Summary
Evil Ryu (殺意の波動に目覚めたリュウ, Ryu with the Surge of Killing Intent Awakened), is a character from the Street Fighter series who was originally featured in the 1996 Street Fighter Zero manga before appearing as a playable fighter in Street Fighter Alpha 2. This is the form Ryu takes if he ever succumbs to the Satsui no Hado. Ryu ultimately purged his evil half when he overcame the Satsui no Hado in Street Fighter V, but doing so gave birth to Kage.
Kage (影, Shadow) is a character introduced in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition. After Ryu overcame the temptations of the Satsui no Hado dwelling within him, it was assumed that Evil Ryu had been vanquished. Yet somehow, the Satsui no Hado developed sentience and came to manifest as its own entirely separate, physical entity, naming itself "Kagenaru Mono" (影ナル者, The Shadowed One). Kage lives to show and prove to Ryu that he is nothing without him and seeks out to challenge Akuma and Sagat, two of Ryu’s most notorious rivals. But these endeavors were ultimately fruitless for Kage, because even after fighting them, they comment on how he is nothing but an impudent, ignorant amd soulless silhouette that doesn't have the strength to break a true warrior's will.
