Summary
Billy Butcher was a British Royal Marines veteran who became ill-tempered and prone to violence after his service in the Falklands War, until meeting his future wife Becky Saunders, who seemed to calm his temperament down. When Becky dies from complications of sexual assault, supposedly by Homelander, he is recruited by CIA officer Greg Mallory to join a black ops team, “the Boys”, dedicated to patrolling secretly corrupt superheroes. However, Billy's inclination to bloodshed causes him to gradually turn the team into an outright super-hit squad before becoming the official leader of its second commission.
He recruits “Wee” Hughie Campbell after Hughie's girlfriend is killed by a hero from the Seven, allowing Butcher to reinstate his war against the Vought-American corporation's false heroes, with Homelander at the top of his kill list.
