Summary
The F-22 Raptor is an advanced, all-weather twin engine single seat stealth 5th generation fighter developed by Lockheed Martin. It is the end result of the USAF's Advanced Tactical Fighter program, and although it was designed first and foremost for air superiority, it also has other roles in the form of ground attack, electronic warfare, and signal intelligence.
The aircraft made it's first flight on September 7, 1997, entering service in December 15, 2005. There are currently 195 (8 test aircraft and 187 operational) built.
