Your quest ends here, sad fools. Did you think you could track down the primordial so easily? Despite all your power, you have learned nothing about the true nature of existence. You are here because I willed it. You followed a trail long cold- Timesus is even now with Orcus so that he may unseat Death herself. You walked willingly to your final deaths. Come, let us end your suffering.[1]
~ Doresain, Exarch of Orcus

Summary

He brooded, this Lord of Cadavers that still breathed, upon his throne... and his sightless eyes gazed upon a darkness more absolute than blindness.
~ H.P. Lovecraft

In eons past, there was an elf worshipper of Orcus who betrayed his kin and feasted on them to honor the Demon Lord of Undeath. In doing so, he became Doresain the Ghoul King, the first of these despicable types of undead, transformed by the Demon Lord himself. Through this act of consumption, Doresain earned an Abyssal domain populated by countless ghouls, and his avatars spread his reach across the Prime Material Plane and beyond, founding a ghoul kingdom beneath the surface of the world. Eventually, he would acquire a shard of Orcus' power and ascend to Demigodhood.

Eventually, Doresain's layer of the Abyss would be conquered by Yeenoghu, the Packlord, and he would be forced to return some level of his devotion to Corellon Larethian and the elven gods to save him from perdition. In return, ghouls had lost their ability to fully affect elves with their paralysis[2]. In time, Doresain regained his power and returned to the side of Orcus, serving as one of his greatest Exarchs[3].

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Paralysis Inducement, Stealth Mastery (Ghouls can move almost completely silently, even in large groups[4]), Natural Weaponry (Ghouls possess extremely sharp claws and teeth), Paralysis Inducement (The touch of a ghoul can invoke paralysis in the victim, preventing movement to allow the ghoul to feed), Disease Manipulation (Ghouls keep filth and grave offal on their claws and teeth to increase the chance of infection to those they hit), Corruption (Types 1 and 2, capable of transforming victims into Shadow Ghouls, which rends body and soul, takes particular joy in the corruption of those who follow the Raven Queen[5]), Summoning (Even far inferior ghouls are capable of summoning shadows, hardly existent creatures that sap the strength of their enemies[6], While Doresain yet lives more and more ghouls and other creatures swarm his palace, capable of summoning Nightbringer, a primordial that was once capable of challenging Gods[7]), Life Manipulation (Ghouls can create automata and constructs from bones and corpses- such creations defend their cities and assault their enemies), Enhanced Senses (Ghouls see perfectly fine in total darkness), Statistics Reduction (The touch of certain ghouls drains the foe of their strength[8]), Transmutation (Shadow ghouls are created by transmuting the flesh of those diseased by grave rot with the shadow material that fuels the undead; they essentially are entirely made from this energy-material), Darkness Manipulation (Derives power from and maintains considerable control over the energies of the Shadowfell, capable of creating vast clouds of magical darkness that block even the greatest of sight), Energy Manipulation (Capable of channeling the energies of undeath into creatures to re-animate them)[9], can create waves of kinetic energy to push away and knock prone enemies[10]), Power Nullification (Capable of creating ghoul-light, which dispels illusions and reveals hidden things- such as those hidden by gaps in the perception or invisibility[11], Can prevent the usage of teleportation magic[12]), Clairvoyance (Uses fiery constructs named Eyes of the King to keep watch on his subjects from afar[13], often sending hundreds out at once to watch over huge swathes of land), Surface Scaling (Ghouls are adept climbers[14]), Blood Manipulation (The blood of ghouls was made to damage foes upon their deaths), Self-Sustenance (Types 1, 2, and 3), Power Bestowal (Directly controls how much power his ghouls possess and can grant greater power to individuals if he so chooses; he can grant his blessings to those that it would normally be impossible to grant such boons to, such as demons), Immortality (Types 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 8, Bears the powers of a demigod[15], making him comparable to individuals such as Hercules), Regeneration (Mid-Godly), Chaos Manipulation/Law Manipulation (As a god, should contribute significantly to the balance of law and chaos that permeates the multiverse), Abstract Existence (Type 1, Outsiders are totally abstract in their physiology and bear no standard body to speak of), Conceptual Manipulation (Type 1, presides over Domains such as Chaos, Evil, Hunger, Necromancy, and Ghouls), Dimensional Travel (Often appears when careless spellcasters manipulate necrotic energies too much, personally converting them into more servants), Weapon Mastery (His divine weapon is a scimitar[16]), Biological Manipulation (He can alter the biology of standard creatures to become gravetouched rather than full-on ghouls[17]), Shapeshifting (Demonic ghouls created by Doresain have the ability to, after consuming an individual, can replicate their appearance[18], capable of transforming into a Cloaker as an emergency), Space-Time Manipulation (Doresain controls a layer of the Abyss, and should be capable of controlling its space-time as a result[19][20]), Bone Manipulation (The mouths on his cloak can animate to project teeth and bite his enemies[21]), Statistics Amplification (Hunger increases his strength), Teleportation (He can teleport at-will), Soul Manipulation (Manipulated the souls of the Raven Queen's petitioners until they sputtered out of existence entirely[22]), Absorption (Undead passively siphon the energies of life out from those around them; more powerful undead siphon exponentially more, until it outright snuffs the life out from those in the vicinity[23]), Pocket Reality Manipulation (Doresain controls a pocket reality with countless ways of secretly entering, though only one available to outsiders[24]), Sealing (Can bar adventurers from entering his domain except through the main entrance), Preparation (Through extreme planning, Doresain managed to acquire the form of Timesus, a primordial stronger than gods, and plans to use it to enhance the power of himself and his lord, Orcus), Sense Manipulation (By performing a ritual, his followers can summon Doresain's senses to them- he can see the area they are in as if he himself were there), Heat Manipulation (Constantly controls the heat of certain areas of his palace to ensure bodies decay as he wishes them to, creating areas of toxic blood vapor[25]), Resurrection (He is one of the few creatures in existence capable of returning an undead creature to life, and uses this ability to create cannibal humanoids to infiltrate society[26]), Damage Boost (His blessings grant targets increased power), Sound Manipulation, Perception Manipulation (The sounds created in the White Kingdom by Doresain daze and confuse enemies, preventing them from acting entirely[27], touching the blood of True Ghouls assaults the victim's mind with torturous visions of Doresain, can create an aura of silence to prevent things like spellcasting vocally), Aura (Creatures around Doresain experience lethal pangs of hunger, and die quickly as a result), Mind Manipulation (By appealing to the hunger of a creature, they can be brought to bow before Doresain and his allies; can manipulate the energies of the living to work against them, taking control of their mind[28]), Magic, Reality Warping (Capable of creating magic items of potency equal to some of the greatest spellcasters in existence[29]), Healing (Makes use of copious amounts of blood to heal himself and his minions constantly[30]), Fire Manipulation (The flaming skulls that orbit him can fire rays of flame[31]), Portal Creation (He can create portals at-will[32]), Resistance Negation (His teleportation and portal abilities ignore attempts to prevent them, was capable of penetrating the wards and protections of seven extremely powerful mages casually[33]), BFR (Could theoretically force an entity through the portal to the circle designated), Avatar Creation, Social Influencing (Successfully negotiated a treaty with the cloakers despite the latter being famously xenophobic[34]), Poison Manipulation (Ghouls regularly make use of deadly poisons[35]), Flight (Capable of transforming into a Cloaker to achieve flight[36]), Deconstruction (Bears a mace of disruption that utterly obliterates undead and evil fiends), Electricity Manipulation (Via a Wand of Lightning, can create electrical arcs capable of ripping enemies to shreds), Holy Manipulation, Subjective Reality (Doresain possesses holy power and can cast priest spells via sheer willpower), Invisibility (Can render himself invisible), Empathic Manipulation (Capable of charming enemies into serving him), Extrasensory Perception (Can detect magical energies and auras), Metal Manipulation (With a spell, can heat metal and harm those touching it), Earth Manipulation (Capable of shaping stone as he pleases), Psychometry (Via various divination spells he is able to learn the nature of things), Text Manipulation (Can manipulate a Symbol, an extremely powerful spell that harkens back to the words that spelled out creation- in his instance, he is able to use the Symbol of Hopelessness, debilitating and crippling any who see it to the point of being unable to function properly), Afterimage Creation (Becomes a blur in combat via sheer speed), Energy Projection and Homing Attack (The skulls that orbit him constantly fire out magic missiles to his defense[37]), Thread Manipulation (His skulls can also create webs), Memory Manipulation (Doresain and his shadow ghouls can eat knowledge, learning everything known by those they consume), Light Manipulation (Surrounded by an aura of eerie green light, different than that of the Ghoul-light;
