Summary

Saber is the Saber-class Servant of Manaka Sajyou during the First Holy Grail War, and later, of her sister, Ayaka Sajyou, during the Second.

His real name is Arthur Pendragon, the male counterpart of Artoria Pendragon. Arthur is a Heroic Spirit from a parallel world who reached another while hunting down Beast VI.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Enhanced Senses, Master Swordsman, Precognition (His Instinct is high enough to the point of precognition and, due to this, should be the same as his female counterpart), Minor Mind Manipulation with Charisma, some Magecraft, Air Manipulation with Invisible Air, Energy Projection, Statistics Amplification (Can reinforce his body with magical energy to increase his strength and durability), his sword usually is invisible, Animal Manipulation, can "ride" any vehicle or mount with supernatural skill, is an expert at slaying monsters, Supernatural Luck, Minor Fate Manipulation (Servants with B-rank Luck or higher can change their own fates to evade inevitable outcomes such as having their hearts destroyed by Gáe Bolg; Saber has B-ranked Luck in Fate/Grand Order), limited Power Nullification and Servant Physiology

Intelligence: As the esteemed King of Camelot and counterpart to the King of Knights, Saber is an undisputed leader, leading a legion of renowned knights, including the extraordinarily skilled Lancelot and Gawain. A top-tier Servant, he can match all but the most formidable Servants in single combat, notably holding his own against Gilgamesh and effortlessly outclassing Lancer Lancer. Unlike his female counterpart, Arthur apparently exhibits no self-doubt or self-loathing, which enhances his focus in battle and shields him from easy manipulation.

Weaknesses: Saber is constrained by his chivalric code, abstaining from underhanded or pragmatic tactics irrespective of the situation. His sixth sense can be misled by phenomena beyond his experiential knowledge. Moreover, the full potency of Excalibur Proto is subject to stringent and specific conditions.

Noble Phantasms

Invisible Air: Bounded Field of the Wind King: Acting as a veil for Excalibur Proto, this arcane wind conceals the sword's nature, making it harder for other Servants to identify it. More akin to conventional magecraft than a Noble Phantasm, this Bounded Field—presumably a creation of Merlin—distorts light, effectively rendering Excalibur invisible. This supernatural trick keeps opponents guessing as they struggle to determine the sword's exact size, shape, or type. However, once an adversary discerns its nature, the effectiveness of this deception diminishes. This mystic wind also serves as one of the various seals restricting Excalibur Proto's power.

Excalibur Proto: Sword of Promised Victory: This renowned holy sword is King Arthur's most potent and famous Noble Phantasm, designed as a Divine Construct with a world-saving mandate, poised to defeat forces capable of global destruction. Two primary seals restrict it, Invisible Air and the Restraints of the Round Table—constraints imposed by the Knights of the Round Table themselves. Its full might only surfaces when more than half of these seals have been unlocked. The conditions for unsealing are as follows:

  • The enemy must surpass the user in power.
  • The combat must be a fair one-on-one duel.
  • The foe cannot be an Elemental.
  • The user must be battling against evil.
  • The fight should not serve personal interests.
  • The conflict must not involve inhumane actions.
  • The combat must uphold honor.
  • The fight should be in pursuit of the truth.
  • The battle should be a fight for survival.
  • The fight must aim to save the world

Even with a single Restraint released, Excalibur Proto exhibits formidable power, launching a slim yet intense beam of light that easily bested the Sword of Paracelsus, with a subsequent attack overloading the sword. When an unspecified number of Restraints were released, it managed to annihilate Gilgamesh's Star of Destruction and halt the Surge of Utnapishtim. When more than half of its Restraints are unlocked, Excalibur Proto manifests its full power as a world-saving Divine Construct, equipped to vanquish threats capable of Earth's annihilation.

Class Skills

Magic Resistance: This ability grants Saber the power to entirely neutralize and effortlessly deflect incoming magical attacks. Thanks to his dragon lineage and his existence in the Age of Gods, Saber boasts an impressive A-Rank in this skill, making him nearly impervious to even the most ancient and potent magecraft, much like his mainstream counterpart.

Riding: This skill denotes handling various mounts. With a B-rank, Saber is adept in this regard due to his life experience with horse riding. This proficiency enables him to manage virtually any horse or modern vehicle expertly, exercising total control.

Personal Skills

Charisma: Saber possesses this innate talent to inspire and lead, amplifying allies' combat prowess during group engagements. Even merely rated at a B-rank, his charisma is such that it is sufficient to guide a nation as its monarch. Particularly effective against giant beasts, its full display is often restrained as Arthur usually stands alone against these colossal adversaries as his allies cannot keep up.

Giant Beast Hunting: A skill symbolizing vast combat experience against giant lifeforms and magical beasts. Having vanquished all the magical creatures that plagued Britain during his reign, Saber boasts an A-rank in this skill.

Instinct: This skill allows Saber to "sense" the most advantageous outcomes in battle. With an A-Rank in this ability, Saber evokes a fine-tuned sixth sense verging on precognition. It significantly mitigates the effects of visual and auditory distractions typical in combat scenarios.

Mana Burst: This skill, which infuses weapons and the user's body with magical energy, amplifies performance on both offensive and defensive fronts, akin to a jet burst. Saber primarily deploys it for defense and swift movement, rocketing across battlefields while his body teems with reinforced magical energy. Even the most unassuming stick can morph into a formidable weapon with his A-rank proficiency.
