to deal extensive damage to monsters. With preparation and prior knowledge, Geralt may use his potions and other equipment against them.

Weaknesses: Can only use a small number of signs consecutively before needing to recharge. Taking too many potions will poison Geralt to death (Though Heightened Tolerance somewhat negates this by stopping his health from decreasing, though he will still suffer from other Toxicity effects). Lethal injuries that would otherwise kill a man take him months to recover. Is quite honorable in battle. | Euphoria mutation only works once Geralt starts to poison himself more with potions. Bloodbath requires Geralt to constantly keep hitting his enemies to reach its full potential and will only last as long as Geralt keeps fighting and doesn't get hit.

    Standard/Optional Equipment:

    • Grapeshot: Inflicts shrapnel damage to foes within its explosion radius. Deals a small amount of fire damage.
    • Moon Dust: Contains silver splinters that temporarily prevent monsters from regenerating and nullify intangibility of some monsters
    • Northern Wind: Freezes foes and the surrounding area. Blows landed on frozen foes deal additional damage.
    • Dimeritium bomb: Releases a cloud of dimeritium cloud that blocks magic and monsters' magic abilities.
    • Dancing Star: Produces a fiery explosion that ignites the surrounding area.
    • Red haze: The reddish haze emitted by this bomb upon detonation causes hallucinations and aggression, leading foes who inhale the gas to fight each other.
    • Stenchbulb: Upon detonation, it releases a cloud of gas with an odor so foul that not even necrophages can resist it
    • Samum: Blinds opponents within its explosion radius.
    • Devil's Puffball: Releases a cloud of poison when detonated.
    • Dragon's Dream: Releases a cloud of gas that explodes when ignited.
    • King and Queen: Upon detonation, this bomb magically evokes fear in the heart of opponents.
    • Zerrikanian Sun: Upon detonation, this bomb releases a flash of light, blinding all nearby opponents.

    • Swallow: Swallow significantly increases the health regeneration of the witcher. Furthermore, it has no side effects.
    • Thunderbolt: The Thunderbolt potion augments muscle power and thus damage dealt using a sword. As simple as it is practical, the brew is a more powerful version of the Rook potion. Unfortunately, Thunderbolt may cause weaker muscle fibers to rupture, decreasing both Vitality and its regeneration. These side effects can be alleviated by taking the Swallow potion.
    • Tawny Owl: Tawny Owl speeds up the regeneration of Stamina. After consuming it, the witcher can parry monsters' blows and cast Signs more often. The potion is weaker than Lapwing, but generates no side effects.
    • Blizzard: Blizzard is one of the most potent witchers' potions; it improves reflexes and reaction time, allowing a witcher to better parry and evade attacks. It slows down the perception of time, making everything else slower. It is most helpful against groups of enemies and monsters that move fast or teleport, such as wraiths and various types of vampires.
    • Black Blood: Black Blood turns imbiber's blood into poison; blood becomes lethal to monsters who drink it.
    • Petri's Philter: Increases Signs Effectiveness and Damage.
    • Golden Oriole: Golden Oriole, one of the best-known witcher potions, increases resistance to special attacks, such as Poisoning, Incineration, and Bleeding. The brew also negates the side effects of the Lapwing and Brock potions while producing no side effects. Additionally, it turns poisons into a healing brew which regenerates damage taken by the witcher
    • Cat: Cat is one of the potions witchers use most often. After imbibing it, the witcher can see in total darkness and will avoid being surprised by any nocturnal creatures. The potion allows its user to see both living creatures and those made of inanimate matter, even through walls.
    • White Honey: White Honey strongly stimulates the production of purifying enzymes in witchers' mutated bodies. Thus, it frees their bodies of the effects of toxicity, though it simultaneously nullifies the beneficial effects of any potions previously consumed. White Honey does not alleviate the effects of common venoms and poisons.

    • Gadwall: Gadwall helps a witcher's mutated body regenerate much faster than usual. Gadwall is a more potent version of the Swallow potion. As Gadwall courses through the veins, it burdens a witcher's body, decreasing their offensive and defensive capabilities at an accelerated rate. These side effects can be reduced by drinking the Rook potion.
    • Wolf: Witchers who drink the Wolf potion are more agile during fights. Their special attacks, like those causing poisoning or heavy bleeding, are more accurate and effective. The potion has no known side effects. When imbibed, the brew can cancel the side effects of the Virga potion.
    • Rook: Rook is especially popular among witchers who believe that killing monsters quickly is their best defense. This potion increases muscular power, amplifying offensive capability in close combat. It is inferior to Thunderbolt in terms of power amplification but offers less intoxication.
    • Tiara: This special potion affects the witcher's skeleton, hardening bones and strengthening tendons. Each time the witcher parries an opponent's blow under the potion's influence, he loses less Vigor than he would had he not consumed a dose of Tiara. The catch, however, is that stronger bones and joints denote stiffer limbs and weaker soft tissue. The witcher strikes with less confidence, so the sword damage he deals with is reduced. His Durability also declines.
    • Stammelford's philtre: This brew is readily used by witchers who rely on magic, since it augments the intensity of signs, the damage done by the Igni, the impact of the Aard, the defenses of the Quen, and so on. Unfortunately, the potion taps the witcher's Vitality for its power, thus reducing it. Witchers compensate for this loss by consuming the Swallow potion.
    • Lapwing: Just as Gadwall regenerates Vitality slowly but consistently, Lapwing restores Stamina more easily. The potion's effect is more potent than that of Tawny Owl, but it produces some side effects. Lapwing intensely weakens the body, reducing the witcher's Vitality and resistance. To strengthen themselves, witchers take Golden Oriole and Swallow together with Lapwing.
    • Virga: Virga is favored by witchers who assign greater importance to safety than to mounting bold attacks. The brew increases the witcher's resistance, rendering him less vulnerable to monsters' special attacks, including Poisoning, Incineration, and Bleeding. Virga is stronger than Golden Oriole, but it has some side effects. When focusing on defense, the witcher is limited in his ability to execute subtle attacks. Thus, the witcher cannot employ tactics to which he has become more resistant, be it Poisoning, Incineration, or oils that increase Bleeding. The Wolf potion can be used to limit this side effect.
    • Bindweed: Bindweed was created to counter monsters that employ acid as a weapon. Witchers also call it 'swamp potion', because monsters that spit acid or have caustic blood are most often found in swamps.
    • Kiss: This potion affects witchers' mutated bodies by forcing their blood to congeal almost instantaneously. It is often consumed before taking on monsters known to inflict hemorrhaging wounds.
    • Shrike: Shrike mutates the blood itself. Whosoever spills a drop of Shrike-laced blood will earn a measure of pain in return.

    • Chort decoction: Provides complete resistance to the Stagger effect and reduces the Knockdown effects to Stagger.
    • Doppler decoction: Increases base damage by 50%, also increases attack power from behind
    • Earth elemental decoction: Increases the witcher's resistance to Vitality-depleting critical effects applied during combat. The resistance level rises the more extended the critical effects are applied.
    • Fiend decoction: Increases the weight the witcher can carry without being overburdened.
    • Foglet decoction: Increases Sign Intensity during cloudy weather.
    • Griffin decoction: Taking damage raises damage resistance from physical and elemental damage
    • Noonwraith decoction: Significantly limits the duration of Knockdown, Hypnosis, Stun, and Blindness.
    • Reliever's decoction: Increases damage dealt and decreases damage taken against supernatural beings like wraiths.
    • Succubus decoction: Attack Power grows throughout a fight until reaching a maximum threshold.
    • Troll decoction: Regenerates Damage during and outside of combat.
    • Wyvern decoction: Each blow landed increases Attack Power until either the fight ends or damage is taken.

    Tw3 dlc crossbow set
    • Crossbow: A crossbow is a mechanically assisted bow that is used when more power is required, either to launch heavier projectiles or to launch a more conventional one a long distance. The bows are usually cocked with the assistance of a windlass or crank, but some use levers. While it is really rare for witchers to use crossbows as the primary weapon due to some witchers' preferences and tactics, some witchers happen to use a crossbow. Geralt of Rivia is a notable witcher who uses crossbows to shoot foes from afar or to take down flying monsters. Geralt also modified his bolt ammunition to deal silver damage which negates durability of some monsters.
    • Bolts: Regular bolts. Effective at long range and cause severe damage if hit in a critical spot.
    • Blunt crossbow bolt: This deals a lot more damage than a standard bolt, but it hasn't a sharp edge; instead, it has a blunt edge.
    • Split bolt: These bolts, upon firing, will split into three pieces dealing thrice as much damage as a regular bolt.
    • Exploding bolt: The most powerful bolt type. When it hits the foe, it pierces through the flesh and explodes, severely damaging inner organs.
    • Precision bolt: The most accurate and extended range bolt round can allow the witcher to more easily shoot the opponent in a critical spot.
    • Tracking bolt: This bolt type causes severe blood loss upon hitting an opponent.
    • Broadhead bolt: It has a broad edge that is nearly impossible to pull out and causes heavy bleeding.

    • Witcher's Steel and Silver Swords: This is the standard sword equipment for every witcher. The steel sword is made of meteorite steel, so sharp that it can cut through steel-platted armor. It is commonly used against humans and dangerous animals like wild dogs and wolves. The silver sword is more fragile but effective against monsters and supernatural entities as it ignores their durability and causes them significant pain. Contrary to popular belief, the blade is not entirely made out of silver; only the edges are covered in a thin silver lining, while the blade is made of meteorite steel.
    • Aerondight: Aerondight is a legendary sword bestowed to Geralt of Rivia after he fulfilled Lady of the Lake's wishes. Aerondight is by far the strongest silver sword Geralt has and also the most unique one due to its runes and ability to amplify its power with the addition of setting opponents on fire.
    • Iris: After saving Olgierd's soul from Master Mirror, he gave Geralt his sword Iris, named after his late wife Iris von Everec. Iris is the heaviest sword Geralt has. It has a unique ability to amplify the power of its blows by draining some of Geralt's vitality into the sword to deliver a more powerful blow.
    • Sihil: Sihil was given to Geralt by a famous dwarven blacksmith named Rhundurin. Sihil is considered one of the best swords in the world and it's so sharp that it can cut through fine-plated armor like it's wool.
    • The Caretaker's Spade: After defeating the otherworldly being named The Caretaker, Geralt receives a rusty spade that, upon a successful attack on an enemy, absorbs 10% of his vitality and returns it to Geralt, healing him in process.

    • Witcher Armor: Witcher armors are light and durable, perfectly coinciding with the witcher's combat style and movement. Each witcher school possesses a unique type of witcher armor
    • Witcher Medallions: A witcher medallion is a silver symbol of the witchers' profession. Each one is shaped to represent the school a witcher comes from. It is sensitive to magic, vibrating, and tugging on its chain when spells are being cast or magical beings, like genies, are present. This magic medallion is given to every young witcher candidate who has passed the Trial of the Grasses.
    • Dagger: Used by witchers to clear out fodders or decapitate the head of dead monsters and take them as trophies.
    • Oils: Before their fights with monsters, witchers nearly always prepare specific oils to strengthen their blows and give them a higher chance of winning against their foes, as a side effect when a blade covered in oil cuts through the skin of the opponent that oil causes poisoning and more effective damage.
    • Fringilla's medallion: Before his final battle with Vilgefortz of Roggeveen, Geralt received a medallion from a mage called Fringilla that is capable of casting illusion on others. It was the only reason why he was able to win against Vilgefortz. It is unknown if Geralt still has this medallion later in the games.
    • Eye of Nehaleni: This item was given by Keira Metz, an artifact tied to the deity Nehaleni, and allows Geralt to dispel illusions of all kinds.

    Notable Attacks/Techniques:

    Aard

Aard is a simple magical sign used by witchers. It is comprised of a telekinetic thrust that can stun, repel, knockdown, or disarm opponents and remove barriers and other objects.

It is the sign that the witcher uses the most. Outside of combat, Aard is most often used to clear a path, either by blowing down a wall or blowing apart a pile of debris. During combat, it can stun, knockdown, or disarm an opponent.

After Geralt's further mutations in Blood and Wine, Aard can freeze his enemies.

    IGNI 2

Igni is a simple magical sign used by witchers. It is comprised of a pyrokinetic burst that can repel and ignite opponents and start fires.

Igni is incredibly effective against foes that are weak to fire. There is also an alternative form of Igni that allows Geralt to release a steady flow of fire instead of one quick burst. It can be beneficial for continuously burning enemies even after they've been ignited. Igni is hot enough to melt thick steel armors.

    Yrdentwoto

Yrden is a simple magical sign used by witchers. When inscribed on a solid surface, it blocks the monsters from getting closer, scaring them off. If a hostile being enters the area affected by Sign, it is visibly slowed down/paralyzed, and non-corporeal forces become corporeal.

Most foes that wander into the ring are significantly slowed or even paralyzed. Yrden is best for controlling multiple enemies in the melee range. It's also particularly effective against supernatural beings who mostly remain intangible unless caught within a Yrden circle. Yrden can poison and drain the vitality of the foes within the ring.

This sign has an alternative mode, which is a floating rune of Yrden. This mode shoots lightning bolts that damage and stun enemies at a long range and can even nullify projectiles.

    Quean

Quen is a simple magical sign used by witchers. When the first form is cast, it forms a protective forcefield around the body of the casting witcher but disappears after one hit/few hits when upgraded enough. It can also be used to create a bubble-shaped field that absorbs damage and converts it into regeneration (and can also reflect 50% of physical damage back at the enemy), which is the second form of Quen. However, it's impossible to attack while keeping it still.

Geralt uses it mainly to protect himself from attacks that cover great range/omnidirectional attacks and is not necessarily using it in direct close-quarter combat.

    AXIII11

Axii is a simple magical sign used by witchers. It is a mental wave that triggers a hex that causes an enemy to obey witchers' commands. The effect can wear off over time or be broken via damage from the casting witcher. It can also be used to disable opponents temporarily. Geralt uses it rarely. If he does, it's mainly against folks like peasants or guards to make them go away if he doesn't want to kill them or when it fits the situation, like to not get spotted by someone. However, if Geralt has no choice and Axii is one of the only ways to beat his enemy, he will go for it in a fight, like in cases when he fights a foe with far too troublesome abilities.

Some examples of lore Axii are shown here. Geralt can also give orders to a few men at once, as seen in Novigrad when he could convince two drunkards to go away and it's the highest potency was shown when Geralt used it on five people.

    Heliotrope

Heliotrope is considered the ultimate magical sign used by witchers. When cast, it forms a protective aura-like forcefield that slows down everything within its range.

However it should be noted that this sign is completely different in the books as it is more akin to Quen as it is a protective barrier sign against physical attacks while Quen is a magical one.

Somne is a simple magical sign used by witchers. It was shown in the book Season of Storms. It can put targets to sleep by drawing a sign in the air and possibly erase memories of that happening.

    Suppire

Supirre is a simple magical sign used by the Witchers to hear sounds or conversations that would otherwise be inaudible or undetectable to even a Witcher's enhanced senses.

This sign is most often used in crowded areas to eavesdrop some important conversation and sometimes to detect sounds that wouldn't be normally be heard otherwise. It is also a great sign for echolocation

    Note:

    • This profile includes Geralt's book feats, as even though there is a big difference between the game and book Geralt in power, the books are still canon to the games (Abilities included both in the books and games that have different functioning, like Heliotrope which is a shield similar to Quen in the books and a time-slowing forcefield in the games, are used as their game versions on this profile as it's more focused on the games rather than books, acting as a semi-composite profile). Comics also count, as they are released by CD Projekt Red as continuity of the main-line series.
    • It is advised for the OP in VS Matches to state if Geralt has preparation time or not because most of the time, like all witchers in the series, Geralt has prior knowledge and/or preparation on his opponents that allows him for the broader and more effective arsenal.
