Summary
Lieutenant First Class Ellen Louise Ripley was a warrant officer in Weyland-Yutani's freight operations and one of the crew members of the unfortunate USCSS Nostromo, which collected a single Xenomorph from LV-426 as per the company's plans. The only survivor of the ensuing disaster, Ripley's knowledge on the Xenomorphs would prove instrumental in future human encounters with them.
After her death on Fiorina 161, a clone of her was made centuries later, named Ripley 8, hybridized with Xenomorph DNA.
