Summary

Lagiacrus are a variety of Leviathan introduced in Monster Hunter 3. They are feared by sailors as the "Lords of the Seas" and are the apex predators of their aquatic environment.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

Underwater:

  • Spin Attack: Lagiacrus curls over itself while biting then, while straightening itself out, its tail lashes out, causing damage.
  • Electric Barrier: Lagiacrus arches its back and produces an electric shield around itself. The electric field stops just short of its tail tip and nose. Beware as this attack prepares the monster for discharge or spin dash. It causes the opponent to be thrown backward through the water, leaving him/her open.
  • Discharge: Curls up and arches its back. Produces a discharge field as with the small shock, followed by sporadic explosions of lightning further away from its body.
  • Charge: Lagiacrus moves away from its target, looks at it sideways, then charges straight at the hunter with an open mouth. It also produces a water current that can knockback.
  • Body Slam: The Lagiacrus turns sideways then slams its body against the opponent. This attack has a deceptive range. May perform this attack twice in quick succession. May also perform the single or double body slam whilst surrounded by a shield of electricity. The attack does considerably more damage if it charges the slam with electricity.
  • 90 Degree Bite: Lagiacrus turns 90 degrees and bites whilst turning at an opponent in its vicinity causing a small-medium amount of damage.
  • Spin Dash: Moves to a far side of the area, curls up, then dashes across the map while spinning, causing a vortex of water along its path. It is powered up if electricity is gathered around the monster.
  • Thunder Ball: Fires a projectile of water infused with electricity from its mouth. May perform this twice in quick succession.

On land:

  • Thunder Ball: Fires a projectile of water infused with electricity from its mouth. May perform this twice in quick succession.
  • Sliding Charge: The Lagiacrus will dash backward, lower his head and slide towards the opponent while assuming an Alligator-like pose and finish the attack by diagonally curving his body to slow down again. Can sometimes be powered up by electricity.
  • Neck Lunge: Lagiacrus stretches its neck in a snaking motion while biting, damaging anything in front of the monster.
  • Body Slam: Lagiacrus rears up before crashing back down, hitting any hunter under or slightly forward of it. It causes the opponent to roll away quite severely and inflicts medium-high damage.
  • Trample: Tackles the opponent.
